I am writing to praise one of Exciting Nepal’s junior guides, Sagar KC. I was trekking independently in the Khumbu last month and wanted to hire a guide to walk with me from Lobuche to Gokyo via Cho La (a 5,000-meter pass). I asked some of lodge managers in Lobuche if they knew of any guides available at their lodges or in the village, and they all said no.

I was concerned that I would either have to cross the pass without a guide, or that I would have to walk to Dingboche to recruit a guide I know there (Wi-Fi and phone service were not working in Lobuche).

As luck would have it, I entered the dining room of a lodge in Lobuche, and struck up a conversation with a friendly-looking Nepali named Sagar KC. He told me that he worked as a guide for Exciting Nepal, and that he was leading a group of Western trekkers to Everest Base Camp; they were spending the night Lobuche and would go to EBC the next day. I told him I was hoping to hire a guide to cross Cho La with me, and he was genuinely concerned about my predicament. He insisted on helping me find a guide; he suggested that we visit every lodge and even the porter shelters.

Within the next 15 minutes, he found me a Sherpa guide at a nearby lodge. This guide was not affiliated with Sagar’s agency, but he was built like a tank, had mountaineering experience (including an Everest summit), and was professional and friendly. Sagar made sure that both the guide and I understood the terms of the deal, and the next morning the Sherpa guide and I headed for Dzonglha, and ultimately, Cho La and Gokyo.

I kept in touch with Sagar via WhatsApp, and told him that my guide and I made it across Cho La and to Gokyo. In fact, I felt so comfortable with and grateful to Sagar that I met him for tea when I returned to Kathmandu.

Sagar truly saved my trek. If he hadn’t found me a guide, I probably wouldn’t have crossed Cho La.

Sagar is in his early twenties, and has a bright future ahead of him. He is familiar with most of the popular trekking areas, and he’s scheduled to lead a trek to Kengchenjunga later this year.

Based on my experience reported above, I highly recommend Sagar and his agency.

We, 7 of us from Kathmandu booked the Mardi Himal Trek with Exciting Nepal Treks. Mr. Subash from the Company is very responsive and attentive always before and during the trip. He regularly stay touch with his guide Bashudev. We have found that company is a really professional one in their job and their guide ( Bashudev ) and Porters are.
Guide Bashudev speak really good English, most of the time we communicate with English with Bashudev however he like to speak Nepali with us which is also fine for us. Taking care of our food and accommodation was supper by our guide and porters. Company had provided us a good sleeping bag which was so helpful.
We had a great experience, Great scenery, lucky that there was a clear weather all the time. The temperature at the base camp was pretty cold so we surely recommend warm clothes and good gears for the trekkers during the November. (End of November)
Thank you so much for your good service Exciting Nepal. We will surly recommend you.

I cant say enough good things about this company. The upper mustang trek to Lo Manthang had been a bucket list thing for me for years. I had been talking throughout covid to the owner Subash . (who kept me updated two times a week on nepalese government and nepal tourism board progression).  He let me know when it was good to go; and we got started right away towards the visa, trekking permits, packing list etc. also they provided new extra duffles to store our stuff in from departure of jomsom and new sleeping bags for us so we wouldnt need to haul halfway across the world.
The most important Subash did that I never found a tour company to do  was “hand holding” and reassurance ( (which I never really needed until the new “covid world”) that it was going to be fine and safe. He was correct. After arrival he arranged EVERYTHING from tours around Kathmandu to COVID tests. Transport. Etc. Subash made sure everything ran smoothly and we were kept healthy and safe and it did.
Although Subash organized everything the majority of our time was spent with our Trekking Guide Basu and Porters Balaram and Ram who equalled Subash’s excellence on their end of the tour. They exhibited Top notch professionalism and always made sure we were always fed, hydrated, comfortable and ALWAYS lent a helping hand. We shared so many fun times and I felt safe every step of the way. Even after long trekking days, Balaram would wash up and cook up some of his signature dishes. I work in healthcare give this group an A+ In understanding health and safety protocol during the pandemic. Even when having small health problems they were there to take care of me (even if in the middle of the night) I cant thank this company enough and I am already thinking of my next experience to book with them down the road. I highly recommend booking a trek with them or at least an inquiry with Subash if you have any questions. I cant imagine a better experience and this team is highly equipped to get you to Nepal and home safe if you are urging to travel to Nepal to Trek during the Ever long pandemic.

I spent alot of time reaching out to multiple agencies. Subash was very quick with his replies, alot of the time within 5 minutes, which gave me alot of confidence and was very helpful. After our face to face meeting, I was confident I was making the right decision with Exciting Nepal Treks as him and our guide, Suman, were highly organised and efficient. Suman was a brilliant guide. Some people told us we wouldn't need a guide as it's such a well beaten track. However, I'm extremely glad we did get one, as Suman did so much more for us than show us the way and set the pace. He was ringing ahead (sometimes 2-3 days) to make sure we had accomodation sorted and he always made sure to be conscious of our budget. A lot of the time we would arrive at the lodge and fall asleep straight away (thanks to Suman already sorting us a room). He would wake us up to order dinner and then again to eat dinner so we were able to rest without any stresses. Overall, he's a friendly, supportive and all round good guy. I would highly recommend Exciting Nepal Treks and Suman as a guide to anyone looking to do trekking in Nepal

Guide Suman Lama and sherpas Subash and Pemba led us on a 17 day 'hard trekking' route at height in the Everest Region. Absolutely recommend Exciting Nepal whose package provided basic meals and drinks, probably best to plan to supplement these once you are covering the miles and to accept that the tea houses at altitude are basic, sometimes without running water. The real heroes of the piece were Suman and our guides. We trusted them completely with their extensive local knowledge and they shepherded us up and down the Three Passes trek, helping us to manage the conditions and the challenges of altitude. Suman was decisive in making difficult calls when the weather was bad. He took care of all practicalities, such as booking alternative transport when flights were cancelled, and sorted out the tea houses and meals. Subash, one of our sherpas, even rescued another sherpa who couldn't climb up an ice slope, in deep snow, with his heavily laden pack. It was impressive to see. It was a very special trek.

Exciting Nepal Treks and Expedition did an excellent job planning and executing my trek to the Mt. Everest Base Camp. This is the 4th trip I have taking with them in Nepal and each time they have performed beyond my expectations. They handled all the arrangements such as hotels, transportation and required permits and meals, Both the guide, Basu, and porter, Sigman, were very knowledgable and did an outstanding job attending to all my requests needs and they were continually checking to make sure that I was doing well and my needs were being met. I have worked with many companies around the world for travel and expeditions and feel that Exciting Nepal Treks and Expeditions is the best. They are very responsive and make sure in advance that the trips are well planned and supported by their team and the companies that they schedule to also support the trek. Loved the trek to the Mr. Everest Base camp and would highly recommend the trip and planning it thru Exciting Nepal Treks and Expeditions.

We 5 family members did Poon Hill to Ghandruk circuit trek. Guide Suman from this company was very knowledgeable and helpful. He looks after our accommodation and food perfectly. Arranged transportation during the trip from Kathmandu – Pokhara- Nayapol was so on time, we feel so comfortable. Suman arranged Horse for me from Tikhe Dhunga to Gorepani, my Knee had some problem at that time. Thank you Suman. We had not so much nice view from the Poon hill due to a bit of bad weather however we had great views from Deurali, on the way to Tadapani, From Tadapani the Mt. Fishtail Looks so close and enormous as well. The amazing part of this trek was from Ghorepani to Tadapanni walking which is so adventurous forest walking inside this Annapurna Conservation area. We took a local Jeep from Ghandruk to Pokhara, Again Thanks to Suman for arranging this for. Over all Exciting Nepal did a great job. We are happy with this company. Thank you.

We decided to use this operator for a private jeep tour to Upper Mustang for the Tiji festival. Our overall impression is positive, their guide and the driver really wanted to the make best out of the itinerary. Our biggest disappointment was that the selected accommodations. We felt mislead that the only type of accommodations available in Upper Mustang is the tea houses with very basic conditions. In reality, there are decent hotels in different places and we were able to book them instead of the included tea houses. Perhaps they wanted to give us a very competitive quote but never asked about our preferences. We would happily pay more given a choice, but we weren’t. I strongly recommend that you discuss the accommodation choice with them and all other aspects of trip. A hot shower and a warm room is a huge bonus in Upper Mustang, whether you trek, ride a horse or travel by jeep.

Because different people have different tolerance to high altitude, be mindful of the effect of a 3800-4000 m altitude on you. It is more gradual if you are mostly trekking. If you travel by jeep, you should give yourself extra days between Pokhara and Upper Mustang. This is another type of advice that should come from the operator. So do yourself a favor and discuss the best options to manage that adjustment.

Driving in Himalayas is a challenge. Your life will completely depend on the driver. We were lucky as our driver, Sumis, was a true expert handling these challenges. Nevertheless, you may want to fly between Kathmandu and Pokhara. If you are lucky and the flight is not cancelled, it’ll save you 8 hrs of driving. You will have plenty of it from Pokhara to Lo Manthang.

Finally, our guide Basu was very helpful and considerate. However, he was a trekking expert but since we were driving, we expected him (perhaps mistakenly) to provide a lot of the historical, cultural and religious input along the way. Do not expect that. Either do your own homework or specifically request a guide with that kind of knowledge. You may or may not get that.

Bottom line, do a lot of research, ask a lot of questions ahead of time and you will enjoy it.

Dear Annxprop, Thank you so much for giving us business as well as spending your precious time to review our service. You have booked your trip with us as per the listing into our webpage. It was clearly mentioned into the page regarding to the Hotel / Accommodation during the trip. I have also explained same things about accommodations during the trip meeting before the trip departure. It was even better if you could have been asked with us that you would like to upgrade your accommodations that we are not aware of it. We apologize for that. So We have provided the hotel and accommodation based on our price. For the Upper Mustang tour in Nepal, there is only trekking guide are available , there are no specially tour guide are available for this Upper Mustang, So we have provided you a professional guide that who have been there many times. Once again thank you for your feed back, All the very best. Best Regards, Subash and Team of Exciting Nepal.

Everyone has been raving about the Annapurna base camp trek and wanted me to try it too. Honestly, it sounded fun to be surrounded by the snow-covered forests and the glorious mountains. But I didn’t have the time or energy to be walking the rough terrain for days. That’s when I came across the Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Landing Tour. This was a godsent offer for me as I couldn’t walk that far but still wanted to experience the Base Camp at least once.
I was grouped with 4 other people who were really nice. We all had fun on the helicopter ride, sharing our baffled looks and expressing our happiness at the view. We reached the base camp and enjoyed a warm cup of authentic Nepali tea which was godsent. To be in the midst of all the snow-covered mountains and enjoy the authentic Nepali tea was a dream come true.
The Heli tour was really extravagant and made me forget all my problems. All in all, it was an extravagantly memorable tour for me. This package made it possible for me to reach the destination I never thought I could. Thank you, Mr. Subash, for arranging our helicopter tour.
