It was during day time when we went there I thought it was closed. I’ve heard about this restaurant so much so I had really high hopes. There were only 2 guests and the staffs were no where to be seen. We went inside and the place was filled with signatures and messages from the guests that came here before. It was World Cup cricket match so the staffs were busy watching it. We ordered our food but the service was a bit late … but we enjoyed the food. Overall it was an average place .. maybe a bit expensive for the locals …and Toilet was alright.

This place is basically just your average bar. We went just to get a picture of Edmund Hillary's signature on the wall. The beers were a bit expensive compared to other places in Kathmandu, but it was interesting to see all of the footprints other visitors have left behind on the walls and ceiling. The bartender even let us tack a small foot up on the wall... even though we had never climbed Everest. It's an interesting place, but be prepared to spend a little more for a drink

We were looking for a place to sit and chat and may be have some drinks and snack one evening in Thamel. Rum Doodle fit our bill. The roof top was busy and full so we decided to sit in the huge restaurant downstairs. It was empty when we got there at around 7pm. We had some drinks and the snacks. Both we enjoyed.

Oozing with mountain history and atmosphere and worth going for that alone. The staff were friendly and, despite some of the reviews, the food was excellent. We had a selection of starters … the chicken basket being the best. We will be back for our last evening in Nepal later in the week

This is a fab restaurant! If you book early enough in the day you can order a yeti foot and all you group can sign and design it! Lovely food and drinks... We could have drank the place dry over all the rum that was drank!

if you want to go to Rum Doodle for dinner, I recommend you to book in advance. This restaurant(pub?) is really really popular. Every Nepalese I met said that Rum Doodle is the most popular pub in Thamel(or Kathmandu), and I admit that it is true.
Fortunately I arrived around 18:00, still the only seat they could offer was counter, not table.. As time went by, the counter also became full, because there are only 10 seats at the counter. I saw 'Reserved' sign at every table.
According to staff, trekkers just come by in a big group when returning to Kathmandu after 2, 3 weeks long camp. Actually, Rum Doodle has got plenty of space, indeed ! Still, it was full with trekkers. They were usually in a huge group, in other words, they were together all along while camping. In case you go there with a friend, it might be OK, but try to make a reservation beforehand, if you want to take a table for dinner ( not sure about lunch, though)
a glass of wine 180 rupee, Green salad 150 rupee something like that. This place is for tourists, I have to admit that it is a bit pricey, but it it worth to visit. I enjoyed the night, i talked to many trekkers. Don't miss here when you are in Thamel.

I had lunch here on the roof top balcony. The atmosphere was fine but I was totally put off when the proprietor added a 24% tax to my bill and then had the audacity to keep my change in the bill fold. I can't enjoy this place as I just feel like I was ripped off and let down by somewhere that was supposed to be a bit of a legend. I won't go back.

Overpriced below average food. Terrible service. Overcharged us for the drinks. Not cheap and not cheerful :-(

Having visited last week during Hindu festival waited almost 2 hours for very average food, no explanation for delay and hugely overpriced drinks and food menu... shame as the potential for the tales and the recent Help for Heroes EBC trek should have made this a special visit.
