Soar across the Himalayas on a helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Mount Everest Base Camp, touching down for an optional breakfast at a hotel with spectacular mountain vistas. Along the way, you’ll get aerial views of glaciers, camps, mountaineering routes on the world’s highest mountain. A stop to refuel at Lukla offers a glimpse of the mountain town where trekkers set out for Mount Everest.

Staff were friendly and its it's a lovely, relaxed bar with good prices. We had a great night chatting and drinking. As other reviews the toilet wasn't great but I just waited to.get back to my hotel. Defo worth a visit.

Our group of 7 Everest Base Camp trekkers ended up at Sam's most times due to its very relaxed and sociable environment. Very nice open roof top restaurant Most of the waiters are deaf and mute and very polite and attentive. The menu has good variation and all the different foods our group ordered (pizzas, burgers, stews, noodles, sizzlers etc) got complimentary comments We always had a good time there

It’s easy to miss the entrance to this well-established and understandably popular bar, but once found it’s easy to stay. The bar is on the first floor and overlooks one of the busy Thamel streets teeming with tourists, though there is only a row of seats with a view to the street. The bar includes a part uncovered terrace with walls covered in graffiti left by past visitors, and a cosy if dark area around the actual bar. Sam’s Bar is very relaxed, a place where friends meet and travellers find a temporary home. A sign at the top of the stairs informs visitors: “Sorry, no wifi – talk to each other and get drunk”. Quite.

We went here one night for a beer after dinner and chose it in part due to the recommendations we found on TA. The one positive thing I can say is that they appear to have the cheapest beer in Thamel. Most other bars charge about 600 Rs for one and their price was 480 Rs for a Mt Everest. There are two seating areas, one that is partially open to the outside and the other in the back with no ventilation. Unfortunately, we ended up in the back because there were no seats in the front area. We are not smokers, but know that cigarette smoke is a staple in bars in Thamel. However, it was a bit much here as the area was so small and it seemed like almost everyone was smoking. Again, we knew what we were getting into and were willing to deal with it. What really turned me off was the toilet area. I can honestly say that the female toilet here was the most disgusting one I have ever seen and we’ve traveled enough to have experienced some not so great ones. It looked and smelled like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The fact that it was a squat toilet actually works in its favor, but I would still be hesitant to use it. Go for the cheap beer and potential for good conversation with the other patrons. I strongly advise leaving before you need to visit the facilities.

Possibly living on its past but a cool place that still seems quite popular with a more relaxed crowd. A thoroughly ok place . Beer is 360 for San Miguel
