We (two couples from Germany + Kenya, 50-70 years), after flying into Kathmandu, did the 8 day Annapourna Circuit Trecking tour (plus two nights in Pokhara). The tour was 100% organised by Mountain Hawk; Prem Pandit and his employee Min were our guides and took care of literally everything.
The experience was as close to perfect as real life can get. The planning/concept of the tour was ideal for us, which allowed us to get to Thorang La pass (5,416m) safely. We felt in very good hands and under a truly professional, responsible stewardship. Moreover, Prem and Min are extremely kind and pleasant people with whom it is a pleasure to spend time. The same goes for the two porters who also accompanied us.
We´ve taken many trips to different locations around the world over the years and are quite "spoiled" - but Prem and his team more than met our expectations. They absolutely deserve the highest possible ratings and can be unconditionally recommended for trecking tours in Nepal.

An excellent, safe and challenging adventure organized by Prem Pandit and his team at Mountain Hawk Trek. Very well organized especially as we had a group that had members leaving early and joining in between the main trek. He also organized a short break to Pokrah for us at very short notice, which was excellent as well. The Sherpa team is excellent and works well with Prembhai. Overall very much recommended.

trekked with a group of 12 to Everest Base Camp in May 2023 with Mountain Hawk(MH) . Prem and his team organised the trip to the finest detail. MH is a an experienced operator ensuring that the trekkers fitness levels are looked at the outset. This ensures almost 100% success rate. I will definitely recommend MH as a responsible enabler.

Absolutely amazing Trek. Prembhai and all the other guides were very helpful, kind and inspiring! The Best we could've asked for. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and all the food was very delicious. Once in a lifetime experience! Everyone was healthy and sound through out the trek.

I went onto the Gokyo /EBC trek with the MountainHawk team late March 2016 with Badri (my guide) and Rajan (my porter). Having finished this 2 weeks ago , let me say that people are not kidding when they say it will be the trip of your lifetime , and I am eternally grateful for choosing Mountainhawk as the team who made this experience not just smooth , but quite possibly the best one when I swap trekking stories – making me believe I easily had the best trekking experience thanks to MountainHawk

Selecting a trekking company was not easy. There are easily hundreds of trekking company sprawled across the net with competitive pricing and took hours to evaluate each one.

Using a combination of Tripadvisor (which I am finally contributing back to!) reviews and Website information – I shortlisted MountainHawk for its positive reviews (in fact was there a bad one?) as well as what its packages offer .

The Gokyo/EBC I chose included 4 nights at Kathmandu (the hotel was new and felt more luxurious than advertised) , not to mention free hire of Down jacket/Sleeping bag/Duffel (which I didn’t have to lug to Nepal myself).

Price was also very competitive (though not the lowest but reasonable given more inclusions than the average company).

Trekking Enthusiasts should also note that MountainHawk’s Gokyo/EBC trek includes one more acclimatization day (at Gokyo) which is longer than the usual itinerary offered by most companies.

It was a crucial inclusion to me as it proved correct during the trek where the longer acclimatization period made difficult high altitude points like Cho la pass/Gokyo ri /ebc way easier.

The correspondence phase was also at most times a daunting task. Of the 6 companies I had contacted, only Prem from Mountainhawk gave prompt , clear responses which gave me all the info that I need. With an attractive itinerary, valuable inclusions, price and attentive correspondence, I took the plunge and signed up with MountainHawk.

I was made welcome from the minute I was met at the airport by Badri , whom I later found out to be the guide for my trek. Being put up at Hotel Moonlight in the popular Thamel district, I was pleasantly surprised when the hotel rooftops offer an unobstructed view of the district (insert nice sunset view)

The Trek was a trekker's dream came true; thanks to the Weather Gods, Clear Skies in the mornings allowed for maximum visibility and dry paths: I will try to exclude any mention of the scenery so as to not ruin the surprise!

There were a few things that stood out with Badri leading me throughout the trek:

Knowledge of routes

With over 70 treks under his belt , Badri always know the best routes for in all terrains. a great example was when he led me off the well-trodden but strenuous climb in Namche during acclimatization day for a scenic detour instead which not saved a great deal of energy (there are a few jealous glances from the other groups at the end of the day ).

The dialled down pace also benefited me as I saved my energy for the next day's gruelling climb to Dole . My trip was also tailored with an extra day of visiting Gokyo 5th lake (highlight of trek) which little guides are familiar with - Badri knew exactly where you can view a larger proportion of Everest as compared to on top of Kala Pattar.

Such useful insights are what make a huge difference between what a good trip and a great one.

Communication

In my two weeks of guesthouses and meeting other teams and guides, Badri is the only one that I deem to have a conversational English proficiency , which I thoroughly appreciate as I can complain about mountain food versus the burgers of Melbourne , or exchange opinions on Nepalese vs. Australian culture.

Furthermore - while every guide definitely has the knowledge about the mountains , it is another story whether they are able to elaborate if there are inherent language difficulties.

Attitude

While I believe every Nepal guide is very dedicated to servicing trekkers as customers, I came to a conclusion that Badri actually does not stop at his obligation being a service provider .

In my observations through the trip, Badri has personally taken upon himself as a form of pride to provide, to his ability, the best experience his trekking group can get - that means going extra miles to secure better rooms than average ; balancing between what his group would like to do versus what the Trek needs (for example I loathe eating halfway through the trek but he was always firm in taking lunch stops when he senses I am tired but just remaining stubborn).

It is that personal pride in his passion as a Guide that I rate him at the very top of the guides I've interacted with during my 14 day trek.

The Trek itself was superb - having no altitude problems (Badri kept a close tab on your level of fatigue each day) , no health issues (food at the chose guesthouses were definitely cleaner than I expect even given my delicate stomach) and a daily dose of Badri's Humour (warning: sometimes it's funnier to him than me!) were the exact ingredients I need to pull off the trek.

I would also like to thank my porter Rajan for his company : Not only was he the only porter on the way that I can observe proactively engage us trekkers in conversation (he's very hardworking in his quest for better English), he is FOREVER trekking faster than me, with a load 6 times heavier.

MountainHawk is definitely a team that stands out to me in my 5 month travel as a dedicated team of professionals who pride themselves in providing a high level of service with love and dedication.

Prem / Badri /Rajan - I've already recommended your team to any interested contacts back home -I look forward to hearing from my friends about their trips with you in the future.

To all fellow prospective trackers - I am happy to answer any questions you may have as well!

Prem is one of the most informative and educated guides that I have ever run into. I saw him solve big and little issues with such ease. He helped all trekkers that needed assistance, even if they were with another touring company. He is a genuine, kind man that is happy in his job and truly enjoys sharing his expertise with fellow trekkers from around the world! If you plan on trekking the Himalayas, Prem is the best guide you could get!

I did a 5 day mini Anapurna trek with Mountain Hawk in Oct 2015. Prem was really helpful answering my emails promptly before I arrived, and meeting me at the airport when I got to KMD. Badri was a great guide and a total gentleman. As a solo female trekker, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but Badri went out of his way to look after me on the trek, to make sure I had fun, and that everything went well. I had great time and based on my experience, would recommend Mountain Hawk.
