A small part of Nepal has had a big earthquake in April 2015. We participated in relief and are now working in recovery. socialtours is open for business, and we are even more determined to be professional, and build back better. You can help us in the process. Tourism is more important than ever.

A free day in Kathmandu or Pokhara can still be a day of discovery. Discovery of Local Food and Cuisine, of local handicrafts producers, or organic food, or a discovery of livelihoods, or the insides of Buddhism. At socialtours, we believe that these unplanned days will be the moments you will remember the most in Nepal, whether you learn how to cook, go to a coffee farm, or just cycle around the small picturesque communities around these cities, or hike on our 8000'ers of Kathmandu (yeah, 8000 ft. not meters). Yes, we also conduct off beat treks and adventure activities around these magnificent day inspirations. Talk to us, we will HIGHLIGHT your trip to Nepal.

A two and a half hour course on how to make momos. First, we went shopping to get all the ingredients, then worked in a well equipped kitchen with two very friendly and very patient women who explained the process of making mo mos (chicken ones and spinach and cheese ones as well as a few chocolate ones for dessert!).... A treat in Kathmandu! Sakun and Asmita were the friendliest teachers and the kitchen was a great place to be. So nice in fact, that we went a second time. Now I can cook momos and dal bhat at home! The best souvenir I could imagine. Recommended!

Myself and a friend took part in the Cook Like A Local activity and both thoroughly enjoyed it. Our teacher was both knowledgeable and extremely friendly, and with a small group of 3 people, it was very enjoyable and lots of hands-on work. Would recommend.

Mo:Mo cooking class were the one of the best highlights during our stay in Nepal.Class started with attending the local shops to buy all necessary ingredients for preparing Mo:Mo and the rest of the time we spent in kitchen where we took part in all cooking processes and finished with delicious mo:mo lunch.

We had a fun time learning how to cook mo mos with two great instructors. Enjoyed spending a rainy afternoon with them.

We used this company to book the Rise of the Artisan tour advertised as specifically focussing on the rebuilding processes of ancient temples destroyed in the earthquake in Bhaktapur. Having already done a general tour of with another company we were looking for something with a bit more depth. Unfortunately not with the guide we got. He was friendly enough... More

Carol, Am very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations on the Rise of the Artisans. Not our intention at all. The trip is meant to showcase how the process works in the restoration process when earthquake hits Nepal, and while Dawa is completely capable in delivering this, I am sorry it did not come out to... We took the 'Cook Like a Local' class with 6 of us and learned how to cook one of the national dishes of Nepal - momos. My wife and I have done food tours and/or cooking tours practically on every trip we've ever taken and this one ranks amongst the best. The team at Social Tours was fantastic and the... More

We (2 people) did a 8-day trek to Annapurna basecamp together with our excellent, super friendly guide who spoke really good english, and our nice porter. We had a good briefing before the trip, the transportation to Pokhara worked out nicely, and we were able to plan the trip according to our wishes. This was definitely the best trek I've... More

Such a memorable experience learning how to make these delectable little treats. Sakun was a delight and a wonderful teacher. From wandering through the Thamel collecting all the fresh ingredients, preparing and cooking in the traditional Nepalese fashion, through to the well earned feast at the end. I would recommend this as a must do if you are ever in... More
