Certainly a unique experience. A frantic, evening ride through busy narrow streets, perched precariously on a Heath-Robinson contraption consisting of a seat high up at the rear of a rickety old bicycle. Squeezing through the narrowest of gaps between 1000's of pedestrians, 100's of other bikes, mopeds and motorcycles and the occasional car. Sounds, mostly the "beep-beep" of the bicycle horn clearing the way. Lights and vivid colours flashing by. Souvenir shops next to hardware stores interspersed with signs of earthquake damage. Stopping at stupors, temples and Kathmandu Durbar square with excellent information provided by an English speaking guide. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour taken on Christmas Eve. I'm sure you can find anything for sale in Thamel. I found it really amusing that, along with the seasonal Santa hats, illuminated Halloween horns and Easter Bunny hats with flapping ears were on sale.
