About
The Garden of Dreams, a neo classical historical garden, is situated in the midst of Kathmandu city, Nepal. The Garden's design has much in common with formal European gardens: paved perimeter paths, punctuated by pavilions, trellises, and various planting areas, surrounded by a sunken flower garden with a large pond at its center. It is an architectural landscape that encourages the visitor to stroll around and discover the Garden's treasures from many different vantage points.

The Garden of Dreams is an oasis in the middle of bustling Kathmandu. I spent several hours at the gardens soaking up the greenery, the statues and the overall beauty and tranquility of this space. I went early in the morning and it was very quiet except for the Gardners. The crowd built up after a couple of hours. I found it easier taking photos earlier in the day. I will visit here when I am back in Kathmandu in a few months.

Silent, serene and peaceful; there are the words that would be best to describe this place. IN my previous trips to Nepal, Garden of Dreams was my my go to place to just refresh myself from the hustle and bustle of the city, all the activities and just find a quiet time for myself. Returning here after Covid, I am glad to say that not much has changed and it still offers a peaceful place like it used to before.

It cost a charge of Rs.150 per person for locals. The entry cost is worth paying as the place is very greenery and good for photoshoots. While I was studying in NIST I used to go with my friends very often for photoshoots but the coffee house is bit expensive inside.

Although the renovation is still ongoing, this is still something of an oasis in a very busy, bustling city. Whether it’s worth the entrance fee in the meantime is questionable at best. When we were there it seemed to be popular with the locals, especially the young, but they probably don’t have to pay much to get in. When it’s finished it will certainly be worth a visit.

We walked here from Thamel on our first morning on the way to Durbhar Square. Yes you have to pay 400 NPR pp but it is quiet, calm and full of interesting architecture water features and planting.
Disappointing that the Kaiser cafe was out of business, just a jumble of chairs.
Kathmandu needs more spaces like this, we have found little garden cafes to help get away from the noise/air pollution of the roads.

Overpriced, dirty toilets, very rude manager, super disrespectful towards the visitors.
*This was the worst experience in Nepal. Of course, the price for a little garden, as a lot of people have already mentioned, is way too high. But I was willing to pay it, because I needed some quite place in busy Kathmandu (to film myself, a video for my work). I was very quiet, sitting on a bench in the corner. But the stuff came and asked me to stop. They took me to the manager and he was extremely rude. They made a problem out of nothing (because everyone is filming there and taking selfies non-stop). But I was talking on camera, so this is, apparently, not allowed. Anyways, the rules are the rules (even if completely strange and stupid), but they were rude to me, spoiled my day and refused to return me my money for the visit. I felt that they don't care much about the customers and that they were disrespectful and the whole visit left me in a worst mood for the rest of the day.
This is not a good service and this is definitely has nothing to do with hospitality, which should be present in a touristic places like this.

If a break is needed from the intensity of Kathmandu, a stop in the Garden of Dreams may help.
Admission is 400Rs and behind the walls in a calm environment.
Just be aware that it's the photo-shoot spot of the city and many well dressed people will be posing among the flowers and trees.

This is one of those places that may be interesting if it's in your hometown, but traveling so far (many of us make +7000 km) and spending time seeing this... I don't think it's a good use of the time. I found it generic and not interesting. Also the price was way too high considering its size and the price of other tourist attractions.

Love the place, quite and romantic. Would highly recommend for couples. People can pay small entry charges and spend hours @ garden or can visit one of the restaurants for meals. Food and sitting arrangement in restaurants is really elite. One of my favorite place.

It's quite green and clean garden, worth visiting. It's a place to spend time with your friends and family. Not much to see as It's quite small but for some/many a place of insta pics. Fee 150 for national and 400 ( Nepali Rupee) for foreigner. One can pick a seat and can read for a few hours. You can carry water or snacks, It's allowed. Over weekend quite a good local young crowd. Overall worth visiting if you want to spend some time in greenery with birds chirping.
