About
The Garden of Dreams, a neo classical historical garden, is situated in the midst of Kathmandu city, Nepal. The Garden's design has much in common with formal European gardens: paved perimeter paths, punctuated by pavilions, trellises, and various planting areas, surrounded by a sunken flower garden with a large pond at its center. It is an architectural landscape that encourages the visitor to stroll around and discover the Garden's treasures from many different vantage points.

    Peaceful
I have been in prettier gardens but none so peaceful and welcome after trying to grab a bargain in the shops of Thames, Kathmandu. It was a pleasure to sit in the shade and enjoy the peace (well apart from the horns from the thousands of motorbikes and mopeds outside the walls). We had a very pleasant peach iced tea and lassi in the cafe before venturing out again. Happy to pay to go in again if we need to recharge.

    An oasis of calm
Do you need an escape from the hectic traffic-filled beauty and chaos of Kathmandu? Then it's time to visit the Garden of Dreams. An isle of calm in a sea of noise, people, traffic. A place to sit and relax or reflect on the multitude of sights encountered in the busting city. A place to rejuvenate spirit and reenergize the body. With a small cafe serving excellent food, this is one of the absolute best spots to stop in Kathmandu.

A peaceful break from the city
A peaceful break from walking around Thamel. I came early, as it opened, and enjoyed the quiet with a few others. As two hours went by, it became busier, but there is enough space for everyone to spread out I found a quiet bench in the shade and enjoyed the calm. A soothing place for a sensitive traveler to pause and breathe.

    Small but beautifully formed
THIS place is a peaceful oasis from the noisy bustle and crazy traffic which is Kathmandu. The gardens are well laid out with several water features, colourful planting, graceful trees and a chance to relax in a little cafe area. All that said, I still felt I was being discretely drained of as much money as the site could get out of me. Entry cost R400 or about £2.40. This is not a lot of money but it is still a great deal by local standards for what might politely be called a "compact" garden. The cafe then adds to the cost. Yes, you can ignore it, but a cool drink on a hot day is difficult to resist and that was another R170 or just over £1. I didn't begrudge the money but I'm bound to say others sat round me grumbled at the cost which was a pity as I had spent a pleasant half hour walking round the gardens and enjoying a break from the busy merry-go-round of sightseeing in Kathmandu. Overall I would say that a visit to the Garden of Dreams is worthwhile without being outstanding.

    What a treasure!
Discovering this place was serendipitous, and we're delighted we did. The setting was stunning, and the restaurant inside the premises proved to be exceptional. The ambiance, service, and cocktails were spot-on, making the entry fee entirely worthwhile. I would visit again to try some of of their main dishes.

    An Oasis!
Situated in the middle of the city this is an incredibly tranquil and lovely garden. They have done a remarkable job in the renovation and the cafe is also a lovely place to sit and have a coffee/ some cake can relax. A must visit.

Surprising green oasis in busy Kathmandu
We came here twice to meet with friends. On a hot day when the air quality is bad it is amazing to slip within these walls into the green park and gardens. On both days it was quite busy, with lots of families and young couples visiting. Anyone with an interest in botany will find plenty here to keep them occupied. I particularly enjoyed looking out for the little squirrels that make their home here.

It cost a charge of Rs.150 per person for locals. The entry cost is worth paying as the place is very greenery and good for photoshoots. While I was studying in NIST I used to go with my friends very often for photoshoots but the coffee house is bit expensive inside.

If a break is needed from the intensity of Kathmandu, a stop in the Garden of Dreams may help.
Admission is 400Rs and behind the walls in a calm environment.
Just be aware that it's the photo-shoot spot of the city and many well dressed people will be posing among the flowers and trees.

Love the place, quite and romantic. Would highly recommend for couples. People can pay small entry charges and spend hours @ garden or can visit one of the restaurants for meals. Food and sitting arrangement in restaurants is really elite. One of my favorite place.

We found this little oasis of calm whilst wandering around on our last day in Kathmandu. Very pleasant surprise to be able to sit on some grass and look at a beautiful garden with some lovely architecture in the centre of a very busy district of the city. The food in the restaurant is expensive but very good. We ended up spending around 3 hours here when we only expected to spend around 1 hour. You still hear the constant traffic noise outside but well worth a visit.

This beautiful and historic garden is in the Thamel district. Anyone wishing to visit Kathmandu must visit this garden. It is a place very frequented by people who come here to relax, meditate, relax, read, rest or simply find some peace

Although the renovation is still ongoing, this is still something of an oasis in a very busy, bustling city. Whether it’s worth the entrance fee in the meantime is questionable at best. When we were there it seemed to be popular with the locals, especially the young, but they probably don’t have to pay much to get in. When it’s finished it will certainly be worth a visit.

We just had to pass through Thamel to go somewhere else and it was amazing. We simply forgot where we would like to go... The park is wonderful, you should visit and have at least 1 hour to spend. Take a short break - watch how a squirrel climbs from tree to tree and garden to garden. A very beautiful and calm place in the center of Kathmandu. Close to Narayanhiti Palace and a short walk to Kathmandu Darbar Square and other attractions. Relax on a bench or go for a stroll and look at the glorious flowers and gardens...

The Garden of Dreams is an oasis in the middle of bustling Kathmandu. I spent several hours at the gardens soaking up the greenery, the statues and the overall beauty and tranquility of this space. I went early in the morning and it was very quiet except for the Gardners. The crowd built up after a couple of hours. I found it easier taking photos earlier in the day. I will visit here when I am back in Kathmandu in a few months.

It is a nice garden in the heart of Thamel. The entrance fee is 500 rupees and there is a nice cafe house inside. You can take a nice walk in the garden and then enjoy the masala tea later. We were planning to go there too in the evening to have dinner, but UNFORTUNATELY we were asked to pay the entrance fee again, which we found meaningless. The cafe belongs to the hotel but other hotels do not ask for entrance fee if you want to have a dinner or lunch there.
