My family (daughters ages 10 & 13 ) did a 3 week trek, and 6 week overall Nepal trip, with Swiss Family. We trekked Manaslu and Tsum valley and toured Kathmandu, Pokhara and Pharping. Swiss Family took absolutely incredible care of us through some extremely varied and challenging circumstances. We had the unique experience of trekking when the corona pandemic broke out. When we emerged from the mountains, Stephan was in daily contact and was able to provide very valuable contacts and resources while the entire country was locking down. We were well supported and felt extremely safe throughout our unplanned adventure. After seeing them respond to this emergency, I am so glad we were traveling with Swiss Family. We were in a much better position than many of the other travelers we encountered.

Our trekking was completed prior to pandemic changes and included our guide, two porters, and two horsemen (with horses). Everyone was a joy to be with and balanced professionalism with personal connection. Even though we had to amend our schedule due to excessive spring snowfall and then the corona pandemic, the changes were made with good communication and professionalism at every step. We loved the remote scenery and culture we encountered. Our group was full of smiles, energy and happiness each and every day. Our kids said it was a highlight of our 6 months of world travel.

We now feel that Stephan, Pasang, Ashta and all our other Swiss Family connections are part of our Nepali family. Any future trips to Nepal will definitely include them. Look no further for an organization that is committed to clear communication, personalized planning, high caliber guides and staff, incredible emergency response (if needed) and a commitment to Nepal itself. I cannot express how wonderful they made our Nepal experience.

It's been the third time that we book through Stephan at Swiss Family Trekking and as in our previous treks (Manaslu and Bhutan) we were in good hands from the beginning to the end. All the formalities and permits were taken care off in advance by Stephan and Ashta. We even had to chance to have Astha, one of the business partners as our guide.
On the trek itself everything went smoothly and we had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. As we are very fast hikers, Ashta made sure that we got enough hiking every day and took us to side trips to monasteries and view points. He and our friendly porter also assured that we got the best and warmest rooms in the freezing the lodges (minus 15°C inside the room at night!!! So be prepared!!). The food was excellent and there was always plenty of it, but we were grateful for that because the body really needs the energy in the altitude and freezing temperatures.
Our highlight of the trek was definitely the sunset over Everest and Nupse from Kalapathar view point.
We can definitely recommend doing Everest Base Camp trek in winter in the off season. With the right equipment!! There are less crowds and the views are cristal clear.
Also the flight to and from Lukla airport is a highlight itself.
Thanks Stephan, Ashta and Swiss Family team for the great organization. We will be back!!

From the moment we contacted Swiss family from Europe, we felt that we were in good hands.. and the moment we landed in Kathmandu and were picked up by Ashta, our feelings were confirmed. We spent three days in Kathmandu to acclimatise, followed by a pickup and transfer to Lukla to begin our trek with super Sonam Sherpa, Jaya and Eka, 2 of the friendliest porters, and Mehka and his horse Tika. The organisation was perfect and the experience unforgetable. Accommodation was simple, but varied and always chosen with an eye on the quality of the meals! We started with cloud and +15 degrees and made it down to deep snow and -15 degrees, but always with a feeling of safety and contentment. The kids (9 and 7) were well looked after and still regularly talk about Sonam and Tika the horse. A slightly more challenging time to go with the cold, but without queues of trekkers at every bridge and teahouse. We loved it. The three days at Stephan and Pasangs homestay afterwards were well worth it. Thanks to all.

Annapurna Foothills Trek for families, 8 Days

We were a group of 4 ladies and 4 girls (8, 9, 11, 13) and we did 8 days Annapurna Foothills Trek with “Swiss Family Treks and Expedition” and we had a wonderful and enjoyable experience!

From the start Stephan and Ashta (who was also our guide) were very responsive with meeting our requirements. They planned everything for us very well: detailed day-to-day itinerary, trekking permits, internal flights, food and water, accommodation, porters and also answer all our questions and advise us of everything we need once we reach Nepal.

Ashta and porters provided the highest level of service and care.

Organisation was flawless and Ashta was always professional, supportive, and made sure that all of us spent an unforgettable time.

Ashta has a wealth of knowledge of the tour area and culture of Nepal. Hearing him share interesting information and stories about local customs, tradition, and the beautiful places our journey got richer meaning in addition to exploring the mountain beauty.

"Swiss Family Treks & Expedition" is an excellent tourist agency in Nepal and highly recommended to go trekking with.

Thank you once again for everything and have a great time ahead!

I completed the Kanchenjunga Trek with Swiss Family Treks in November 2023. There were two other people on the trek with me that I didn't know prior to the trek. We had a guide and two porters. The trip went really well and the scenery was beautiful. We were taken care of really well by the guide and porters. If you are planning on doing this hike with the company and are in fairly good shape, I would recommend working the company ahead of time on the itinerary to see if some days can be combined as the walking times each day were pretty short and we usually arrived at the next night's stop between 11 and 1 each day. This is not necessarily a bad thing as there was usually something to go walk around and see near each stopping point. I would recommend cutting the listed walking times by about a third.

The entire trip was simply amazing. We loved every aspect of it - the mountains of course but also the people. Sonam, our guide and Jay, our porter were wonderful companions to have on our journey. For this Buddhist, to travel in a land where Buddhism is literally in the rocks and the sky made it the journey of a lifetime. Swiss Family Treks created a diverse itinerary for us and it was a good balance of trekking in the remarkable landscapes of the Himalayas and visits to monasteries and nunneries

I went on the ABC - Trek together with my daughter, end of december/beginning of january 2020! Unfortunatly we had to turn around because of heavy snowfall! Still it was a great experience, we had a very good guide, Lalu! And a wonderful porter too, Juwari!
Everything was perfectly organised!
But most of it I enjoyed the days we spend in Pharping, at the „ Swiss Family Hotel“, with Stephan and his wife Pasang. They are great hosts, so friendly and warm hearted!
The place is kind of magic, a huge house with balcons and terrasses, overlooking the ricefields and surrounded with buddhistic monasterys. Every morning you can enjoy the sunrise and the music and singing from the tempels!
It‘s my second time I stayed at the Swiss Family Hotel and can highly recommand it! Hope to come back once!

We did a three weeks trip through Nepal with two kids (2 and 4 years) which we did organize through Swiss Family Treks & Expeditions.
It included a few days trekking as well as Pokhara and the area around, Kathmandu Valley sightseeing, Chitwan National Park and also a few days in their Hotel in Pharping.
The whole trip was perfectly organized and we always felt safe and in good hands. We had an open ear for any type of inquiry we got during the trip including last minute changes which ensured a relaxing and mind changing trip through Nepal.

We will definitely reach out to Stephan and the team again for our next trip to Nepal.

We did the Annapurna circuit and climbed Thorong peak, which was quite challengeing due to heavy snowfalls a few days ago. Thanks to your strong team we reached the summit and got a never forgettable experience. The weather was perfect and we had a unbelieveable view over the Himalaya mountains!
Even in difficult and confusing situations our guide kept cool and worked hard to make our trip successful. Thanks to Swiss family for the perfect organisation of our trip and the good time we spent in the Nepal mountains!

An incredible 3 weeks in Nepal with our 2 teenagers (13 & 16 years) organized by Swiss Family Treks (SFT). Itinerary was superbly paced and put together. Our trekking up to Amna Dablam Base Camp was the perfect mix of culture and physical challenge. Loved the scenery and wildlife. SFT choice of guides, porters and flights was spot on. Our time in Kathmandu and Pharping was perfect for enjoying the valley sights on both organized trips and on our own. We were welcomed for an unforgettable Christmas day dinner at Swiss family hotel – thank you. Our time in Chitwan was thoroughly enjoyable with superb wildlife. Ashta and Stephan were able to help immediately when our flight was cancelled due to bad weather – always with total professionalism and a smile on their faces. Communication was timely and clear from the first email enquiry and through. We can’t speak highly enough of you and the company. We hope to return one day!
