Choosing Highland Expeditions to guide my trek to Everest Base Camp was definitely the right decision! They handled all aspects of my trip with top-notch professionalism and genuine care. I felt safe and supported by them the entire time with an itinerary that allowed me to immerse myself in the experience without ever feeling rushed or pushed too far out of my comfort zone. Trekking to Everest Base Camp is demanding both physically and mentally at times but my guide always gave me confidence and helped me stay the course to meet my goal with a positive attitude. Highland Expeditions truly cares for their guests and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering a trip with them.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of embarking on a luxury Everest Base Camp trek with Highland Expedition, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the experience. From start to finish, this journey was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to the exceptional planning and guidance provided by Passang, the owner of the company.
Passang's attention to detail and commitment to ensuring the trek was perfect in every way truly stood out. He not only provided us with all the necessary information and advice before our trip but also took the time to personally address any concerns or questions we had along the way. His knowledge and passion for the Himalayas were evident and added an extra layer of authenticity and depth to our experience.
During the trek, we were fortunate to have the expertise of our guide, Phunru, and his assistant guide, Mingma. Both were incredibly knowledgeable about the region and its history, always eager to share interesting facts and stories along the way. Their calm and reassuring demeanor made our journey even more enjoyable, and their ability to adapt to any situation while keeping our safety a top priority was truly commendable.
Additionally, I would like to express my gratitude to our porters, Ak and Milan. Their unwavering support and determination in carrying our belongings throughout the trek were simply amazing. Their strength and cheerful spirits, even in challenging conditions, made us feel incredibly well taken care of and allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of the surroundings.
The highlight of the entire experience was undoubtedly the opportunity to sleep at Everest Base Camp itself. This was made possible by the meticulous planning and excellent logistics provided by Highland Expedition. The feeling of waking up surrounded by majestic peaks and witnessing the sunrise over Mount Everest is indescribable. It's an experience I will cherish for a lifetime.
Overall, I highly recommend Highland Expedition for anyone looking to embark on a luxury Everest Base Camp trek. The level of personal care, attention to detail, and commitment to providing an unforgettable experience truly sets them apart. Thank you again to Passang, Phunru, Mingma, Ak, and Milan for making this journey an absolute dream come true.

Extremely well organized trip. Our communication with Passang started almost a year before the actual trip and any questions were answered thoroughly within 24 hrs. We made several last minute requests which were accommodated promptly without any issues. We also had a high support staff assigned to our group who were always ahead of any anticipated needs. All accommodations provided were well above our expectations and they clearly state what to expect at each place at the time of booking. The guides and support staff were in constant communication on the hike which helped our group of different pace hikers to have the required individual support. Safety was a top priority for them as they ensured they had somebody watching each and every member of our group as we passed through any difficult spots. At each stop due to advanced communication by the support staff we always had a reserved spot with hot drinks, snacks and lunch/ dinner ready or planned. None in our team of 15 members could come up with any complaint or issues with the arrangements, from the time we landed to when we were dropped off there was constant clear communication and support. If you are looking for a tour operator I am not sure if I can recommend anybody else apart from this company after listening to stories from other groups who went on this similar hike. All fifteen of us were able to finish the hike due to the carefully planned itinerary which included the much needed acclimatization days and hikes.

We recently completed the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal with Highland Expeditions and it was breathtaking - literally and figuratively! The EBC is a challenging adventure but Highland Expeditions maximized our chance of success and enjoyment. The owner, Passang Sherpa, provided excellent pre trip guidance and instruction and responded immediately to questions. From the moment we were greeted with garlands at the Kathmandu airport, we knew we were in good hands. The pre trek stay at the Marriott and the half day sight seeing in Kathmandu allowed us to rest up and introduce ourselves to our new trekking companions/family. The helo flight to Lukla was a mini adventure, but is by far the most reliable way to access the EBC. Our guides, Akash, Kalendar and Jeet were top notch and good natured, adjusting to our quirks with aplomb. The lodging was top end for the EBC (Mountain Home Lodges at Phakding, and Namche Bazaar; Rivendell lodge in Debouche), but the choices at Lobouche and Gorek Shep were necessarily limited. The provided down sleeping bags and parkas were top quality. Electric heating blankets kept us cozy for the first several nights, and hot water bottles were provided for the sleeping bags when electricity was no longer available. Boiled drinking water was provided at every meal so purchasing disposable plastic water bottles was unnecessary. Every day on the EBC is a jaw dropping experience, but our personal highlight was the pre- dawn climb of Kala Patthar (18000 feet elevation) to witness the sunrise over Sagarmatha (Everest). We were very appreciative of the helo trip back to Kathmandu from Gorek Shep; allowing us a bird's eye view of the spectacular 40 mile trail we traverersed over the preceding 8 days. This trip of a lifetime was made possible by Highland Expdenitions' excellent itinerary and supervision. You could not be in better hands. Namaste.

I’ve had an excellent time with Highland, the professional behavior before the trip even started helped get all my questions answered and they made sure all applicable paperwork was done in a timely manner. Any changes I had they easily accommodated without hassle. During the trek/climb I got altitude sickness and they were patient in going slow with me cause I wasn’t moving so well. I enjoyed the accommodations that were setup during the trip and food was great. Once I became sick they attended to me to make sure I was eating the best possible foods to give me energy and offer rehydration salt mix, pretty much doing whatever they could to get me through the trip and up to the summit of lobuche. My plan is to continue doing climbing trips with highland expeditions and only these guys since they were so perfect this past trip. Passang tsering Sherpa will do everything to make sure you have the best trip, contact him directly passang@highlandexpeditions.com

Our guides were very experienced and well informed, they knew the routes very well. My suggestion would be to listen carefully, use their knowledge and guidance and all will be well. The porters were exceptional, the luggage had arrived on time every time, they were so obliging. If you're looking for a little more adventure, I suggest trying the Goyko Lakes and Cho La pass experience, it was challenging particularly in the snow but also very scenic and exciting. i also suggest taking your own snacks/protein bars/chocolates/nuts etc, as the variety is limited it also becomes more expensive the higher you trek.

Paula (my wife) and I have just completed the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek and have nothing but praise for the Highland Expeditions team. From the help and advice Passang gave us in planning and tailoring the trip and his superb organisational skills throughout, to Aakash as lead guide for his knowledge, clear guidance, on trek practical solutions and both expectation management and support for individuals as the need arose, to the assistant guides and porters who worked so hard to make our life easier and our time on the trek so enjoyable. What an experience - life long memories and new friends made!

I just returned from the 12 day highland expedition trek to EBC. From the beginning planning stages, Passang was extremely responsive and helpful to create our personalized trip. Aakash, our guide, kept us very safe with the trekking, food, tea houses and gear. He answered all our questions about culture, religion and the mountains. Our Sherpa Buddhi was friendly and strong, always had our bags at our door when we needed them. Our trip from beginning to end was professional, organized, fun and very safe. I can’t recommend this company enough. No problems or complaints, only glowing memories and warmth in my heart for the company, Nepal, and the Himalayan mountains. I cannot wait to go back and am trying to hold onto the peace I feel in my heart! Wonderful company and people.

My wife and I recently joined Highland Expeditions for a Everest Basecamp helitrek for our honeymoon. From the start to the end of our contact with Highland Expeditions, we had excellent communication. Every interaction we had with Passang and the team before, during and after our trek showed at its core that Highland Expeditions has trekking as its passion.
The places chosen to stay at were clearly well established, clean, homely, warm and welcoming. The pace of the trek was perfect for ensuring good acclimatisation and whilst pushing us exertion wise, was entirely appropriate for the trek at hand.
Aakash, our guide for our trek, is incomparable, and is one of the core reasons why we felt so valued and looked after during our trek. No question was too stupid, seeing his interactions with other guides along the trek demonstrated how respected he was, and his interactions with the teahouses we stayed at demonstrated how much embedded in the communities along the trek route that he and Highland Expeditions were. By the end of the trek we felt we had become true friends with him and only want to keep in contact with him if we can in the future.
Passang, the managing director, is a kind, efficacious and efficient individual who bent over backwards, and was always trying to make sure our experience was the best it could be. He is creating a company and establishing both himself and his team as a leader in this field. His dedication and hard work shows in the experiences he creates and the respect he is garnering.
Talking to the team throughout the trek, it is clear that Adventure tourism such as the EBC trek is a crowded field. What is clear with Highland, is that they are a crucial part of the scene of raising awareness of how to preserve nepali values at the heart of trekking along this route, how important it is to recognise and include the communities found along the trek route in forming future plans for expanding trekking in Nepal, and how important local porters and guides are.
I cannot speak more highly of the team at every level of the organisation. If we do wish to trek again in Nepal we will be sure to use Highland Expeditions again.

Having searched around a year ago for a guide company, I am so pleased to have found Highland Expeditions. The communication with Passang from even before booking, was fantastic, right up until we flew back home after our trek. Both he and Dawa looked after our four person group (myself, my partner and two friends) when we arrived, answering all our questions and putting our minds at ease before we even got to Kathmandu.
Our two guides, Phunu and "small" Pasang, were nothing short of amazing, really engaging, funny and very good at looking after us. This was particularly evident when one my friends came down with AMS and Phunu stayed up all night helping sort out issues with contacting the so-called 24hr insurance company number (it's not 24hr) for a helicopter evacuation from Gorek Shep. They both looked after us every morning, day and night, serving tea, and food and laughs. Paperwork was done in advance and we never had to wait for anything.
Our porters, Mothi and Ajay were fantastic and I am amazed at how fast they moved carrying our duffel bags, which were always at the Tea Houses waiting for us.
I celebrated my 50th birthday partway up (at Khumjung, on day 4) and my partner celebrated her 45th birthday on the way day, a week later. We were surprised by birthday cake, singing, small gifts and Sherpa blessings. Birthdays we will never forget.
The last dinners we had with the guys were great, with good food, music and crazy dancing. Cannot recommend Highland Expeditions enough! We will be going back for another trek and will definitely be going with Passang and team again. Can't wait!
