About 4 months ago, I (female solo traveller) chose Responsible Treks for one little trek in Kathmandu Valley and also for trekking the Annapurna Circuit, a dream of mine that I've had for a long time. They were two very different treks, both exactly adjusted to what I had asked for. And what can I say: I've had an amazing time! Chhewang was there for me from the beginning, meeting with me to discuss the routes and to give me information on the treks but also other tips regarding Boudha. He organized everything in a very professional manner and he and his team took care of everything from permits to where I could get my shoes fixed. With me on the trek was the amazing Chhiring, one of the agency's well-trained guides. He took care of everything on the road and I always felt safe. He was also great company on the trek, thanks sathi, for the wonderful hikes and matches of Ludo!
Everyone at responsible treks I interacted with was lovely and very well connected and can help you out with probably everything you might need.
In short: I fully recommend responsible treks, you're in good hands here, also if you want to go to more remote places or want an individualized trip for yourself or a bigger group. Guides are insured and RT also supports great local community projects.
Safe & responsible trekking!

I booked a private 5-days-tour for me and a friend.
Our guide Sonam was not only a guide but became also a friend :)
All the costs were clear in advance, he helped me to find and buy the things I needed for the trek and the tea houses where we stayed were always clean and cosy!
Sonam knows a lot about the nature, nepalese cultre and loves to share all these interesting stories (and songs 😊) about his home near the tibetian border. As a lama he grew up in a traditional family and has an unbelievable inspiring background.

Thank you so much for the incredible experience!
I'm looking forward to come back to Nepal 🇳🇵❤️

Chhewang Lama and his team are incredible — you truly are getting waayy more than you pay for with Responsible Treks. From conscientious guides that preempt guests’ needs, to helping those with physical limitations up and down trails and difficult steps, to ordering for large numbers in rural restaurants — to cooking for large numbers in rural guesthouses! ;) — to permits and passes and assistance with the government in many ways, I have not seen a better, more comprehensive guide company, period. You will not be disappointed. Also, maybe most important, these guys are **FUN**you will have such a great time with them wherever you go!!

I have traveled the world over for business and pleasure, but to my absolute surprise, Responsible Treks and its CEO Chhewang N. Lama and their team are one of the most professional Trekking companies in Nepal.

I was in Nepal on a business trip in November and needed moment-to-moment changes in permits and flight changes and accommodations - Responsible Treks accommodated our needs under a lot of pressure.

Thank you Chhewang Lama for all of your support for our project in Humla, Nepal.

When the weather messes up the schedule and makes paths or roads impassable then you need a good local Agency. And luckily we had that with Responsible Treks. Thank you for a perfect organisation and care and the best guide. The trip through Upper Mustang was amazing and we can absolutely recommend the tour und Responsible Treks!!!

We did a 6 day/5 night trek on the Annapurna circuit with Sonam, the most incredible guide. Every detail was taken care of and we felt sure that we were in the best hands throughout. The trek was hard at times but so amazing. You cannot go wrong booking with these guys!

Spent three weeks traveling with Responsible Treks both through Kathmandu and the Humla region of the Himalayas. They were perfect. Everything seemed to work seamlessly (and I know they worked very hard to make that seem that way). Every need was anticipated, Accommodations were excellent. Food was amazing. The leaders were kind and warm and very attentive. I literally cannot think of one negative thing to say. I can't wait to go back and would use them again in a heart beat. Wonderful!

I work for a local NGO in India and required a guide in Humla (the upper-most North-Western corner of Nepal) to select three women for a 6 month solar engineering training course from three of the remote villages stationed there. I had been doing work across the border in Uttrakhand and realized there was a small, approx. 4 day window, where, if I could manage to complete logistics with a trekking agency on the Nepal side, I could manage to complete the selection visit before the up-coming semester.

This was not a simple task. It required a great deal of last minute orchestrating and facilitation. Initially, I was put in touch with Chhewang Lama fro Responsible Treks. He happened to have grown up in the Humla region, along with many members of his staff. He was incredibly helpful and managed to pull together everything that was needed as conveyed through short busts of e-mails on my end from an almost internetless locale.

I was initially under stress, but when I began conversation with Responsible Treks I understood immediately that everything would be taken care of.... and it was!

They gave me assistance in crossing over the land border between India/ Nepal and set me up in a beautiful hotel where I was received by Chhewang's younger brother Sonam. Sonam was our guide for the next 10 days and he was truly amazing. A lifelong friend. He has a brilliant personality that manages to be both quiet and thoughtful and exuberant /effusive/joyful. The interning days were spend wandering the middle peaks of the Humla valley, meeting with members of Soman and Chhewangs family, sharing intimate moments, and learning about the truly rare mix of Hinduism, Buddism, and Shamanistic culture.

I have traveled many places on the earth but this was easily the most breathtaking.

When we returned to Kathmandu we went to see the main head quarters. I was able to thank Chhewang and the rest of the staff. The whole team was looking after us and giving us tips in the city long after out trip had ended. I really can't stress how lovely this organization is. I hope you have as exceptional a time as I had... although I know that you will.
I can't stress how great this organization is.

P.S: I'll attach a photo to the page so you can see all the beauty. Humla is also considered the "gateway to mount Kailash". If you are interested in world religions... its a must see. ( look it up :) )

I am a westerner living for many years in Boudha, Ktm. Every time I need to book some transportation or to get some help to organize a trip, I call Chewwang at Responsible treks. So far, they have always been 100% reliable and professional. Thanks a lot!
