We love to travel independently but this time around we decided to book through an agency as we had very little time in Nepal. We didn’t want to waste our time planning the logistics. One of our friends recommended Third Rock Adventures to us. It would suffice to say that we were not disappointed. We were a bit apprehensive to use a local company but Naba was so helpful and forthcoming with the information that we booked our trip with them right away after the first conversation. We wanted awesome mountain views but less crowds and a trek that would last for about a week. Among the recommended treks, we chose Mardi Trek. We trekked during early winter (first week of December).

Some parts of the trail were covered in thick snow and there were very few trekkers on the trail. The pristine snow covered views and the frozen walls of the Fishtail Peak are etched in our memories. The humorous stories shared by our guide Shiva and Thule, our good-natured porter, kept us in good spirits. I sure am not surprised with the sheer number of positive reviews Third Rock has garnered. They are really good at what they do. Thumbs up to their excellent service! Would plan more trips with them in future.

Just got back from a two week, once in a lifetime trip to Nepal with Third Rock! I’m very glad we began our visit to Nepal in Pokhara, a vibrant, easily accessible lakeside town with nice restaurants and shops. We flew there directly upon arrival at Kathmandu rather than take a 6 hour bus ride. Money well spent. It allowed us to settle into Nepal without the hustle and bustle of the city - at the time I didn’t know how much I would appreciate this looking back on it!! Many places to buy inexpensive, decent quality trekking gear in case you don’t want to bring it from home. Especially trekking poles which may not fit in your bag (pro tip, you cannot carry on trekking poles so pack accordingly in a checked bag.)

From Pokhara, we did the Poon Hill trek with Third Rock and it was a great intro to trekking with incredible scenic views the entire way. Third Rock started us in Hile which avoided unnecessary trekking on the road from Nayapul. This trek allowed us to build our stamina and acclimatize at lower elevations before heading to the higher elevations of the Everest region. Our guide Rishi kept us motivated and took care of all the details, all we had to do was make it up the stairs!

After Poon Hill, we ventured to the rugged Everest region which was a nice contrast to the forests of the Annapurna region - I definitely recommend hitting both regions if you have time. Our Everest region guide, Gadul, was great and kept us entertained with stories and games, not to mention on pace to be able to enjoy the trek to the fullest. Since time was short, we opted to trek to Namche and then take the heli tour to Kala Patthar and it was one of the many highlights of the trip.

Third Rock arranged everything perfectly and was a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end. We were treated like family and felt very close to Naba and his team. I feel like we have family in Kathmandu and we could drop in anytime for conversation and a tasty meal (like the Mustang Aloo spicy potatoes at Oasis café). Thank you, Third Rock team!!

Trek to ANNAPURA BASE CAMP. This was my second trek in Nepal arranged by Naba, the first being Mount Everest base Camp Trek a couple of years earlier. I went with Naba again because the first trek was so well organized it was a simple choice. Organization and and the support by the guides and porters was exceptional as expected and the choices of Tea Houses couldn't have been better. That's why I chose Naba. From walking through the 'low' lands from Pokara up though the wooded hills, seeing monkey's, and then into the big mountains. Such a diverse and spectacular terrain. Once up at Annapurna Base Camp the views were un believable with incredible mountains 360 degrees. The sunset at BC was truly incredible. The views on the flight back to Kathmandu almost matched those at base camp (Sit on the left side of the plane). Back in Kathmandu we had a great farewell dinner with Naba. Everything was so well organized and everything was first class and especially the way the guide and porters looked after us and gave encouragement when the going got a bit harder. Such great service & support and all the 'little things' part of the cost and it was a very competitive price. Thanks Naba

It was my second time with Third Rock Adventure and my team of Babu as a guide and Nikesh as a porter . In May 2021 I did a classic EBC trek , but got a feeling it was not enough in this region. Babu strongly advised me upgraded version of 3 passes and I came in September immediately after lockdown in Nepal was lifted . The trek really turned out to be fantastic , more difficult than classic option but much more rewarding in terms of views, emotions and physical exertion. Babu and Nikesh gave me an excellent support and acted not just as service providers but as devoted friends and we had a great time together . I would also like to thank Nabin who did a great job to organize that itinerary runs smoothly . I would recommend this trek for fit and experienced trekkers and for those who would like to become experienced trekkers .

This was my 2nd visit to Nepal. Last year I did Langtang trek, and this year was planned for EBC. Even though I did not engage “Third Rock” to arrange for my trip yet I’m writing a review on this company. Story begins as soon as I landed into Kathmandu and very next day travelled to Ramechhap ( a small town from when I was supposed to take 15 minutes flight to Lukla ). Due to inclement weather, there were no flights out and I got stranded for next 5 days. But helicopters were flying, and few lucky people were able to get out. Despite my repeated requests ( I was willing to pay for myself plus for my guide) , the company that I had purchased trekking package through, could not manage any helicopter ride(s). On 5th day while sitting at the tiny airport in the state of seer disappointment and contemplating abandoning the trip and coming back home - my luck turned. Pawan the guide from “Third Rock” and his 3 people group were looking for 5th person to join their group for helicopter ride to split the cost. Since my guide could not come with me immediately, I introduced him to Pawan. From that point till Namche bazar ( 3 days/4 nights), Pawan acted as if he was my guide as well. Time to time Pawan would communicate with my guide (w/o my knowledge) to make sure that all my needs were taken care of . Most impressive part of this short stint was– that even though I did not engage/pay anything to either Third Rock/Pawan initially, still they acted as if I was their client and Pawan managed everything for me from my food, lodging to my permit for EBC etc. while coordinating with my own guide. Eventually my guide was able to catchup on 4th day before Pawan and his group was to split with me. I was to go to EBC while Pawan and his group were going to three passes. Morale of the story is choosing the right company before going to Nepal is very important. If someone asks me – I will highly recommend “Third Rock” and specially Pawan as a guide. They earned my business and most importantly my trust. I’ll be visiting Nepal in future and Pawan will be my guide

We were delighted to work with Third Rock Adventures for our November ‘22 Island Peak Adventure. From day one Naba focused on making this a memorable and safe experience for us. We were impressed how accommodating the team was to our bespoke requirements and ensured that all aspects of the trip go smoothly. Naba always kept us in the loop about itinerary developments and was incredibly responsive pre and throughout the trip to questions or as-hoc requests which was invaluable for first-time trekkers like us. And to our surprise wherever we went in Thamel or on the trek everyone have heard of Naba”s name! Naba was courteous, resourceful and has been an instrumental part in making our trip a success - cannot recommend enough!

My wife and I did the EBC trek with Third Rock Adventures and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Our guide Bhumi was incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful, and provided a highly attention-to-detail trip for us. From the arrival, to the Kathmandu city tour, to the trek, he went over and above in making our Nepal trip an unforgettable experience. During the trek, Bhumi immersed us in the culture and the life of the people in the region answering all our questions and sharing with us stories and anecdotes. Naba was excellent at organizing the trip for us and was very responsive to any questions, making the planning piece very easy. This was our first time on a high-altitude trek over the course of a week and a half but Naba and Bhumi both made us feel very prepared and comfortable through the trip.

We absolutely recommend Third Rock Adventures to everyone considering a trip to Nepal; they are fairly priced and the service they provide is really top notch. We’ve already booked another Bhutan trip through Third Rock Adventures, and we definitely want to return for another trek in Nepal again!

Six of us recently got back from the Nepal Motorbike Tour - 10 Day tour hosted by Third Rock Adventures. Do yourself a favor and try and add 1 -2 days before and after the actual trip. There is so much to do in Kathmandu and the couple extra days of relaxing on the back end were great. It's not for everyone but the Air Buddha Everest flight was really cool to add on. Not everyone can say that they have physically seen Mt. Everest. I'm not sure how, but Third Rock was able to get us tickets the night before a flight which was one of the highlights of the trip for me.

About the riding, make sure you are prepared for some intermediate to expert level off-road riding. I'd say about 50% of the roads are paved and the rest are dirt and rock. We only totaled 950km over 6 days of riding, but on some days you could only average around 35km/hr so each day was 5hr+ of riding. The roads can be narrow and a little unnerving as traffic just kind of goes whenever they can regardless of direction. Plan on getting up close and personal with others on the road including some buses. I don't think we quite understood that when booking, but I will admit it was a lot of fun once we got used to it after day 2.

This trip takes you to many of the most iconic cities in Nepal and you will see things you can't see anywhere else. We stayed the night in 5 different cities, but you stop through many others that will let you see some beautiful areas of the country. Coming from a very flat, not the same as Nepali Flat (little up, little down) that we joked about on the trip, area in the US I saw some of the most breathtaking views I will probably ever see in my life. Be sure to bring video equipment on this trip since while riding you might be prone to missing some of the sights. Now that I've watched most of my videos though I can say I will treasure this trip forever. All of the hotels we stayed in were fantastic and we were well taken care of after the long days of riding. I've not been spoiled at hotels like these before.

For the entire trip we had a full time 4 person support team. Everyone on the team was fun to spend 2 weeks with and supported anything we needed. We had a few maintenance things happen to the bikes, but the mechanic impressed me with his 10 minute fixes. Jaya was our guide and I can't say enough positive things about him. He was on top of the route, hotels, and sight seeing locations. He made sure that we were all comfortable with the itinerary and adjusted, even last minute, to make sure we were safe and happy the entire trip. I know Third Rock has a lot of different guides, but if you have a chance I highly recommend Jaya. After the trip Jaya and Naba, owner of Third Rock, joined us for a few dinners and I can truly say they made it feel like a family event. I've never been on a trip that felt quite like this one and I would highly recommend this for any bike riders who are looking for a challenge while seeing some of the most beautiful places our world has to offer.

Our trek was expertly managed by the team at Third Rock. All we had to do was enjoy the beautiful views and the friendly people. Naba frequently went above and beyond to arrange the details, even for the days we were on our own, and his expertise and passion were evident. Our guides, Rishi and Gadul, and the porters were very attentive and made the trip fun and comfortable for all. Communication was prompt and the pricing was very competitive offering great value with no surprises. We combined the Poon Hill trek in the Annapurna region with the Namche Heli-Trek in the Everest region, and the ground transportation and flights were perfectly arranged and the accommodations were excellent. Every attempt was made to assure our comfort and enjoyment.

There are many companies to choose from when booking a trekking package, and I am very happy we selected Third Rock. They are responsive, honest, and trustworthy and truly treat you like family. We made life-long friends with our Third Rock team, and I am already looking forward to my next adventure with them.

My trek to three passes in the Everest region was simply brilliant. My guide Shiva was great company and very experienced. The High passes are challenging and extremely rewarding. We experienced unseasonably high snowfall in the passes. The guide was astute and helped through every circumstance for a great adventure. At times, I had difficulty in breathing, and my guide suggested I take a break and walk at my own pace. The itinerary was perfect with acclimatization day and enough time to immerse myself in the beautiful places. I would recommend Three passes trek to everyone who wish to have amazing trek experience in NEPAL. Please choose Third Rock Adventures for any trek in Nepal.
