This is my 3rd time trekking with Unique Path Trekking and Expedition. Having done EBC and Lobuche and Langtang Valley earlier, we wanted to try the Annapurna region for a change, and as usual, incorporate another trekking peak to climb. Babu proposed climbing up Chulu West Peak (6419m), so we let him work out the best itinerary and he came up with a 17 day trek which included a visit to Tilicho Lake. This time we had a climbing guide accompany us from day 1, along with 3 porters as this was somewhat of an expedition where we had to set up our own tents at Basecamp and High Camp. Our guide Ashman is extremely experienced and well-expected. He was very concerned about our well-being and was always looking out for us and coming up with contingencies should something go wrong. Even in situations which were considered unsafe, we felt very assured because we knew we were in good hands. He made good judgment calls especially when he advised us against moving to the high camp due to the risk of avalanche. And because we couldn’t summit, we had extra days to spare. Babu used his resources to get us on earlier flights from Jomson to Kathmandu via Pokhara and paid for the extra nights in Kathmandu. He also organised a day where we could enjoy the tourist sites of Kathmandu, something which we never had the time for on previous trips. I would definitely use Unique Path again and highly recommend them to anyone who intends to trek or climb in Nepal. Prices are always reasonable and competitive and you get the best guides and porters.

I did the trek to Everest Base Camp in early September 2022. I was in Nepal solo, so I was quite nervous to be trekking alone, but my guide, Sonam, and my porter, Yogi, soon eased all of my apprehension.

Even though I was there a little bit before the trekking season began, Sonam and Yogi, made sure that I still had an amazing trip. The trip started a little bumpy when the weather was so bad that no planes were flying into Lukla. Sonam quickly assessed the situation, and called Babu at Unique Paths. The next morning, we were on a Jeep headed towards Lukla. While the jeep was not ideal, everyone's ability to work fast to come up with a solution, made me feel much more at ease.

The days walking up to Base Camp can be long and grueling, but Sonam kept a good steady pace and entertained my endless questions with his own delightful sense of humor and curiosity. Due to being off-season, the weather was usually quite foggy and rainy, which, when hoping to see incredible views, could ruin a trip like this. However, Sonam and Yogi's positive attitude made the experience delightful. While other groups of Trekkers on the trail and at the tea houses were worn out or miserable, Yogi, Sonam, and I were always having a good time. Attitude is everything!

Even though the weather was quite miserable, we got some beautiful views very early in the morning. I felt quite lucky because I would have slept right through these views if it weren't for Yogi or Sonam knocking on the door to my room and waking me up saying "Anna, the Mountains are awake!"

I was fortunate enough to do Kala Putthar as well. While it is listed on the itinerary for the trek (and on the itinerary for most trekking companies), many trekkers opt out of doing it due to fatigue once they reach Gorak Schep. However, thanks to Sonam's experience and intelligence as a guide, we had taken the time to do some additional acclimation hikes on the way, and I felt good and ready to do the extra hike... which was totally worth it.

I highly recommend the experience. Sonam and Yogi are an incredible team, and I feel so lucky to have met and worked with them.

Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek
We had a superb experience with Unique Path. The company was recommended by a friend who has gone on multiple treks with them. Our guide was a young 27 year old whose wiry frame and boyish looks belied the huge experience he had under his belt. And I'm not talking of trekking experience alone. His maturity and handling of group dynamics was way beyond his years. He managed conflicting demands and steered the group to consensus even as he ensured that everyone was satisfied in their individual capacity. Between him and his (younger) assistant guide, they ensured that they managed the varied pace of individuals in the group. Both of them, as well as porters in the group, were respectful, yet firm as needed regarding important decisions during the trek.

During the planning stage, Babu was very responsive and helped guide us through the route, requirements for the trek and what we could expect along the way. He organized down jackets for all, and even provided trekking poles for some in the group who did not have their own.

The trek assumes a certain fitness level from us trekkers. Not all in our group were of the same fitness level. It will help Unique Path if they were to provide description of each day's trek with estimated time to complete for different levels of fitness.

Mardi Himal trek takes you through thick forest. We planned the trek for late September so that we would miss the monsoon and yet avoid cold temperatures of the winter. Unfortunately, we got a fair amount of rain which made the terrain a little slippery and slushy. Weather like this also brings out plenty of leeches along the trail.

We just finished a fantastic 2+ week trip with Babu and Unique Path. Our trip was incredibly varied from KTM city exploration to safari in Chitwan to trekking Poon Hill. Everything was incredible - we had a range of amazing experiences (an elephant back safari, trekking to the top of Poon Hill, and doing an ultra light flight in Pokhara were just some of my favorites). It was really well organized and run (across 2+ weeks, multiple locations, and full days of activities).

Our guides were fantastic - Dambar throughout, Ravi in Chitwan, and Ishwor and Suresh for trekking - as were the porters who accompanied us while we trekked. They all made everything on our trip so easy and helped answer any and all questions.

Babu also helped accommodate different programs across our group, which helped us all have the vacation we wanted (group of 14 total).

For some of our group, this was their second time with Babu and Unique Path (they previously did EBC). If you're planning an adventure in Nepal, would highly recommend working with Unique Path!

We recently completed the EBC and 3 passes hike from Sep-Oct22 with Babu's Unique Path Trekking company. It was such an amazing and memorable hike!! We were a team of 22 hikers with some of us flying back from GorekShep, some hiking back to Lukla, and a few of us doing 3 passes. Babu’s team of guides and porters expertly handled the complexity of our large group, managed different itineraries and took excellent care of us throughout the hike. We’re going to tell stories about this hike forever!

Guides Rewanta, Iswar, Suresh, Ram and the porter team including Shiva, Yogi, Gautam, Bahadur and all others made sure we ate well and had a comfortable stay at every teahouse. Did you ever try carrying the pack carried by a porter? Try 100 yards and you’ll respect them more! We couldn't have made our heli and Lukla flights without diligence from Babu. We were a bit worried about the quality of the food at the teahouses and the guides made sure they were beyond expectations almost everywhere! The Italian food at Gokyo Resort was the best!!

Shiva hiked with us on the Kongma La pass and was such a big help when I broke my pole coming down. Rewanta was our expert guide on the 3 passes and knew exactly where to stop for great pictures and was awesome for me :) we still talk on the phone often. Iswar made sure our SpO2 levels were in good shape everyday and was our host in Kathmandu! I cannot believe Ram hiked with us even with a sprained knee. EBC was a dream come true and Babu and his team made it happen! When I do another hike/trek in the Himalayas, I’m coming back to Babu and his team!!

I just returned from a wonderful hike to Everest base camp with helicopter return. I was traveling solo am so grateful to Manager Babu and guide Suresh for looking after me. It is a trip I will remember the rest of my life. We started with a half day tour of Kathmandu and then flew to lukla on the next day to begin the trek. All the arrangements were made ahead of time and the folks unique path team constantly got on the phone to make sure the logistics went smoothly. Suresh kept a moderate pace and a great sense of humor. We made good time throughout the hikes and always got to the lodges on time and in daylight with energy left for the next day. The weather also cooperated this March and we had beautiful sunny skies and gorgeous Mountain View’s throughout the trek. I really could not ask for anything more and would very much recommend unique path

This was my third trek in ten years with Unique Path and the third trek with guide Dambar Bahadur Adhikari. Babu and Dambar have been in this business for a long time.

Dambar has 35 years of experience leading treks across the region. Our group ranged in age from 30 - 75 with different amounts of trekking and high altitude experience. Dambar keeps a close eye on everyone, assisting those that need help, managing diets, modifying the itinerary and booking tea houses on the move.

Babu is very responsive via email and WhatsApp and accommodating while planning the itinerary as well as changes on the fly.

My previous treks with Dambar were to EBC and ABC.

The particular trek, the final climb to Khayer Lake from Khopra Danda and back on the same day is pretty challenging as you cover 3500 feet of elevation gain and loss between 12000 feet (Khopra Ridge tea house) and Khayer Lake (15,300 feet) over five miles. We took around 10-11 hours for the round trip. The trail has been completed only recently and the construction is top notch.

There's a tea house at 14000 feet and when that is converted to lodging, it would make the trek even more enjoyable.

The highlights of this trek at the end of April were the rhododendron forests in exquisite bloom and with the backdrop of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South.

From the time we were individually picked up from Tribhuvan airport till the time we were dropped off we enjoyed Nepali hospitality. 9 friends went on a 10 day hike into the mountains with Unique Path Expeditions. We were put up at nice hotels in Thamel, the happening shopping district in Kathmandu. They held our luggage at no cost, as well as provided us gear like sleeping bags, down jacket, and poles at no cost. Some of us got local SIMs. We had a day in Kathmandu, and our hosts organized a minibus with guide to take us to the famous spots - Swayambhunath temple, Boudhnath stupa, Pashupatinath temple, and Patan durbar.

Our knowledgeable guide Dambar Adhikari with 30+ years of experience and guides in training Sudarshan, & Ramesh, and our amazing 5 Sherpas let us soak in the mountains with just a day pack on our backs. We flew to Pokhara, then trekked to Ulleri, Ghodepani, Tadapani, Dobato, Chistibung, Khopra, Khayar lake and bussed it back to Pokhra via Tatopani. We stayed in Tea houses along the way that were modest and support the locals and the tourism economy of Nepal. Rhododendrons trees were in bloom and several yellow and purple wild flowers were everywhere. New routes are being opened and the roads less traveled add to the experience with nature and also support the local economy.

The attention to detail at every stop was remarkable. One of us had stomach trouble and resulting exhaustion midway and Dambar arranged a horse from a near by village for him to complete the day's hike, and with appropriate care, bounced back in a day.

Babu Sitoula who runs the Nepali outfit made sure that nothing was missed. We even had a send off dinner :). My 1st trip to Nepal will be very memorable and I will come back again and go with the same outfitter.

I have just done a 12 day trekking to Island Peak with Unique Path. This was my 3rd trip with Unique Path (my 1st was EBC - solo in 2018 and 2nd was to Gokyo - with my girlfriend in 2019).
I have always found the service with Unique Path to be excellent from the arrival and on ground logistics at Kathmandu. Then the actual trekking guide (since my first trip I have always requested Mr Ambar) has always been the best. providing all logistical support along with a great warm personality......just a great guy.
The trekking schedule as provided was a great guide and was tailor fitted between myself and the Mr. Ambar to suite how I was feeling on the day. Just fantastic to have that flexibility and make things fit the actual day.

The later part of this trip involved meeting up with a Mountain Guide and provision of some mountaineering equipment. this was all arranged by Mr. Ambar and I was introduced to my Mountain Climbing Guide Mr. Dilip. The whole process was trouble free and just worked. Thanks so much to the corporation between Mr. Ambar and Dipip.

The trek to Island Peak was graced with near perfect weather conditions and life at Base Camp was very comfortable for tented accommodation. Really a big appreciation to all the guys who made life at BC so comfortable.
Mr Dilip provided a full familiarization with the climbing equipment (crampons, harness, safety pigtails, jumar and descender).

On summit day we rose early and started the accent early morning under a full moon. Just a magical crisp clear morning. When we reached the Glacier we took a small break and fitted our Crampons, Harness etc before proceeding across the glacier. Simply beautiful conditions and Mr. Dilip took the lead across the glacier and we climbed roped up as a pair. When we reached the fixed ropes, Mr. Dilip continued with the lead and made double sure ropes were correctly rigged.
The climb was only stopped periodically to enjoy the vast views that unfolded around us.
When we summited, we were blessed with crystal clear views and not a cloud in the sky. Just a beautiful stay on the summit with long enough to enjoy the views, take in the moment and take some photos.

On completion of Island Peak, we said our farewells to the Mountain Guide team at BC before walking back out to Lukla.

Though we mad good time on the way out. We also made time to stop off and do what I wanted to (adjusting the schedule to suite).

Overall, as always, I had a great trip. Thanks to Unique Path, Mr. Ambar and off course Mr. Dilip for making the whole experience a timeless memory.

If you do book through Unique Path, they will look after you. I'm sure they have many able guides and can accommodate you. However, I would put in a last good word for Mr. Ambar as a trekking guide.

We were so fortunate to have come to Nepal for our 3-week trek and to share this amazing experience with our knowledgeable guide Ambar and porter Kumar. Throughout the 3 weeks Ambar demonstrated great patience, compassion, and reassurance, despite issues of our struggle with AMS and flights from Lukla. Ambar's positive and calm demeanor helped us on the difficult days. We are thankful that Ambar and Babu were flexible with the itinerary. Our path was truly unique in that we made several changes to the itinerary based on our health and the weather. I highly recommend Unique Path!
