This weekend market in Thimphu is mainly for farmers all over the country. Here they come to sell their own products and all are organic and fresh. I took fresh oranges from here, really how could I miss that so? After all, ORGANIC!!
Come on, have a visit....

Clean and neatly laid out market that sells fresh produce like vegetables and fruits; dried meats; homemade honey, cheese and butter; different sorts of grains; incense powders; etc. There are also shops around it selling sundry goods and clothing and bags. Very nice place to immerse in the local way of life. Definitely worth a visit!

This was an additional point we covered during our tour to Bhutan. It is surprising to see such oraganized, clean and neat market. Also, it was not at noisy and comfortable to buy groceries, fruits and non-veg

This is the cleanest local open vegetable market I had ever visited anywhere in my life. Recommended to visit if you want to find local flavor of the available vegetables and fruits.

A must-visit place for those who love local agricultural plant products, like ginger, dried chilli, red rice, honey, turmeric, etc. Cheap and good. Example - fresh organic turmeric powder 250 gm for 100 local currency(about US $1.40).
A whole variety of market foods where the locals themselves shop . Great for photo shoots.

Above all this is the cleanest farmers market we have ever seen anywhere. The lower level is imported fresh produce while the upper level is Bhutanese-grown produce. It's typical of any farmers market however the "cityscape views" are interesting, from the paintings of mystical animals and penises on the outside of the surrounding apartment walls to ward off evil spirits to everyday life on view.

Our guide told us downstairs is all imported food from India and upstairs is the local produce.
Upstairs was a complete feast for the senses with a riot of colour and aroma and tastes.
It was Apple season for our visit and they were delicious

Definitely worth a trip if you are in Thimphu on the weekend in the summer. A little difficult to find, it's a 15 minute walk from the center of town. Just ask for the "vegetable market." It is a traditional wet market full of stalls overflowing with colorful fruits and vegetables. There is an old footbridge nearby that is very photographic and leads to a handicraft market.

Centenary Farmers Market is very close to Coronation Park. People sell vegetables, flowers, fruits, spices here. It is 2 floors. This is very clean and neat.

Next to the market is the oldest walking bridge . We walked to the other side. It is fully covered with Prayer Flags .
