Bhutan has tradition of publishing some of the most beautiful postal stamps anywhere in the world. Their three dimensional stamps were a rage. There is an excellent museum housed in the impressive building of the main post office.

You give them your picture, they will create that stamp for you at the office. They also provide a background for you to take picture in case you don't have your own. I don'r remember the price, you can ask them directly.

It took about 3 weeks for our postcards to get from Thimphu to Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. So pretty easy and I wouldn't worry about them being lost. Just make sure you get more made for your own souvenir :)
