For just Nu. 500 you can have your personalized Bhutanese post stamps printed here. Just take a picture of yourself and transmit it to their database. And if you're into philately you will have plenty of real Bhutanese stamps to choose from, of course.

Print legitimate Bhutanese postage stamps with your own picture on.
Located in central Thimphu this building houses a museum where you can see old stamps amongst other things. Several people in our group visited the counter in the adjacent office where you can download one of your own photos and have it printed out on a page of stamps. You can use these stamps to send postcards home through the regular post.

Sweet small memory at the town
I rarely send postcards during travel due to laziness, but coming to Bhutan is too much of a rare experience that all my friends and family members request postcard. I was ashamed to customized my own stamp so I purchase at sight. The staff was helpful as well.

Even if you have no interest with stamps as philately is old school, stop by. Marvel as those collections and get postcards and stamps (maybe get your own face on some) to send to your friends (only your best friends). Be assure your postcard will be on her fridge for a long while !

They allow you to get clicked in front of a Bhutanese scenery and use the photo to create stamps and send it to friends and family. We made use of this opportunity.

If you are looking for a simple present that is also cheap, easy to transport and full of symbolic value, visit the post office. They have great stamps that are treasured by collectors and curious people around the world. Look for the stamp office in the back once you enter.

Bhutan is well known over the world for its innovative stamps.
From 3D to sented covering the flora and fauna of Bhutan. Its culture, the King and the Royal family.
I had very little time before continuation of our tour visits after lunch.
So I made a dash to the Post Office Headquarters which was a short distance from our hotel.
On inquiry I was directed to the Phylatelly section. They had albums and albums of available stamps of verious kind. I was at a loss as to which stamps to choose but managed as much possible. When I presented them to my brother who is a stemp collector, he opened a new section on Bhutan in his collection.

A visit to the Bhutan Post Office headquarters is a must if you are a stamp lover. Bhutan has some of the best postage stamps in the world. You can also get personalised postage stamps made in say 2 - 3 minutes for just Nu. 200/-. Just take along a Pen Drive with photo/s or the lady will click your photo and print the stamps for you.

My husband and I went on a two week tour with Bhutan Swallowtail Tours and one of the stops was at this lovely little museum.

Interesting, informative and well done displays. Nice collection of memorabilia. I learned about an American named Burt Todd that helped the Bhutanese postal service in a very creative and selfless manner.

Very nice souvenir shop with many beautiful Bhutanese stamps for sale.
