Spent 2 weeks in Bhutan solo with Excursion to Himalayas and had a really fun time. Enjoyed lots of hiking and sightseeing and the service level by my guide and the hotels was far more than I was expecting or used to. Really outstanding! This was the first time I used a local tour agency and I’m glad I chose them. I couldn’t be happier with the experience

We were a group of 25 people all senior citizens some above 75 visiting Bhutan for a week . Mr Mindu Dorji organised a Wonderful tour . Good vehicles , great hotels at scenic locations and good mix of rest and recreation .The people are calm and peaceful . No horns and signals on the roads . The drives are beautiful with mountains and rivers They raise your spirits and you feel that you are in the lap of nature. No wonder people are so happy . The highlight was a trek to Tigers nest which some of us completed . The guides were very pleasant and well informed and kind . We visited Thimpu ,and Paro . Some beautiful Buddhist temples and scenic locations . We also experienced for the first time River rafting . Unforgettable .. Mr Mindu Dorji ,the owner of the travels organised a Wonderful cultural program showcasing Bhutans traditional dances on the last day . It was a beautiful climax to a great week . Definitely recommend this tour group as throughout the planning phase all our queries were being answered. The itenary was ideal without making us feel exhausted . One week is not enough for This beautiful country . Will visit again

Tour of Bhutan organized by Excursion To Himalayas by Mr Mindu Dorji, ( what's nos. +975 17 14 05 05) ,  Managing Director, based in Thimpu. We requested Mr Dorji to put together a tour of 7D/6N for group of 25 pax mostly consisting of senior citizens for 21st to 27th Sept. He choose Paro, Thimpu and Punaka- 2nights each and put together a tour suitable for seniors. We did have 3 members in the 50-55 year age bracket. The hotels he selected were 4 * in all 3 cities and provided with excellent English speaking guides and two vehicles. Right from the time we were picked up from the airport, travel to different cities and sightseeing spots till drop off at the Paro airport we all had a great time. There were several wonderful places we saw but the trek to the Tiger's Nest where the guide accompanied us and the white water river rapids rafting on the mochu river in Punaka were the highlights. Out of 25, 16 members started from base camp at 10 am and trekked 2.30 hours ( one way) upto the cafeteria on the way to Tiger's nest to get a good view of both the Tiger's Nest and the Paro city ;  5 of them( 3 were seniors in the age 60 to 68 years of age) trekked further to the top of the Tiger's Nest. We were surprised to see a roaring waterfalls close to the Tiger's Nest which was perched on the edge of a steep vertical cliff. These 5 who reached the Tiger's Nest,  took the Blessings of Guru Rinpoche, who established Buddhism in Bhutan several centuries ago and the helpful guide helped us find our way back. This trek each way to the top took 4.15 hours. Return trip took a bit longer due to darkness setting and we had to carefully fund our way back down. Total trek took 9.15 hours. Its advisable to start the trek from base camp as early as 8 am. Then one ( particularly for seniors) can reach base before darkness hit. We reached base well past darkness at about 7.15pm and couldn't have  made it to the base without our helpful guide Mr Kinley. I wouldn't recommend anyone with health issues to attempt beyond the cafeteria on the way to Tiger's Nest. Then in Punaka we did the white water river rafting, several seniors took part for the first time. An exhilarating experience. A must. The food at each hotel was delicious catering to the vegetarians and non vegetarians- thanks to Mr Dorji who took care of our special requests and communicated the same to the Managers of the 3  Hotels. The accommodation was extremely good and rhe rooms had awesome views from the hotels. We visited many Buddhist monasteries. Takeaways from the trip:-Tourism is the second major revenue earner after hydro electricity generation and every member of the hospitality sector:- Hotel receptionists, Bellgirls( girls served as bell boys with a friendly smile), hostesses serving food, guides and vehicle drivers spoke excellent English and Hindi and wete very courteous and helpful. On the last day of our tour, one of our member left behind his bag containing his and his wife's passports at the world's Tallest Buddha monastery in Thimpu and since our guide was well known to the Lama, the latter guessed ( thankfully rightly) that a member of this guide's group might have left it behind, called up our guide Mr Kinley and thus we got back the passports. Our friend and his wife would have had a terrible time trying to get a duplicate passport to return to India and then re apply for Australian visas which were stamped on their passports. Shows how honest, concerned and sincere the people of Bhutan are. Truly a Kingdom whose focus is Gross Happiness Index (than just focus on money and material matters )- a way of life practiced by its citizens. To round off the tour, Mr Dorji fulfilled our desire to see some cultural dances( it was off season) and arranged on the last night of our stay in Bhutan an excellent cultural evening- where we were entertained with local folk dances and songs. Thoroughly enjoyed by each member of our group. I take this opportunity to thank Mr Dorji for organizing this splendid trip for meticulously planning the selection of good hotels, menu,  taking into consideration the average age of the group members and plan for activities they could participate. Every member expressed their happiness in the way the tour was organized and enjoyed the natural beauty and several mountain- perched Buddhist monasteries- each with its own story and history to tell-  by Excursion To Himalayas, Managing Director-  Mr Dorji,  who can be reached at excursiontohimalayas@gmail.com We do strongly recommend this firm. Alisson and I are Brazilians living in Germany since one decade. We are experienced globetrotters and had a blast travelling in Bhutan. Excursion to Himalayas is a small local tour company providing amazing support for travellers aiming to explore this wonderful country. We preferred a smaller company because is more likely to tailor-made the tour according to our expectations. Travelling to Bhutan means paying the standard daily fee and expensive flight tickets. Considering the fact we did not really know the company before the trip and we had transferred the full amount to pay the tour and flight tickets, it was essencial for us to get a regular update from Mr. Mindu about the organization of our trip to feel comfortable about our decision. Mr. Mindu is extremely reliable and reactive, answering every single question you send per email in less than 24 hours. Mr. Mindu had organized a great team to guide us through Bhutan. The guide Mr. Tenzin and the driver Mr. Pema were increadibly and very professional. We had an amazing time with them during our 6 days in Thimphu, Punakha and Paro. We strongly recommend the Excursion to Himalayas! Fernando & Alisson
