We had such an amazing adventure with Bhutan TUSK Motorcycle Tours. Thirteen days of riding motorcycles all over Bhutan in all types of terrain and roadway conditions. Khandu was an amazing guide and road captain. The riding was challenging but Khandu made sure that we felt comfortable and never rushed. Every single aspect of the trip was planned to perfection, and even our last-minute changes to the itinerary were flawless. Consistently spectacular destinations (and routes), good food and lodging. Chenco drove the support truck and was always proactive in making sure we had everything we needed. Dorji shared her extensive knowledge and unique perspectives while touring all the historic and culturally significant locations.

If you are looking for a motorcycle experience in Bhutan, let your search end here. Khandu, Dorji, and Sencho provided an experience well beyond what I could have imagined. This team delivered the tour with professionalism, humor, and deep knowledge of Bhutan's roads, culture, tradition, and history that their collective effort could only receive. Their love for their country glows in them and catalyzes the fire and enthusiasm they have for ensuring their guests have the experience of a lifetime. Khandu is a true ambassador to all who love to see the world on two wheels and live the motorcycle culture. Thank you all for for a top life experience!

Summary:
Professionalism of staff: 100%
Standard of equipment/motorcycle: 100%
Personal care and attention: 100%
Value for money: 100%

I cannot praise Khandu and his team enough. The tour organised by them was the experience of a lifetime.

Khandu could only be described as a professional rider. He lives and breathes it. I am not. But he rode to my pace, disappearing out front enough that I felt I was on my own rather than following someone, then was magically there indicating with his speed and riding style when care was needed. Quite a skill.

Chencho the backup driver and all round good guy was a godsend. I came off once on some ice (low speed, no damage). Instantly he was there to make sure I was ok and help get the bike up and running. He was always about, ready to help.

Dorji my guide had a tough job. In amongst the riding we visited some beautiful Buddhist sites. She managed in minutes to immerse me Bhutanese and Bhuddist culture, teaching me more than I've learnt in many other trips in other countries.

It was the middle of winter. Very cold and some snow and ice. I was the only person on the ride. I had Khandu as road captain, Dorji as guide and Chencho driving the backup truck. With the motorcycle (a 411cc Himalayan - beautiful) and everything included I started to wonder how they were making a profit.

So I asked that question. Khandu replied "Well, we aren't making a profit". So I asked why they ran the trip for me. Khandu's reply: "Well, you wanted to come and ride". I'm still speechless at that.

Can't thank Tusk Motorcycle Tours Bhutan enough. Going back next year to see more of Bhutan with them. Can't wait.

December being the off-season time, we decided to explore Bhutan when there are fewer tourists. To make it more interesting, we decided to have a bike trip. We enquired a few places and finally came across Mr.Khandu. We found him extremely professional. But what struck us is his friendly nature. He helped us from the very beginning until the last day of our trip. We were provided well serviced Enfield Thunderbird which made our trip very smooth. The last day when we had to hand over the bike, we met Mr.Khandu himself. He has a lot of knowledge to offer about Bhutan and the neighboring countries that he has visited on his bike trips. If we plan to visit Bhutan again, we would definitely take Mr.Khandu along. I'm sure he being along, the trip would be much more interesting and fun.

Riding in Bhutan was good, But Having it organised and lead by Mr. Khandu made it awesome. Good Motorcycles, Great Staff. Its important to have an experienced rider as your lead especially in one of the most challenging terrains in the world. He also made sure the team is on high 'spirits' when we were freezing and riding in the snow. Food and accommodation arranged was also good. 7 days of riding in the Himalayas is exhaustive but Mr. Khandu and his team handled us understanding our mood & stress levels.

Bhutan Tusk Motorcycle Tours is awesome. In these tough times of Covid, BTM doesn’t lose its passion for biking and organises tours within Bhutan to Bhutanese enthusiasts giving them the same service and care as tourists. Mr. Khandu takes care of the guests as much as his bikes. He’s The One.

The seed to visit Bhutan was planted by a very close mate of mine from New Zealand some years ago and Bhutan has since been on my priority list to visit.

The dream came true when someone else, my colleague, whom I had done a 1500 km motorcycle trip with in W. Malaysia, asked if I would join him in Bhutan for a motorcycle tour by T.U.S.K.. So there we were on this 10-day trip in April 2019.

I must add that Khandu and his team (Tshering and Chencho) were just amazing. Khandu was with us the first few days.

Being a city person and although I have driven in intercity roads in North Island, New Zealand, having lived there for quite some years, and rode in W. Malaysia, riding on the roads/routes in Bhutan was a totally new experience for me - winding, a part of it had collapsed, muddy, dirt roads and the cliff was just next to the road for most parts of the way! Initially, I was concerned if I could manage but it was unfounded when riding with Khandu and his team.

I truly enjoyed these 10 days going to the various locations with knowledgeable explanations by Tshering. I want to thank Khandu and his team for:
• Arranging Himalayan bikes for us even though it was a last minute request.
• Making us feel so much at ease with their hospitality and helpfulness from the very first moment. The trip was so enjoyable with the jokes and laughter.
• I pulled my calf muscle on the way up to Tiger Nest and Tshering insisted to carry my bag for me on the way down. He was also the photographer with my camera – and a pretty good one too!
• The surprised (twice) picnic.
• Allocating time for us to shop for souvenirs and also helping to buy lip balms for me as my lips started to crack and ointment for my pulled calf muscle.

Some of the highlights for me:
• I love the local Bhutanese food.
• I read about 'foot' artist Pema Tshering and I am so pleased to be able to see him at Simply Bhutan (A Living Museum) in Thimphu, and to be able to take a photo with him. His Dharma wheel carver – I love it!
• The landscapes are breath-taking.
• The accommodations arranged were all very good and comfortable.
• The home stay along with its hot-stone bath were amazing and a unique experience. I even had the opportunity to move a hot stone from the pit to the tub for Tshering!
• Trying doma pani and cured yak cheese and I like them!

Once again, thanks to Khandu and his team for making this motorcycle tour a truly memorable one for me. Their attentiveness, hospitality and service level are just awesome!

We are a bunch of 5 bikers who travel every year to 'off the beaten path' places to experience people, culture, mountains and just get some good time on the motorbikes. Bhutan was a last minute plan and a quick google search connected me with Khandu (Bhutan Tusk) - he was extremely professional, quick to respond on email or whatsapp and had specific questions on what and why we wanted to visit Bhutan so he could tailor our experience. In a couple of days he sent a itinerary (our goal was to be on the roads and "ride hard"... and that we did (will save for a later post :) ). Khandu stayed connected with us and improvised on the plan till we reached - he was flexible, not nit picky and almost an advisor to us.

Upon landing Tshering (his cultural guide - all tour agents and visitors must have one) welcomed us with traditional ritual (which was fun) and in the evening showed us around the PARO town and the local hotspots (bars, clubs etc). The next 8 days we were on the bike riding thru Paro- thimpu - bhumtang - trongza, Punakha etc - it's been a ride of a lifetime (some awesome roads - smooth, scenic - and some really tough terrain - roads were washed out by rain and basically we rode in slush for 100kms)

Khandu is a biker himself (and a bit hardcore) - and he kept us motivated all along - sometimes by challenging us that we couldn't do it :-) and sometimes teaching us techniques on how to tackle the terrain. he is also very open to feedback and improvised on the fly - when we expressed some concern about a hotel at Thimpu - he was swift to take the hotel staff to task and then upgraded our hotels for the remainder of the trip - which was a pleasant surprise. He also went above and beyond in taking us out at Night to show night life and local hangoutsour stay was at hotels, homestays etc - in the end Khandu and team took extreme care of us - he was driven by making sure we left with great experiences back from Bhutan - which we did. Khandu is also a expert mechanic who you can trust if you are alone in the wilderness riding in bhutan.

Overall, this was one helluva trip that we'll remember for a long time and we made a good friend in Khandu. I'm sure we'll ride again with Bhutan TUSK and in the meanwhile we'd like to wish him the best

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED WITH BHUTAN TUSK :-)
