Bhutan TUSK Motorcycle Tours are one of the few motorcycle-only tour operators in Bhutan. The proprietor, Khandu, is unique in that he makes it a point to lead each and every one of his tours himself. His enthusiasm for motorcycling, his love for his country’s history, culture, traditions and environment, his deep faith and familiarity with his country’s Buddhist traditions, and his keenness to share these with his guests shine through in all his interactions. He can strip down a motorcycle and put it back together all by himself on the side of a road while at the same time regaling you with stories of the ancient temple across the mountain from you. Another endearing aspect is Khandu’s eagerness to learn more and better himself all the time. This is a fresh change from many others in the industry who repeat the same stuff and give off a “been there done that” vibe. Khandu is also very flexible and highly attuned to his clients’ motorcycling abilities, their desire for hardcore off-road riding or easy gentle rides, and will readily tweak his itinerary to suit his customers’ needs. Bhutan TUSK has a fleet of Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycles, whose mid-range power, lighter weight, decent suspension, upright posture, nimbleness and agility, make a great match for the winding twisty mountain roads and dirt trails of Bhutan. Having ridden with Khandu throughout the length and breadth of this absolutely stunning and unique, one-of-a-kind land, I will wholeheartedly recommend Bhutan TUSK and Khandu to anybody considering exploring Bhutan on motorcycles. TWO THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY!!!

Bhutan Tusk Motorcycle Tours is awesome. In these tough times of Covid, BTM doesn’t lose its passion for biking and organises tours within Bhutan to Bhutanese enthusiasts giving them the same service and care as tourists. Mr. Khandu takes care of the guests as much as his bikes. He’s The One.

Having only recently returned from my adventure with Bhutan TUSK, I'm still buzzing from the experience! From the moment my plane banked through the hills to land at Paro airport, I knew this was going to be an epic week! I was met at the airport by Dorji, my cultural guide and Sencho, driver of our backup vehicle. The welcome was warm and friendly and exiting the airport was hassle free. We soon proceeded to the first hotel where I met Khandu, my road captain for the week with whom I had exchanged many emails in the lead-up to the trip. I had arranged a week long tour with the addition of visiting schools (I'm a school Principal myself) as I wanted to learn more about the Bhiutanese education system while I was there. Khandu and Dorji were able to facilitate this request despite tourists not typically being allowed to visit schools in Bhutan. As such, I had the privilege of being able to visit some schools well off the tourist trail. The riding in Bhutan was outstanding and I had absolute confidence in Khandu as my leader. He really is exceptional as a motorcycle tour guide! His experience as both a motorcyclist and organiser was evident throughout our journey together. Khandu knew the roads, the people, the hotels, the restaurants, etc. all so well. He was adaptable when we needed to change plans due to weather and definitely up for as much adventure as I could handle! At one point we were hit with a heavy snow storm on a high pass and our day turned into an epic! And while challenging, I knew with Khandu by my side I was in safe hands riding in the snow for the first time - that day was an absolute highlight! Best of all, Khandu has a clam and positive personality that makes him a great travel partner! The Royal Enfield Himalayan was the perfect bike for this tour - reliable, comfortable and easy to ride - although I did slide off once on day two (luckily at low speed). Khandu is a great mechanic as well as tour leader and with Sencho always there to warm the bike up in the morning and keep an eye on it, I had total faith that I was riding a well cared for machine. There was not a straight stretch of road on this journey and the RE Himalayan handled the mountainous twists and turns with ease! Dorji was an exceptional guide. Her knowledge of Buddhism and Bhutanese culture is astounding. I really enjoyed all the stories she was able to share about the history of Buddhism, her explanations of the all the buddhist deities, the rituals, the cultural stories and the history of her country. Adding to this Dorji is a warm and fun person to travel with. she was very well know to many people on our monastery visits - so much so I felt like I was traveling with a celebrity some times! And of course she was able to arrange multiple school visits for which I was very greatful. And of course, there was the ever reliable Sencho driving our back-up vehicle (a great utility vehicle that was comfortable ride in when needed). Sencho was able to skilfully navigate the challenging mountain roads. He was always there when we needed and while having a quiet nature, he was always helpful, friendly and smiling! Bhutan as a destination is like nowhere else you can travel. The weather at this time of year was mostly sunny and mild. There was snow on the higher passes and some rain on one day but that is to be expected in the mountains. The valley were dry and pleasant. The food on the trip was fantastic! Freshly made, healthy, tasty and providing all the energy you need to touring. I'm a vegetarian (as are Khandu, Dorji and Sencho) and the food was plentiful and hearty. Bhutanese cuisine is the perfect food for the mountains! In summary, I highly recommend a tour with Bhutan TUSK Motorcycle Tours. You won't regret it! I hope to hit the road with the TUSK crew again soon! I miss my friends in Bhutan!

Me and my friend had planned bike ride in Bhutan in March 2020 but unfortunately had to cancel due to the restrictions put by Bhutanese government in wake to control corona virus outbreak. It all started with me and my friend planning for a budget bike ride/trip in Bhutan starting from India. But due to some constraints on travelling from India and over budget we had to let go that plan. As a last hope we tried to check with Bhutan Tusk MotorCycle tours and Mr. Khandu was generous enough to share all the details and information rules and regulations regarding the bike tour. Once we finalised on bike Booking before transferring booking amount we were bit reluctant as the communication was happening over Google maps(business) and we were not sure whether to transfer the money or not, so we tried for multiple ways to get the assurance and once again we Mr. Khandu was generous enough to authenticate the same and listened to all the requests we made like sending mail from official mail id etc. of Bhutan Tusk MotorCycle tours. Once we made the payment he sent a confirmation of the payment. Unfortunately we have cancelled the trip now. Also want to highlight that we have received a FULL REFUND instantly on our cancellation. We will definitely plan in future and plan with Bhutan Tusk MotorCycle tours. You can connect with them on Google maps by searching 'Bhutan Tusk MotorCycle Tours'. Or also you can drop a mail to tuskbhutan@gmail.com it's their official email id. You can expect a prompt reply.
