Primate Watch Safaris Offers Safe Enjoyable Tours- Highly Recommend

We spent 19 amazing days touring Uganda with the tour company Primate Watch Safari, going to almost every National Park. Flo was the main reason I picked this company out of the many endless available online.

It is difficult picking blindly without a reference, but after checking trip advisor, I sent the company an inquiry. Flo was quick to respond to my inquiry which is very important when you need to plan a trip across the world. We wired money to her bank after ironing out the trip details, and she was quick to send a receipt and acknowledge payment. (it is scary to wire money when you don't know if someone will be there to pick you up on the other end)

Ben picked us up on time at the airport and was a perfect driver, guide, and companion (extremely professional) during our long, days on the roads seeing Uganda from one end to the other. I have nothing negative only positive comments on the company, and would recommend them highly if you are considering a trip to Uganda.

Primate Watch Safaris made our trip even better than we had anticipated. We felt safe, and the lodges were amazing on the high end, and wiring money to an unknown company across the world can be scary, but I can vouch that Primate Watch Safaris is a genuine company that can give you an amazing African experience traveling to Uganda.

If you have the time please plan on staying a few days in Kidepo, it was one of our favorite national parks in Uganda. Take a good camera with good lenses because there are so many amazing photography opportunities every time you turn around. Pack light, prepared for dust and dirt, and enjoy the real Africa experience! You will move frequently...so pack light...Columbia wear that you can wash in the sink and dry overnight.

We had an emergency while on vacation, and Flo and Ben went beyond the call of duty to help us out! The last week of my vacation was very stressful, but Ben did everything he could to help us keep in touch with family members in the states. It was a tear filled last week, but Ben really tried to take my mind off all that was going on at home! Bless him

We loved our vacation, and are very pleased we booked with Primary Safari Watch.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions, or check out my blog it has our entire trip with Primate Watch Safaris

Primate Safari was excellent! They are so easy and good to work with. We emailed them last minute for a 3 day safari less than two weeks ahead of time. Flo at Primate was so responsive and even answered our phone calls in the evenings to answer our questions and we had a lot of them. Because we weren't based in Kampala, they were able to change the standard itinerary to meet our time needs and interests, so I have no doubt they would do the same for others. we had to use a local version of PayPal, Pesa pal, which was not the most user friendly (mainly because they are so fraud aware and protect against it) but Flo was more than helpful and understanding. She gathered price lists for us for different lodges and different group numbers so we all could make an informed decision about where to stay and whether to go. Our driver and guide Brian was also amazing. Everything was on time (ahead of schedule actually!) and worked flawlessly between different activities like the Ishasha Lions, chimp tracking, boat tour, lodging, and tours in the park. We went to Queen Elizabeth park which limits you to stay on roads or risk a fine, but Brian knew where to go and who to get info from so we saw all of the major animals: elephants, water buck, kob, wart hogs, lions, hippos, lizards, crocs, water buffalo, and lots of wonderful birds! Some animals were farther away and not always easy to see because you are limited to roads but in the end we got to see most up close! Brian definitely drove us around more than our itinerary called for to make sure we saw all we wanted to see. He was knowledgeable about every place and animal, and so friendly and was just there with us and for us the entire time. We also had access to knowledgable people on the ground to help us find the animals there. Our car was comfortable, every person had window access and a pop up roof to view animals from all angles and stocked with plenty of water. We stayed at the Bush Lodge which was midrange but very nice for our off time. It is eco friendly and has a great atmosphere as it is located above the channel with great views and the service and meals were great! The chorus of animals you hear as you sleep at night is something remarkable. The whole thing was wonderful. We cannot be happier with our experience with Primate Watch, Flo, and Brian and highly recommend them!

After intensive research into different tour operators in Uganda the decision to book with Primate Watch Safaris was an easy one to make because of the efficiency and great patience of Flo. Our trip was a year in the planning and every question and every email was answered quickly, thoroughly and informatively. We had an idea about the kind of trip we wanted and Flo created an itinerary for us that included all the things we most wanted to do in a way which maximised our time in this beautiful country. Flo gave us good advice on places to stay and kept costs clear, we were never pestered for payment up front and were treated as trusted customers from the outset. This is especially helpful when dealing with an overseas company you know very little about! We were driven to all our destinations by Fred. He was a revelation! Knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, fun and a genuine gentleman. He looked after us from start to finish, we didn't have to think about anything, he became our 'Mr Organiser' and took care of everything. The car developed a problem on one particularly long drive, Fred kept very calm, made running repairs until he could get to a garage and made sure we were safe at all times, he was thoroughly professional.
If you are considering going to Uganda book with Primate Watch Safaris, they are completely trustworthy and you could not be in better hands than with Flo on your side! Competitively priced too!

We used Primate Watch Safaris to see the wild chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park, in Western Uganda. We had one of the best wildlife experiences ever, and highly recommend it. Flo, who runs the show, was excellent to deal with. The tour was private, we had a good driver and the accommodation at Kibale Forest Camp - up-market tented accommodation - was very good.
It is interesting that people pay about $750 USD for one hour with mountain gorilla in Rwanda, but just a short flight away is the option of spending about $250 for a whole day with chimps - often a few feet away from you. The chimp experience is much less known.

Originally my wife and I booked out trip with Primate Watch Safaris from Kampala in mid 2013, but after paying our deposit had to cancel on medical grounds. The trip was re-activated in mid 2014 and completed in September 2014. At my request I asked for the deposit to be held over from 2013 and the company and Flo honoured this and the previous deposit was deducted from our trip a year later. This demonstrated the ethics of the company.

Our trip in 2014 was brilliant, visiting the most interesting places we could have hoped for. Ben our guide was also a birding expert and helped us identify more than 180 species, without making it a chore.

The lodges Flo booked us into were superb, high standard in all cases and a most interesting and electic selection and we felt we had a luxurious safari.

We visited Naivasha and Nakuru in Kenya, Murchison Falls, Kibale and QE2 in Uganda and Vlocanoes in Rwanda. In addition we had close encounters with Ziwa rhinos, Kibale chimps and Volcanoes gorillas. Flo put together a superb itinerary.

I have no hesitation in recommending Flo and Primate Watch Safaris for your East African safari as a most trustworthy and reliable safari company.

We did a three-day safari to Murchison Falls and Bryan was our driver/guide. We were impressed by his timeliness, driving skills and professional attitude. Next to that we had a lot of fun together. We were with family members that had never been to Africa before, and this tour was in every sense a wonderful introduction for them.

Flo organised a trip that was perfect for my special interest in primates and visiting the chimpanzees in Kibale National Park and gorillas in Bwindi were experiences I'll never forget (I'd like a job as a chimpanzee tracker for the Uganda Wildlife Authority!). The accommodation in Kibale and Bwindi were excellent, both providing very comfortable en suite accommodation with welcome showers after the days trekking; staff were very friendly and food tasty and filling. The highlight at Kibale Forest Camp was viewing the black-and-white colobus monkeys in the canopy above my chalet while the views of the rainforest from Rushaga Gorilla Camp in Bwindi were spellbinding. I also enjoyed the village walk in Bwindi where I met the headteacher of the local school along with the wonderful children.

Central to the success of the trip was being escorted so expertly by Brian who drove across Uganda while telling me the interesting history of each kingdom, its peoples and customs. Brian was very friendly and polite throughout the trip, pointing out the different types of cultivation and ecosystems as we travelled west from Kampala and I'm consequently much more well-informed about life in Uganda. In fact, everyone I met in Uganda was so friendly, polite and welcoming and I'd certainly like to return to spend some time teaching while spending more time in Uganda's wonderful national parks

I cannot say enough good things about Primate Watch Safaris! Everything was fantastic from the first email to Flo, to the last day with our tour guide, Ben. We did a 9 day safari around Uganda and my husband and I couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have chosen PWS.

Flo always responded to my emails promptly, answered all my questions (and I had a TON), and was always polite and professional! She was happy to make any changes we wanted, and adjust our trip to reflect the things we wanted to do and see. We got some of the best rooms everywhere we stayed (right by the river, or in the brand new section, for example), and I don’t think it was just a coincidence. She even called us during our tour to check in and see how everything was going. Not that she needed to- everything was wonderful.

Our tour guide Ben was truly amazing. He has a vast knowledge of the parks, animals, and the whole country. His keen eyes helped us spot many animals we would have completely missed- in the parks and on the road. He was always willing to stop for us to take photos (and even stopped to teach us about how some food is grown and show us up close!), and shared a lot of interesting information along the way. And when we left a camera in the vehicle on our last day, Ben drove all the way back to our hotel to give it to us before our flight on his DAY OFF! It is a direct result of having him as a guide that we got to see tree-climbing lions (we know because we saw other guides give up on the lions!) and were assigned to a great gorilla tracking group. We have only wonderful things to say about him. Really.

We had such an amazing trip because of Primate Watch Safaris and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone visiting East Africa. You won’t be disappointed!

I went to Uganda for 2 weeks in September 2017 and spend a year planning. Thanks to the great advice I received from Trip Advisor members, I took their advice and contacted several local Ugandan tour operators. After pinning down my itinerary I sent it out to several and decided to go with Primate Watch. All the tour operators I communicated with were responsive and courteous. But Flo really tipped the scales for us and the trip was flawless. Our guide was Ben who I loved and he made our safari the best it could be. He was patient (we stopped A LOT for photos) and genuinely concerned about our happiness and enjoyment. He also knew where all the best toilets were and how long it would be until we got to the next one!! I have referred two other couples to Primate Watch (one has completed their trip and one leaves in a few months) and they are also very happy with their experience with Primate Watch. I can't recommend them more highly.

We recently did a trip with PWS with Ben as our driver/guide. Flo was such a delight to deal with. She was both responsive and helpful throughout the process. Ben was a careful driver, always on time, and obviously loved his job. We're glad that we went with PWS.
