My buddy and I did the 6-hour walking tour with Zulaika and it was a fantastic experience! She showed us all the great stops in Kampala, including the taxi park, the best places to try the local foods, the largest market in East Africa, along with the national mosque and king's palace. Zulaika was an amazing tour guide and she definitely knows the ins and outs of the city. Highly recommend this tour, as you get to experience a unique city with a very accommodating tour guide company.

When I first arrived in Kampala I went with a group to do the downtown walking tour! This was absolutely amazing! We got to see so many things around and felt like we were in great hands even going through the busiest places in the middle of down town! The guides were so informative and could answer all of our questions! When we went through the markets Zulaika helped us with buying things we saw in the markets like fabrics, pineapple, mangoes, and avocados and helped us get the right price! When we were in our tour and saw something interesting she went out of her way so we could explore everything we wanted to see even if it was not planned. It was such an amazing experience and such great guides it prompted me to stay in contact for future trips.
This past weekend I planned to go with a group to Lake Bunyonyi again with Zulaika and other guides! It was truly the trip of a lifetime! Amazing hikes which lead to the most amazing views! Boat tours, exploring all of the islands! We also did zip lining and a ropes course! We only had Friday 1pm until Sunday night but it was such an amazing organized trip I felt like I was there for a week!
If you have even a short period of time in Uganda definitely do one of the two! Best prices I could find with amazing quality and value!
Thank you so much for everything! :)

We had a brilliant tour with the lovely, friendly and knowledgable Zulaika. We started off at the Gadafi Mosque with fantastic views of the city which helped you understand where you were before heading off to various markets: a cheap but brilliant handicraft market, then a massive sprawling market selling everything under the sun which I couldn’t have navigated alone with the limited time I had. It was a brilliant introduction to daily life in the city. I’ve lived here for a few months but have been so busy setting kids into schools and getting set up I hadn’t managed to see almost any of normal daily life. I really recommend the tour- other friends are hoping to do this tour soon but may ask for other specific sites. I didn’t know what I wanted to see but it was spot on!

I have done four tours with Kampala Walking tours, the 6-hours walk twice, the food tour and the trip to Jinja. On three tours Joan was my guide.
I save all the details about the trips as they are listed on their website and in different reviews. Make sure you take good shoes and carry some water, since due to the weather conditions and the topographic situation all tours (apart from the food tour) are exhausting. Also make sure that you do not have breakfast on the day of the food tour, as it involves a lot of food.
Joan was an excellent guide. She has a great sense of humour, is full of information about the history of Kampala and shares interesting insights into modern society and everyday living in this country. She looks after you in the buzz of Nakasero and Owino market, makes sure that you get your photos and is also flexible to change the itinerary if necessary.
Overall I can highly recommend Kampala Walking Tours.

I bet you love to explore those busy bustling markets of Kampala and the moment you got there you realized, "Holy how am I gonna do this on my own??" Well, don't worry cause you can do this with Kampala Walking Tours. My guide was Zulaika - she's fantastic and super patient with her her clients. She take you to the tour of her own town as it's her first time explaining all to you - with so much passion and interest. You get to see 3 fantastic craft markets, perfect for souvenirs and many historic monuments. Her tours can include the hike to the main mosque of the city which is a decent hike but worth to see that side of the city too.
Ask your guides to try the street foods. they would take you to they local vendors and you eat authentic snacks. I love the experience of strolling the city and discovering the market with them. No way I could or would have done all those markets on my own. Thank you Zulaika, thank you Kampala!

Zulaika was an amazing guide for our 10 day group tour through Uganda. She knows the best stops and has the experience that always makes your group feel comfortable. She was also able to work with our budget and time restraints while still giving us the trip of a lifetime. Highly recommend!

The lake shore breeze, islands scenery behind the entebbe airport was really gorgeous to see. Its where we got to know the history of the first missionaries that landed in Uganda. Also the reptile village that helped us to view all the types of reptiles and wiled animals that i had never see were openly seen under the great kampala tour guided by humorous Zuliaka .Last but not list the Aero beach that is just near the airport was timely viewed when me and my friend were signing out for a flight,of course the glamour and exuberance that went with the tour did not miss.I can not wait to have more city tours with Kampala tours

We had a wonderful experience working with Zulaika and her team at Uganda Walking Tours. She put together a customized itinerary to Bwindi that fit our needs and was in budget. We especially appreciated her “insider knowledge” on lodging, restaurants, and excursions that was much more unique and authentic than the larger tour companies that have operations outside of Uganda.
We can’t wait for our next visit!

We did the 6 hours walking tour. Sounds long? Time passed by very quick. Sounds exhausting? Not to much, have good shoes and sun protection with you. Zulaika, a very cool and smart person showed us many places which we would never have found on our own. Through that busy African market up to the kings palace we got an good overview over the aspiring city of Kampala. We had a nice dinner in a good local restaurant, tasted some snacks on the market and learned a lot about Kampala and Uganda. Don’t miss that tour when you are in town.

The Owino market probably has more textiles than the Nakasero market but they are quite near each other so in walking distance from town centre. Most people are friendly so dont be afraid to ask directions.

If you only want to stay in Kampala then I suggest Kampala Walking Tour. It is about 1/2 day and will provide you with highlights of city and history. Also reasonably priced.
