I attended Sunday mass and it was great to see how the Catholic church is universal - it was just like home. The order of the mass and best of all how they kept time as they had a number of masses following each other. Reminded me of my church - Consolata Shrine in Nairobi. Oh and they sang some songs in Swahili. That was awesome!

Rubaga Cathedral is the heart of Catholic Uganda. When you go on a normal day, you can get a guided tour of the cathedral. On Sunday you can attend a service, in English or in Luganda. Even when you're not a Catholic the choir sings beautifully. But be aware that a service in Uganda can easily take up to 2 hours.

Beautiful church very welcoming. The choir was spectacular. The adoration chapel was so sacred and lovely. The priests homily was very instructive and entertaining.

This was the site of Pope Francis' visit to Uganda in November 2015. Makes visiting it after that, all the more special.

Besides the other religious buildings, like the Anglican Namirembe Cathedral, the Bahai Temple, the Sikh and Hindu temples and of course the national mosque should a visit to Rubaga be part of every city tour.

We were very impressed with the Speke Resort Hotel, which is different than but affiliated with the Speke Hotel in the downtown area, which is old and nice but more basic - no pool, etc. The Resort has all of the amenities that you'd expect from a top of the line resort, and very reasonably priced.
