A visit to the mosque will enable one to learn a lot about the Muslim religion and culture. The tower gives a breathtaking 360 degrees view of Kampala. The people were so nice they lent us appropriate clothing for free, and the guide was so knowledgeable and took us all around the main mosque complex. Our visit coincided with the call to prayer while we were in the main prayer hall, and that proved to be a very moving experience. Our guide Fridaus was very kind and informative about the mosque, its history and how it operates. We were very pleased with our tour topped off by climbing the steps to the top of the tower where there was a tremendous view of Kampala. We learned about the area and buildings in sight and came away from this trip much more educated about the mosque and Kampala. Thanks to our tour guide Fridaus. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Kampala, it was certainly one of the highlights of our trip to Kampala.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 14, 2023

A pleasant place to visit. Situated on the old hill in the very centre of Kampala, a climb to the top of the Minaret offers you the best views of the whole of Kampala city. Ensure you take a guide - who will explain the history of the mosque along with a bit of the history of Kampala itself. A must visit on a city tour of Kampala.

The view of Kampala from the top of the minaret is great. An entrance fees of 20,000 Uganda shilling / $7 per person is Charged at the Tourism information Office where an informative guide is provided to take you around. Beautiful architectural design of the inside of the biggest mosque in East Africa whose construction was a donation from the late presidents col. Maumar Gaddafi and idd Amin.

The capital of Uganda has much more to offer than hectic traffic! The Gadaffi National Mosque, now known as the Uganda National Mosque, is one of the “newest” buildings that you definitely should visit.
This is a Skyscraper kind of mosque, since it also has a tower where you can see the entire Old Kampala from above. This mosque can hold almost 20,000 worshipers: 15,000 inside the mosque, 1100 in the gallery and almost 3500 more in the terrace.
There is an office at the entrance of the parking lot where you can buy your tickets. Also if you are not a Muslim and don’t dress according to the Muslim rules, no worries, the same office where you get your tickets can help.

Bearing in mind this place was originally financed by Idi Amin and then Gaddafi, you can imagine what kind of place this is. On the plus side, it has nice carpets and a minaret giving great views of Kampala.
On the down side, it's pretty standard and dreary because it's very modern. Women not only have to cover up, but get told that men are more important and that male prayers are more important. Also, that women are not allowed to pray during their periods because, and I quote "unclean!". They are 100% serious about this, women are hated in this building, but not so much they won't take your entrance fee.

The mosque is Libyan with chandelier from Egypt, paint and design from Morocco, carpet from Libya as well. It is rather serene in the middle of a city that is constantly bustling with activity. Climb the 300-odd steps to the top of the minaret for a full 360 degree view of the city. All for nothing more than a few dollars. Finish it off with a cool drink from one of the nearby kiosks outside the mosque grounds. I came here by boda-boda but wouldn't recommend it to those faint of heart.

The guide who took us to the top of the minaret was extremely knowledgeable and he talked to us about the history of Kampala and the Buganda kingdom. It was a very interesting experience and it gave you a real feel for the different parts of town. Totally worth the entry fee.

Is there an entrance fee? if so, how much - broken down by locals and foreigners, if applicable. Does it cover the tour guide fees or is that additional?
Thanks

If my memory is correct, the entry fee is about 5USD for foreigners, including a tour guide and a scarf for covering women's heads. It's an interesting building and climbing the minaret stairs is well worth it for a great view.
I'm talking with a girl who says that she wants to marry me but I don't believe her because she don't know me. Is this a set up??? I'm African American from U.S. and currently live in America. She says she's a virgen and she needs a husband

Ok. Wrong forum to begin with. Please find an appropriate channel to put your query.
Also, just as a fellow human being, why would you consider marrying a girl just because she is willing....i mean it takes more than that no?
That and only that is important. If marriage had any meaning here, you'd know better than asking random people.
Lastly, I doubt if your ethnicity or her status of being a virgin really makes a difference in this equation.
Two cents. Bye!
