This is the second time I have traveled with my family with Amakula African safaris. The first time was an amazing Uganda experience where I only booked with my work friends and this second experience with my entire family and other friends to Kenya to see the migrating beasts,Rwanda for genocide,Uganda for Gorillas was equally amazing. Simon organized both tours for us and tailored them according to my wishes and I thank him for as long as I kept changing he gave us the best.
Amakula African Safaris is a boutique business that is very personalized and offers you the equal and more than a large corporate operator. The price point is compatible with group tours but you will have your own personal driver and guide for yourself and there is nothing to compare with this luxury. Because of that, you will also be able to adapt your days schedule if you wish according what you want and not what is a groups plan.
We were completely happy and satisfied with all aspects of our travel (on both trips). Simon knows the safari tour industry and is constantly working to improve the business, his knowledge about lodges, the parks, restaurants and all minute aspects of the tour. He will be able to personally attest to the quality of whatever product he is recommending to you.
Patrick was our guide driver in Kenya and we can only say that he was amazing. He knew more about wildlife (and every birds name and details) than an encyclopedia, was an amazingly adept driver in sometimes rough conditions (traffic, rough park roads, etc.) and looked out for our interests. While respecting the animals, he went above and beyond trying to make sure we saw every different animal we could. We appreciated that he obviously respected and cared about the animals we were seeing. (Not all safari drivers do and will do anything to try to get to see something up close, even while encroaching too much on their space.) We had a minor vehicle difficulty but the team made sure that everything went smoothly and we didn't miss a minute of our trip or schedule. He is quite an asset to Amakula African Safaris. Patrick and drives on Kenya trips but if you go to Uganda, I highly recommend Moses who was equally great.
Overall, the trip was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. If you haven't gone on a safari before, you should trip to put this on your life plan. There is nothing like it and when you plan it, you want a safari operator that will listen to your needs, wants, and budget and tailor it to fit you. Amakula African Safaris will do that in a personal way.
Our lodges that Simon picked were magical and the food was outstanding. There was nothing about our trip that we would have changed. I highly recommend Amakula African Safaris if you want to travel to any of the East African countries. If not those countries, then reconsider them over the more commercialized ones (such as South Africa) and you won't be disappointed

We spent 10 days touring this beautiful state and we couldn't have asked for more. SIMON the reservations officer was very accommodating, made sure everything was well planned and was generally very responsive to emails. Amos has been an incredible guide, super knowledgeable. It's been a real pleasure having him show us around.
All around this was a fantastic experience and we definitely recommend Amakula African Safaris to anyone wanting to discover Uganda.

Being in Europe minus internet or any referrals to Africa one may not really think of another kind of life after your home.In January 2021 landed on a Facebook account named with Amakula African safaris ltd where they had posted some good images of how people go to AFRICA in particular Uganda for Gorilla trekking,Chimpanzee trekking, white water rafting and other activities. I liked the content and immediately someone sent me a message thanking me for liking their content and gently asked me if I’ve ever been to Uganda . In the conversation I later got to know that Uganda has very hospitable people ,advisors and very welcoming. I landed on Simon who happens to be the general manager with this company. I really thank you Simon for opening up to me and letting me know how I could spend my leisure time in Uganda. my husband and children loved Uganda so much and we shall be coming back every year .We loved the gorillas and the adventure part of the white water rafting in jinja

We were so surprised with this Company at first. Following my initial enquiry, I received a reply from Maria the reservations manager of Amakula African safari and letter a Skype call with Simon , also from Amakula African Safari. They deployed for us a young man who we all first thought was to bore our trip and this was before we met the entire team. When U spoke to Simon on phone, he seemed an old very knowledgeable man who we thought had stayed I this travel business for a while but to my surprise............
We landed on a team of young well dressed very knowledgeable and passionate young men And a lady who welcomed us thorough Entebe International Airport to some hotel called via via around Entebe.
You may be surprised on how I am applausing this team but I move in a wheelchair but when I tried to book with a different company I was not given a chance because someone comfortably told me they had no provision for people like of my nature.
My daughter did so much to see that I celebrate my 60th birthday in Africa to have a different setting all round but when we contacted Amakula African Safaris ,chance was there and am glad to refer this team to anyone who would need a private tour for two people or more with dedicated to discovering the southern part of the country. Without being fanatics, we enjoy bird watching and had requested a guide with knowledge of birds. We had not expected to be given one of Uganda’s top birding guides! Patric was incredible .

This guy is also a very careful driver; not slow, but extremely prudent, which has not always been our experience with bird guides who also drive.
He was constantly enthusiastic and we had great fun adding to our list of sightings on the free Birds of Africa app. We saw 175 different species.
Patric seemed to know people everywhere, which added to the enjoyment of the tour, especially because some had not seen him in two years, due to COVID.
The whole tour ran like clockwork and there were no unpleasant surprises.
Should we return to Uganda, I know which guide we’ll want!

When the whole world closed up for COVID pandemic, we had booked Amakula African safaris to travel to Africa for a festive season holiday through a fellow Rotarian called Simon who doubles as the travel agent. Truth is we felt so bad and hopeless, very many people died and Simon advised is to postpone the trip. Funny enough we had already paid up for our trip almost 1/3 of the total we were supposed to pay. Yes Simon is a fellow Rotarian but who knows the games people play over the internet. W trusted him with our money and guess what he kept communicating to us to keep us updated on whatever the situation was in Uganda and East Africa in general and atlast we managed to see travel safely to Uganda and we really enjoyed the 16 days in the Pearl of Africa. We can't thank you enough Simon together with your friends at Amakula African safaris. And except another group to book with you from us. Happy new year guys.

We went with Amakula African safaris to Uganda for the Gorilla trekking safari in Bindi national park, the golden monkeys in the bamboo forest and a trip up to Queen Elizabeth National park.

This was an absolutely amazing experience. We had Boaz as our guide and he has so much good knowledge about the wildlife and the areas. This could not have been any better. And i would not hesitate to book with this company. All the email correspondence have been accurate and quick.

I would definitely travel with this guy's agein.
