We have just returned from an amazing trip to Uganda organized by Anne and Gazelle Safaris! It was so easy to work closely with her from the US, figuring out what we wanted to do , what we enjoyed, and the budget we had - hiking, kayaking , wildlife, chimpanzees,  endangered golden monkeys and gorillas. She was ever present on WhatsApp throughout our booking experience, advised us about Visa applications, was flexible, trustworthy, and my wingman in more ways than one.  Richard was the best guide/driver ever- my cheeks are still hurting from laughing so much! It was a goal from way back to Dian Fossey. Thank you to Ann and your team! I would highly recommend using gazelle Safaris to design your dream vacation

Aside from the half day city tour with Gazelle as reviewed, I had also taken a 8 days 7 nights Trip with Gazelle in Uganda.

As a female solo traveller, being able to experience the local culture whilst ensuring safety are my top priorities. As an avid solo traveller herself, Annabel (Ann), was able to step into my shoes and ensure that freedom was not compromised at the expenses of security. From the initial planning stage till the last day at Uganda, Ann had been extremely helpful in selecting accommodation, planning the tour to accede to my interests, and managing expenses to fit my budget. Despite some minor hiccups in communication, Ann was quick to adapt to my mindset and understanding. Ann had great connections in the industry and was able to efficiently resolve last-minute emergencies. Ann also makes sure that she gets to meet the client as they land and she has been very open to receiving feedbacks of all sorts, always trying to improve and excel. Overall, Ann is an amazing figure when it comes to empowering women in the tourism industry and I am always in awe of her hospitality.

With regards to the trip itself, I had the opportunity to pair up with guide Richard, who is the guide-to-go when it comes to female solo traveller as he had the resemblance of a father figure. Richard made sure that all my needs were well accommodated and was also a great driver when it comes to arriving at the destination safe and on time. Richard is also a guide with big personality and his own points of view, certainly conducive to informative conservations. Overall, communications can help ensure that both of us are on the same page.

I had been able to successfully track the chimps, gorilla, and golden monkey, as well as visiting the local communities. This cannot be done without the assistance of Ann and Richard. One tip will be to opt for road trip as opposed to aircrafts (despite the relatively long travels), that way one can see more of the local life and culture on the way, and view Uganda from a perspective that is not normally available to tourists.

If you want a taste of the local life and indulge in the local lifestyle, choose Gazelle.

Laban and Matthew did an excellent job on this tour of Kampala. I'm a solo traveler and it was my first time in Kampala, and uganda for that matter. I quickly warmed up to Laban and Matthew, and they acted more as my close friends than people I paid to take me around! They gave me so much historical info on almost EVERY SINGLE thing we passed, and were constantly sharing their own experiences with local culture. We went to many places, including the kings palace, bahai temple, and gad mosque. Not only was it great to see these places, but the two made me feel like a movie star by having me pose in front of the buildings for some nice shots to take home! This trip is one I will not forget for my trip to kampala. Book this if you'd like to get a better idea of the past, present, and future of Kampala!

I didn't have a lot of time for sight seeing in Kampala and this half tour with Gazelle Safari was the best decision ever. Mathew was my guide and he was all that and then some more. He was very polite and professional the entire time. He didn't rush me through any of the sites we visited and was very accommodating as-needed. He is very knowledgeable and learnt so much about Uganda than I would have ever thought! He is very passionate about his job too. Honestly I could go on and on about my experience but truly it was 100%. You should def book this tour and ask for Mathew. He will make you feel like you are the most important client ever!

Think you know all about Kampala? My multi-bachelors guide Mathew/Matthew will definitely suggest you otherwise (he has degrees in digital marketing, human resources, and very soon, law).

To name but a few, knowledgable, critical, friendly, hospitable, are some prime qualities of Mathew. Despite only having spent half day with Mathew, I had gained a lifetime of knowledge and a lifelong friend. I am constantly overwhelmed and impressed by his passion in Kampala's history, his insights in Uganda's social situation, and his interests in sharing with me Uganda's culture. From our visits to the Kabaka's Palace, to our visits in the Uganda National Mosque and the Uganda Museum, Mathew provided all the essential information that I needed to know and provided critical answers to each question that I wished to know. Mathew knows all about the city and is also a global citizen who has in-depth knowledge of other countries, very likely even your own home country! You will be amazed as you engage in constructive conversations with Mathew.

I will also have to thank you Gazelle's founder Annabel/Ann for arranging and organising this half-day tour on my last day in Uganda. This is certainly a perfect semicolon (not a full stop!) to my 8 days Uganda trip.

As a solo traveller, there was never a dull moment with Mathew, who had also been entertaining, talkative and caring. Words simply cannot encapsulate how professional Mathew is. If you want something extraordinary, Mathew is the guide-to-go.

Hillary, our guide, provided me and my friend an absolutely amazing day exploring Entebbe and the nearby swamp! We started the day by being picked up and a basket with water and fruit was provided. We took 2 different boats to find the incredible, elusive, endangered shoebill stork and luckily we found one and got to take pictures and study him. Then we got to go to the Uganda Wildlife Center and see some animals up close, including the shoebill stork and chimpanzees. After a delicious traditional lunch, we visited the Reptile center and saw some scary snakes, got to hold a giant tortoise and hold a couple of chameleons. Then we went to Botanical Gardens and walked through the gorgeous place seeing rare trees and a few birds and monkeys too. All 3 places had a knowledgeable guide included to take us around. Then to my surprise Hillary set up a table with a birthday cake and sparkling grape juice served on China and wine glasses. What an amazing experience! Finally I had asked if we could top buy the markets some could buy a few souvenirs to take back home since it was my last day in Uganda and he obliged and didn’t make me feel rushed at all. This was a great way to spend a day when you have a late flight. It’s definitely worth adding an extra day to your itinerary. Just so you know, save back $50 or so to pay for one of the boats that isn’t included. It was still worth every penny! Thank you Hillary!
