I was planning a Uganda safari holiday for myself, my wife and 4 close friends almost 12 months ago. I contacted several Uganda based companies and Home to Africa was the quickest and best at communications. I dealt with Hedmond and he was so helpful in suggesting a 12 day safari itinerary plus 2 nights in Entebbe on arrival in Uganda and then 4 nights relaxing on the Sesse Islands at the end of the safari. All the accommodation suggested was perfect with great locations and superb food. I wanted to use a local Uganda based company as I feel it is important to ensure your holiday money stays in the country rather than end up with a multinational company not based in the country. Sending a large bank transfer for holiday deposit many months in advance can be sometimes worrying but I was assured as to the safety and security of our deposit. Payment receipts were almost instantly received which was reassuring. When we arrived in Uganda, we met our guide, Karim, who was instantly friendly and unfailingly helpful. We visited Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls NP, Kibale Forest NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, Bwindi Impenetrable NP (for gorilla tracking) Lake Bunyonyi Lake Mburo NP and then finally had a few days on Sesse Islands. The whole trip was fabulous and made special by Karim's knowledge and Home to Africa's flawless logistics. We saw so many animals and birds including an early morning encounter with a pride of lions in Murchison NP and 2 leopards just after a kill in Queen Elizabeth NP. Uganda is such a lovely country with such friendly people and stunning scenery. I have no hesitation in recommending Home to Africa to anyone planning a safari holiday in Uganda in the future.

“Home to Africa” is an excellent company. From initial contact to the end of our 17 day Uganda tour the organisation and delivery were faultless. Hedmond replied promptly to all queries, discussed the itinerary in detail and was always happy to consider and make amendments. Accommodation was good and met, and sometimes exceeded, our expectations.

Benon, our guide, must take the credit for our wonderful experiences in this beautiful and varied country. On game drives his enthusiasm and love for his country was obvious; early starts meant that we were usually the first vehicle on the road, he happily responded to our wish to sit and watch rather than to rush to the next sighting, he was informative and always keen to find answers to our more obscure questions. As he became more relaxed in our company his warm personality and sense of humour came to the fore. Our safety was always a priority and his advice in terms of the more strenuous activities was invaluable. Thank you, Benon, for making this trip so memorable.

Highlights of the trip were game viewing in Kidepo National Park, chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (it certainly lives up to its name!) and beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. Hopefully there will be an opportunity to return and see more of this “Pearl of Africa” – in the company of Benon, of course.

From the planning stages of the trip to the trip itself, our experience of dealing with Home to Africa was fantastic. Hedmond responded to our emails instantaneously and the 12-day itinerary was tailored to our wishes. Benon, our guide and driver, was not only very kind and knowledgeable, but also always very punctual and just like us excited and happy about each day of the trip . We felt safe with him on many bumpy roads as he was also a careful driver.
My husband and I travel a lot and we always work with the local agencies. We usually find them on Trip Advisor. In case of your trip to Uganda, look no further. Home of Africa will make your trip as enjoyable as memorable.

My mother and I did the 10-Day Wildlife Big 5, Murchison Falls, and Gorilla Trekking Safari with Home to Africa. Firstly, if you’re booking a trip to Uganda, you’re not going to regret it. It’s an amazing country, with beautiful people, great food and incredible landscapes. In comparison to other countries more renowned for their wildlife, I can say from experience Uganda outshines them all as you can see all the animals in numbers and from close range. Before arriving in Uganda, all of the organization went smoothly thanks to Hedmond and his team. Emails were answered promptly and always very informative.
As soon as we arrived at Entebbe airport, our guide Benon welcomed us with a smile. We didn’t know it at the time but Benon would turn out to be one of the greatest highlights of our trip. I can’t recommend this company more highly and if you get the chance to have Benon by your side you’ll be very lucky. He always went the extra mile to ensure our trip was perfect. His enthusiasm for his country and its animals was addictive. Not only did he drive all over Uganda with us, he provided a valuable insight and treated us as guests in his country, always taking good care of us with a constant smile.
He’s such a gentleman, and on parting ways at the airport both my mother and I were extremely sad to say goodbye.

Our trip with Home to Africa was just wonderful. We did the 12 day Budget Safari & Gorilla Trekking which included the Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, Chimpanzee & Gorilla Trekking, Bwindi, Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo NP. The organization was very good and Hedmond always replied quickly in case of any questions from our side.
We also were positively surprised by the accommodations, as we didn’t know what to expect from the budget category (always a proper and comfortable bed, very nice views from some of the lodges, in most of the cases a hot shower, own bathroom except for the tent in Murchison Falls NP, food was good and plentiful, staff extremely friendly and accommodating, no issues with charging our devices).

Our guide, Danny, was amazing. We learned a lot about Uganda as he explained so many things on the way, he always had an answer to our questions and he also showed us the local food, as we were interested in it (you don’t want to miss out on the food at the pork joint he recommend, it was so tasty). The game drives with Danny were exceptional, he always knew where to go and provided us with a lot of information about the animals. The highlight of the game drives definitely was when we got up very early in Queen Elizabeth NP in order to see the lions roaming around. He anticipated where they might be as we saw them eating their prey from a distance the evening before. In the morning we were in the right spot and they came very close and the best thing was that no other vehicle was around for at least 30 minutes because it was that early, so it was really peaceful.
Through our entire trip he always made sure that we had an amazing experience, which we definitely had.

Thanks for everything!

What an incredible holiday! The team at Home to Africa excelled themselves, delivering a tour of the Masai Mara and surrounding area that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

From crossing the Masai plains, to a Hippo-filled boat tour and cycling Hell’s Gate national park, our guide, Ken, took care of us from start to finish, creating a superb itinerary. With plenty of off-roading (great fun, but plenty bumpy!), we managed to see everything, from Hippos to Hyenas, Lion cubs to Leopards. The team had a wealth of knowledge about the animals and the area, which our daughter was able to soak up, whilst enjoying the hospitality of an incredibly welcoming group of people.

If you want a private safari that gets you up close and personal with incredible wildlife, whilst soaking up the African culture, we can’t recommend these guys highly enough! This is definitely one for the bucket list.

We wanted to do a longer honeymoon tour in Africa and I did a lot of research into tour companies and activities. I finally found Home to Africa because they had incredible reviews and offered tours in Uganda (we wanted gorillas, chimps, and a grassland safari).

From the start, Hedmond was quick to respond to all of my questions and helped us through the process of figuring out our first ever trip to Africa. We felt like everything was perfectly taken care of and we were in good hands.

When we came out of the airport, or temporary guide, Balam, was there to greet us. He spent the day with us and told us all about Uganda and the animals we saw. He was great for the time we had him.

The rest of our 12 day trip was with Karim and he was the best guide we could have ever hoped for. He knew every animal and faces about them (even identifying a bird by a call I imitated), he told us all about Uganda, culture, food, and even taught us some words in Luganda. He accommodated everything we wanted to do, called some of our lodges ahead of time to tell them it was our honeymoon (and they often planned something special) and spent every minute making sure that we were having an amazing time. He is Home to Africa’s head tour guide and has trained a lot of other guides, and it really shows in how amazing he is. I highly recommend asking for Karim if you book in Uganda.

Every lodge we stayed in was gorgeous and unique in it’s one way and all of the food was always delicious. We definitely never went hungry.

Home to Africa really took care of everything for us and made us feel so welcomed and relaxed on our vacation. We will be using them again the next time we go to East Africa.

The trip was absolutely amazing, it was beyond our expectations. We did the 8 day trip in Uganda, with gorilla trekking and words cannot describe the feeling when you see all these beautiful animals up so close! the booking process was nice and easy,

Hedmond was great help and gave us lots of tips and alternatives in terms of things we want to see and do, and where we want to stay. the actual tour was amazing, our guide Derrick was excellent, very warm and friendly, his passion for wildlife was amazing and it showed though his knowledge of all the animals and birds, he stopped the car when he saw something we didnt or missed, and tell us exactly what it was and about it, he literally knew everything we asked and much more, and he was a funny guy to be with! Both Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking along with bush walks to see Giraffes/Zebras and boat trip of the Kazinga channel to see a groups of Elephants were just some of the highlights. Most of the accommodation the tour group offer were unreal, the lodges in some of these places are just amazing as the views were something else! Would recommend Isunda Lodge, Parkview Safari Lodge, Bakinda Lodge and Arcadia Lodge Buyonyi for some very very impressive views!!

10 out of 10 for me. Best trip I have been on. I would highly recommend this tour group, and Derrick our guide as it was be a nice and easy process based on your needs and wants for the trip, and you will have such an amazing time on the tour with him! Thanks again!! P & M xx

My husband and I have just returned from 12 days Uganda safari trip including gorilla and chimp treks. Everything from start (planning) to finish (drop off at airport) went smoothly. The trip was planned so thoroughly with Home To Africa that we never had to worry about anything the whole time we were in Uganda.
Our driver/guide, Benon was amazing in every way, excellent driving skills navigating some very difficult and bumpy roads with care and consideration for our comfort and safety. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and the best trails to take to maximise the chances of seeing the greater variety of species and he always had extra information to give us about everything we saw. Benon always took extra time to look for more difficult to spot animals like the leopard which we would certainly have missed without him. The little extras like stopping in the middle of a long hot drive and preparing fresh pineapples and mango for us deserves a mention, it was always most welcome! He was with us every step of the way always giving more than 100% to ensure we had the most amazing trip of our lives. By the end of the trip he had become a friend we will never forget.
We had taken the budget option for accommodation and found every lodge/tent we stayed in to be clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The staff were always friendly, smiling, polite, and attentive. The food was delicious and fresh - no such thing as processed rubbish often served in U.K. restaurants!
We found Uganda as a whole a wonderful country to visit, beautiful unspoilt landscapes and the most friendly and welcoming people.
It is hard to pick out highlights as everything was special in it's own way but being able to be so close to gorillas and chimpanzees was incredible and would be unlikely that could ever be topped.
This has truly been the experience of our lives, thank you Home To Africa making it possible we will definitely recommend your company to everyone we can.
An especially big thank you to Benon our amazing guide and friend for everything you did for us ,we truly appreciate your care and kindness.

I have been traveling with home to africa tours in Uganda for 6 days. Our guide was Karim and I think we were very lucky to share the time of the trip with him. home to afruca helped us and solved all the doubts, Eli helped us with the visa, she returned so that everything was in order. They offer a great variety of tours on their website and the prices are by far the cheapest, and the service is exceptional. we went simply for the gorillas, but uganda is much more !!! the people are really friendly, the conida very rich, the incredible accommodations ... also,
we went in the rainy season and it hardly rained. The tour that they offered us made us know the country, how varied the landscapes are ... really, for future interested parties I recommend that they go at least 7 days, and that they do not doubt that they are traveling with the best travel agency. Thank you Karim and the entire agency for giving us an unforgettable memory!! I can not wait to be back to Uganda :)
