We wanted to do a longer honeymoon tour in Africa and I did a lot of research into tour companies and activities. I finally found Home to Africa because they had incredible reviews and offered tours in Uganda (we wanted gorillas, chimps, and a grassland safari). From the start, Hedmond was quick to respond to all of my questions and helped us through the process of figuring out our first ever trip to Africa. We felt like everything was perfectly taken care of and we were in good hands. When we came out of the airport, or temporary guide, Balam, was there to greet us. He spent the day with us and told us all about Uganda and the animals we saw. He was great for the time we had him. The rest of our 12 day trip was with Karim and he was the best guide we could have ever hoped for. He knew every animal and faces about them (even identifying a bird by a call I imitated), he told us all about Uganda, culture, food, and even taught us some words in Luganda. He accommodated everything we wanted to do, called some of our lodges ahead of time to tell them it was our honeymoon (and they often planned something special) and spent every minute making sure that we were having an amazing time. He is Home to Africa’s head tour guide and has trained a lot of other guides, and it really shows in how amazing he is. I highly recommend asking for Karim if you book in Uganda. Every lodge we stayed in was gorgeous and unique in it’s one way and all of the food was always delicious. We definitely never went hungry. Home to Africa really took care of everything for us and made us feel so welcomed and relaxed on our vacation. We will be using them again the next time we go to East Africa.

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how wonderful this trip was. From our pre-trip communications to our last hugs with Karim, our experience with the Home to Africa team was exceptional. They worked with us to design a trip that met the various needs and dreams of our family of five. It surpassed our expectations! And Karim - tour guide extraordinaire! He continually went above and beyond. For instance, at one of the lodges there was no electric in our cozy, lovely tent cabin. My husband uses a CPAP machine to sleep at night. While we were sitting in the lodge sipping wine in front of a roaring fire and listening to live, native music before dinner, Karim and a staff member were running a cable and power strip through the woods down to our cabin so my hubby could plug in his machine! If you are looking to book a safari, please, look no further. You won’t be sorry. And ask for Karim!!!!

Well, Africa was always a big dream of mine. Before the trip it was very exciting and I was worried about everything. But the main question was, not even a question, but request ))) let the guide be adequate and sweet 😀 From the very first moment I knew that he is the person who will make this safari tour unforgettable. Educated, well-mannered, calm, kind, with a pure heart and knowing the answer to any question. His name is Amos Kaggwa and he is definitely the best guide I ever met, he loves his work to the moon and back. Africa itself left a huge imprint in my heart❤️ We saw gorillas at arm’s length, that was impressive. Spending with them around 1 hour, watching them eating, walking, stroking each other and taking care of each orher was absolutely worth every cent spent. We also were very lucky to find a climbing lion on the tree after his fight with the little cob. Thank you for this experience.

Booking with Home to Africa for a 3-Day Gorilla trek was a great choice! I do not regret it at all, it was amazing. We were picked up by our guide, William, at a guest house in Entebbe. The drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest took around 10 hours in total. William was so incredibly accommodating to us on this drive. He stopped to pick up some local street food along the way like roasted bananas (so good!), and fresh pineapple! He told us all about the different parks in Uganda and about local food and street culture. The road to Bwindi is nicely paved, so most of the trip is relaxing. The road into the forest is unpaved and a bit treacherous. William navigated the road like a champion! Broadbill Camp was an AMAZING place to stay the night before the trek. The forest is cold cold cold, and the camp is deep in the jungle, but the accommodation was extremely comfortable. The food was way better than expected, practically a gourmet meal. It was incredible. This camp was the most interesting and adventurous place we've ever stayed. We loved it. We had a small bag of snacks that a forest mouse tried to enter in the middle of the night, but that was our fault for leaving it out. The mouse was no issue at all, it's his home, not ours. If you put your food in a more sturdy luggage bag, you'll have no issues at all. Breakfast was also amazing, and the staff were incredible. The trek itself was very organized. The park rangers were excellent. It is important to bring some cash to tip the rangers. Bring at least $60000 in $20000 bills ($20000 = $5 USD.) You'll want to tip the cultural dancers before the trip - local women who put on an amazing display, the gorilla trackers who stay in the forest all day long keeping an eye on the gorillas, and the official hiking guide. I saw people giving them more money than we did, but $20000 ($5 USD) is adequate for each. I was cautious of the tipping, but after experiencing the whole thing, I truly wanted to tip them more. They work so hard. Our trek went well, we walked about an hour or so into the jungle to find our group of gorillas. And the hour we spent with them was so cool, we had the dominant male Silverback in our presence for the entire hour. It was sooooo worth it!!! ***The fire ants in the jungle are no joke, they are very big! But if you tuck your pants into your long socks you'll have no issue. You should also bring gloves, just in case there's a lot of mud. Each of us fell at least once because the trail was muddy and slippery, but the rangers provide you with walking sticks that really help!! And please, do not forget bug spray or bug lotion. There are a lot of mosquitos in the jungle, especially around the gorillas.**** After our trek we were taken to Lake Bunyoni to the Eco Lodge, which was an amazing amazing amazing stay. The food was great, and the accommodation was extremely comfortable. Treat yourself to an African Chai tea in the lodge for $8000 ($2 USD). There are crested cranes and many small birds on the island which were very fun to see. We couldn't have enjoyed it any more! The drive back to Entebbe was difficult and tiring, but we still had fun. William was the best driver and we highly recommend him for your trip! He was so accommodating and helped us find an ATM when we ran of cash. He also provided us with plenty of water which was so important! He was the best of the best! Make sure to tip your driver well! They deserve it. In Entebbe, I'd suggest staying at Anna's Bed & Breakfast. She can provide an amazing stay and a trip to the airport. We had the best dinner at her B&B, for only $10 USD each (get the fish), and the breakfast the next day was really delicious. All in all, choose Home to Africa. We loved it!
