I just got back from a fantastic 12 day Best of Uganda Rwanda Tour organized by Saso Gorilla Trips. I am breaking this review into three areas: Guide, Company, and Overall Tour.
Guide: My guide for the tour was Jamal Malinzi. I can't say enough about Jamal. His English was excellent, driving skills superb, and overall details and communication regarding all the sights on the tour were clear and easy to understand. I greatly appreciate the care Jamal took to make sure I arrived safely to destinations, that I was well fed, that the accommodations were up to standard, and that I was aware of all options to enhance my travel experience. He was a great travel companion and I am grateful for the service he provided.
Company: I evaluated responses from a dozen or so companies when I was gauging which company to select for my tour. It was clear based on how Saso articulated the details of my tour itinerary, provided a competitive tour value, and ensured all my questions were answered that I knew I had made the right decision in selecting Saso. They were honest, straightforward, and clear with all their answers that I was put at ease traveling from the US that everything was going to be ok - and it was. Everything went exactly as planned from the time I was picked up at the airport in Kampala, to all the tour activities in Uganda and Rwanda, to the time I was dropped off back at the airport in Kigali. I am grateful to Saso for making my experience in Uganda and Rwanda a memorable one. They are a fantastic company.
Overall Tour: The 12 day tour that Saso organized included the all the key highlights of Uganda and Rwanda that included primates, wildlife, food, community and water activities. It was the complete experience. All rooms were booked and available in advance, food options were great, there were no issues with guides and tickets for activities, the travel car was clean and well maintained, and there was plenty of water provided. I was overall very happy with the tour Saso organized.
In summary, Saso is a company that I highly recommend if you are looking for a complete tour of Uganda and Rwanda. They are very honest, have fantastic guides, and provide a competitive value for a tour experience that can be beat.
