My colleague and I did not have much time in Sudan, and had Osman organize a condensed 3D2N trip to pick me up from the the airport, take me to see the pyramids and Meroe, and then onwards to Karima / Jabel Barkal. The itinerary was:

Day 1: Osman picked me an my colleague up on time at Khartoum Int'l Airport, got us to Meroe by late afternoon to enjoy the sunset at Meroe, and then we headed back to a comfortable hotel.

Day 2: Went from Meroe to Karima, and got in by noon to enjoy a local lunch and visit the museum and burial sites. Then in the late afternoon, Osman took us up Jebel Barkal, where we had a view of the Nile and the surrounding villages, and looked down at the Temple of Amun. We stayed at the top until sunset, enjoying a view of the pyramids at the foot of Jebel Barkal. Osman then took us to the town for tea with locals at the town square and then dinner.

Day 3: Karima back to Khartoum Int'l Airport.

The above itinerary would typically have taken 4D/3N, but Osman was willing to accommodate our tight schedule, including driving longer hoiurs per day and getting up earlier so that we could cover enough distance per day, and get in to the main sights with enough time for relaxed sightseeing.

We did not want to spend too much on hotels, but Osman found us comfortable and clean lodgings with basics such as hot water, good sanitation, etc. His car was comfortable with air conditioning that was working very well (very important when driving through the desert during the day). It was also very easy to communicate with him, and he was always willing to share some cultural insights and even teach us some Arabic.

My week in Sudan was an incredible experience, jam packed with amazing sights and the opportunity to get a real feel of Sudanese culture and hospitality. This was all possible because of Osman. Osman is passionate, caring, professional and meticulous in what he does. The service he provided was outstanding. From organising visas, permits and PCR tests, to sharing knowledge on local sights Osman had it all covered. After a few days it was very clear to me that Osman is constantly striving to provide the best service and experience. The highlights of the week for me were sunset at Karima, taking a small boat down the Nile, Nuri and Meroe Pyramids and perhaps my favourite of all, the Dervish ceremony in Omdurman. The week was jam packed, but with flexibility to spend as long or as little at each sight as we liked. Accommodation is basic but Sudan hasn't quite got the tourist infrastructure that you might expect from it's neighbouring countries. The food was delicious and plentiful. I don't usually do tours when traveling but I would consider taking tours in other destinations after enjoying this one so much.

When planning my trip I requested quotes from various tour companies. As a South African who has done historical tours in different countries such as Egypt and Ethiopia I found Travel Sudan Tours provides an experience beyond what one would expect from a Tour company.

I was happy with Travel Sudan Tours even before going on my trip because of the level of engagement in assisting me to prepare for this trip. The itinerary I had requested usually takes about a minimum of 9 days but Travel Sudan Tours managed to create a package that would allow me to do it in just 6 days.

I had been waiting to experience a travel back in time through the glorious kingdom of Kush since 2019 and I’m glad Travel Sudan Tours was there to make it a very memorable experience for me which I will cherish for life 🙏🏿

Destination: Ar Kaweit
Location: Red Sea State
Distance: An average of 9 hours from Khartoum
Duration of Trip: 3 days
Length of Stay: 1.5 days

Wanting to take a quick break following a few months of hard work; and most importantly, wanting to escape the "HEAT" in Khartoum, I have contacted Osman to suggest a suitable place that I could visit and enjoy outside Khartoum, and he did not disappoint. Ar Kawit was the best destination to go to in order to enjoy nice weather, nature, and serenity.

Not to mention that Osman was the best tour guide, companion, photographer, assistant, etc. He was fully prepared and did not miss a single detail; he brought everything we could have needed (except for the coffee haha!). I should add that he is a very nice, honest, straightforward, respectful, patient, considerate, and helpful person; in short, the best person you can travel with. He provided me with all the details of Ar Kawit prior to our travel and upon arrival to ensure that I am as comfortable as possible; he also told me of my accommodation options, attractions to visit, and activities that could be done over there.

Talking of Ar Kawit (now my favorite travel destination in Sudan), there is too much to see over there so the right company makes the most of the visit. The popular attractions are:

1. The dam
2. The mountain (the view from the top of the mountain was magical)
3. The shrine of Osman Digna (not to be confused with our Osman haha!)
4. The hospitality/presidency palace where Jaafar Nimeiri, a former president of Sudan, used to spend his summer (as they say).

Not sure if I missed another attraction, however, these were the places I could visit provided the limited time I had there. I also enjoyed having my coffee and very nice conversations with Osman at a tiny local coffee shop called Atanina (if I am not mistaken), and I enjoyed dinner (especially Fool or beans for non-Arabic speakers) at the "Ar Kaweit Resort". The Resort also offers accommodation services and the place is well maintained and clean; I, however, decided to stay at the "Youth House" just across the street because I was not planning on spending much on this trip. Better come prepared for this one (mosquito net/repellent, food, drinks, blanket, towel, slippers, batteries/power banks, flashlights/lamps in case, soap, and basically anything else you could need). This is all I could remember, I hope I didn't miss out on any other detail.

Long story short, I had a wonderful time and I would definitely visit again and spend more time there. Enjoy the photos (all of which were taken by Osman).

My friend and I traveled with Osman in January 2020 and had an excellent experience! He was super helpful to get our visas and advised us on our preparations for the trip. During the trip, he helped us interact with the locals and told us everything about Sudanese history. Would 100% recommend to anyone who is thinking about taking a trip to Sudan and wants some guidance!

Sudan is a very safe country. We contacted Osman for a two-day tour of the Meroe Pyramids and he was very helpful and responded to all questions very fast on WhatsApp. He organizes everything for the tour, all needed papers and permits. The tour was with the guide Abdulwahab, who is a very nice person and knows much about the history of Sudan, also his English is very good. And there was also a driver, who was very experienced in driving safely in Africa, also he prepared our food. I highly recommend Travel Sudan Tours for every tour in Sudan.

Our trip to Sudan was very educational, revealing and simply amazing thanks to Sudan Travel Tours. We spent with Osman 4 days and traveled to so many beautiful places in the North of Sudan, discovering its yet unexplored history, nature, and people. Osman is very kind, friendly and flexible and is always ready to accommodate any extra wishes. He also knows a lot about Sudan and is eager to share his knowledge and answer any questions that interest you and help you feel part of the welcoming Sudanese community.

Sudan is completely safe to travel and has so much to offer. As it is not yet crowded by tourists your experiences will be very unique and authentic and Osman will make sure that this happens. He will help you plan your trip and make sure that you discover most of Sudan within the timeframe you have. And he will also make you want to come back to this amazing country and explore it further.

I joined Osman for a 10 day tour which was an incredible experience. We were very well looked after with accommodation, meals and daily itineraries and he gave the freedom to explore and as well as provide local knowledge and expertise throughout the day. I would highly recommend this this company and I hope that those booking an experience or tour with Osman enjoys it as much as I did.

My trip with Osman consistened of two parts, first we went to the Annual Flowers Festival, where we got to walk in between beautiful flowers and greenery, I enjoyed the air and discovering of new species with Osman. It was delightful, comfortable and perfectly timed, not too short & not too long.

The second part was just magical, Osman took me to Totti island, one of the most historical areas in Khartoum, I enjoyed the drive between the local houses and the trees.

Osman took me to the Mogran, the exact point where the White Nile and the Blue Nile meet.
It was a magnificent experience ! The view was astonishing, the Nile was calming, we sat and watched the sunset from the unique Mogran.

Overall it was an overwhelming experience, I enjoyed every moment of it, I ended up running in the Fields of Totti out of excitement 😬.
