Had a lovely staff member walk us around the mosque during a Sunday morning when no one was praying. The mosque is pretty and clean and quite imposing from the outside with the noticeable square tall tower. Worth a stop.

Our experience of our visit to the mosque is very different to other people's. My husband and I were refused entry to the mosque without any explanation, even though other people were admitted. I was wearing full length trousers, a long sleeve shirt and wore a scarf on my head, the same as for the dozens of other mosques we've visited across the globe. My husband was also wearing long trousers and a shirt. There were no prayers at the time.
We started to enter the mosque after removing our shoes but were refused entry by the man at the door. I asked if we should return later and was told we couldn't enter. I asked if we could return tomorrow and was told "no", though he refused to say why. Long story short is that it's a waste of time visiting if you expect to see inside because you may randomly be refused entry.

Beautiful place of worship in the centre of Dakar, the mosque complex is large and located near RTS building.

La Grande Mosquée has a nice architecture. I like the square minaret with a green pattern. I didn't enter, however, so I can't say anything about the interior.

This large mosque complex is just that, a large mosque. Not particularly interesting and extremely hot to walk around .

This mosque is huge, serving the entire area on Friday for jumma prayers as all near by mosques are shut on Fridays. From the exterior it's quite drab which is surprising for the main mosque of the city and country.

A beautiful mosque, recently updated. Peaceful, cool. Be sure to dress very conservatively (LONG skirt and head scarf). I was able to borrow a longer pano/wrap from another visitor than my (I thought) conservative skirt, so I was able to visit all the rooms females can visit.

Bonjour! Merci!
