I really love art so it was cool to see. It was empty on a Saturday and the locals said it is most lively during the week.

Varying levels of craftsmanship but with a little diligence you can find some really amazing artists and art.

Oh this is a must see! I enjoyed it immensely and the tour was much better than going to African markets.

for art lovers, this is a real gem nestled in the middle of nowhere! A district of Dakar.Prés of the road leading to the airport. You will meet magicians of color and creativity. Several shops, not paying mine, and behind their doors of treasure without names. I met the great master Daouda Ndiaye in his den of creation. I met the talented Baba Ly and his master paintings. I met Gibril, and his NOn metal works recycled. He insists. He wants to be the starting point, and so and so....

I was looking forward to visiting this place, unfortunately I went on a Sunday and there were very few artists present.

Having said that, the few artists I engaged with were very friendly and open to show and talk about their work.

One recommendation I have for this community of artists is to clean up the common areas. Make it nice, colorful and welcoming to visitors... They definitely have the collective creative minds to do this.
At the moment it is quite dirty and messy.

Some really interesting art for art and travel collectors. You just have spend money (not much) in every shop you choose to enter. If not interested or not willing to spend some money don’t go inside. It felt like they see it as an offensive act. You will be invited to get into shops. Decide first, which ones you wish to enter!! And Bargain Bargain Bargain... you shall get 40-50% discount on everything. The guy in the shop tells you something is for 10,000 CFA ($18) you go say 5,000, aiming to accept it for 5,500 or maybe 6,000 at the most

These folks are super-friendly and happy to show you their art. While the grounds could really use some tending, a visitor just has to look past that to appreciate the paintings, etc.

The market has a wide variety of masks, carvings, jewelry, and fabrics, many of which are very unique. The selection of many of the crafts is more extensive than elsewhere in Dakar. Prices can be a little high to start, but if you negotiate well, they are fairly reasonable. The shop owners are friendly and not too pushy. Definitely worth a visit and very close to several nice hotels.

Amazing place where you will find real artists painting. No hassle. No hard sellers. To the contrary none lf them would adress you unless you do. Sadly this place is being confused by some reviewers with Village Artisanal which really is unfair as the latter is a very commercial touristic area with no original art creator (and very pushing traders!). Some of the reviewers actually visited Village Artisanal instead of Village des Arts!
