3-Day Private Tour to the Casamance Region from Dakar

Casamance is the area of Senegal south of The Gambia. It is a region of large rivers and sacred forests of kapok and palm trees. Casamance is Senegal's breadbasket and home of the Diolas, one of the tribes that has most preserved the purity of its animist African customs. The Diolas are also considered Africa's best architects, proof of which can be seen in the way they build their houses. You can visit a Diola village on fascinating Carabane Island. Casamance is also home to Cape Skirring with its superb beaches and ideal year-round climate. Morning pick-up from your lodging.

I can strongly recommend Ali and his team, as providing a comprehensive and very well organised tour. Everything ran smoothly to plan, from the pick up to the return to our hotel. The driver and guide were fully accommodating and I must compliment our driver on getting us safely along the highway. I would not like to drive that route. We were allocated additional drivers and guides for the days in Niokolo-Koba. The guides are especially to be complimented on their detailed knowledge of the terrain and wildlife. Because we were especially interested in spotting and photographing birds we were particularly delighted that the guides on both the boat and Jeep trips were totally knowledgable of the names and calls of all the birds we saw. Ali oversaw the whole trip and was totally committed to making this work for us, from the moment I first contacted him from home to the moment of our return.

We arrived in Senegal without any plans and soon realized the difficulties of getting around. We contacted Ali from Andaanda (also one of the owners) who within a day was able to come up with the exact itinerary to our desires. We had an idea of which cities we wanted to go, told him our number of days and after several emails back and forth all was set to go within a DAY!. Ali was very professional and kind. He even let us pay the trip cost in split payments due to our ATMs not allowing the full amount to be withdrawn. Now to describe the tour itself: We got every city we requested with activities scheduled. But more importantly our tour guide ALPHA WAS AMAZING. He made our two weeks with him unforgettable. This guy knows his country and knows every key person everywhere we went. He is kind, funny and caring. He makes sure everyone is happy at all times. Very professional and friendly!!! Our driver Barra was not an English speaker however very kind, very professional and hands down one of the best drivers I have ever seen in my life. Overall, we already miss Alpha and Barra after spending two weeks in their beautiful country. Every cent spent here goes to the locals (not big foreign companies) btw so would also take that into consideration. We stayed at very nice hotels with good food and a great time. Would rate this trip from beginning to end: 10/10.

Ali at Andaando put together a 15-day trip-of-a-lifetime for 6 of us (2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 children-- ages 4 to 73), starting in Dakar and ending in Somone. The van we traveled in had plenty of room for us and Ali. He and our driver Pape Sene (sp?) were both knowledgeable and great company. The children burst into tears when we said good-bye at the end of two weeks. We would absolutely use them again and recommend them to anyone. We worked in advance with Ali to set up a 15-day itinerary including 3 days in Dakar (city tour, Goree Island, Lac Rose); Lompoul ecolodge in desert overnight (camel rides, dune buggies, huge dunes to run up and down, tents to sleep in); 3 nights in Saint Louis where we stayed in bungalows on the beach (day trip to Djoudj national bird sanctuary and a St. Louis night tour with horse and buggy; back to bungalows for special Christmas entertainment and dinner); visited Grand Mosque at Touba en route to 3 nights in Palmarin ecolodge (good swimming pool and food) with trips to see birds and fishing villages; final stop in Saly/Somone with day trips to Bandia Reserve and to Popenguine for beach and nature reserve. . The weather at Christmas time is great. Lots of sun and light winds. Enjoy!

My wife and I were in Senegal and The Gambia from Dec. 15-26, 2019. I first want to thank Ali for his prompt response o all of my questions. He always responded immediately. We mad a very good itinerary. We saw so much the slave house in Goree Island, the big mosque in Touba, the Bandia National Park with lots of wonderful animals, the Djoudj Brid Sancuytary to see all of the pelicans- an amazing site, the camel ride and overnight in the Lompoul desert (all in Senegal), the Crocodile Park in The Gambia and many other experiences. Ali arranged for us to be taken to Mass for Christmas Day. The people were so kind to my wife, who uses a walker. The guide, Alpha, was fantastic. He know more about American culture and life than many Americans. He spoke fantastic English. I highly recommend him if you tour these two countries. The driver, Barra, was also great. He was an excellent drive and he and Alpha were also helpful with my wife. I am not surprised that Andaando has so many excllent reviews. Ali, Alpha, and Barra surely deserve them.

I had a great time with Ali and his driver checking out the city, Lac Rose and later with some other friendly guides for Joal-Fadouith and Goree Island. Everything was easy to deal with Ali. Also props to the driver for fixing a flat tire in a quick time to get me to the airport on time.
