I went here Sunday night for birthday celebration on advice of my tour guide. I was dropped off by taxi at entrance and had to walk up a very long hill to get to the top. There was a bus at bottom of hill but no one approached me to let me know the bus takes you to the restaurant. This is my first visit here. How would I know? I reached the top 15 mins later exhausted and tired. What if I had heels on? Food excellent but very slow service. Waitress forgot my water after I had finished eating and brought it 1.5 hours later at end of meal. No one came to see if I wanted another cocktail as well. I felt like I had to chase waiter down to get second drink. No one came to say how is your meal, etc. The live music was excellent as well as the views and food. My suggestion is to have bus driver at entrance asking people if going to restaurant and if need ride to the top. Also suggestion to have waiters approach to see if everything ok or need another drink etc. I would have had more cocktails but I don’t feel like I need to chase waiter down to get drink if I am a paying customer.

my first visit since a while as the restaurant was being refurbished. it was a great brunch experience! very family friendly. The lady owner, saloum saloum, was so welcoming! I understand that some pressure is made on the waiters to watch and remove things on the clients tables quickly but they need to be careful not to be too pushy and rush clients. strongly recommended place for a family brunch.

This is a fairly nice walk on a path surrounded by lush vegetation up to a lovely bar and restaurant at the top. We only had drinks so I can’t comment on the food but the spot is lovely and the view is unbeatable

The light house is a must see. The view of the ocean, sunset and the city is amazing. There is restaurant inside and I had a wonderful whole fish. They don't encourage you driving the hill. So, you have to park your car down, they shuttle you to the top. I guess they don't want people drink and drive the hill. The parking is well secured and nothing to worry about. The restaurant has live music but starts late usually. The price of the food and drinks are reasonable and there is an entrance fee. Using the entrance fee ticket, you get one free drink.

How nice after the busy life in Dakar, after the hot and humid air, after fighting your way through traffic, after squeezing between the horrid yellow cabs to come here. The air is fresh, the seats confortable, the hostess Diana always present with a nice word for each guest, the service is good but the cherry on the cake is the live band. I just love it. The saxophonist is great and the singer fabulous.

The Phare is on the other of the mammelle hills and frankly offers a similar view of the city as the top of the statue of African renaissance. So why go there? It is closer to the ocean and offers a nicer view of the ocean and coastline to the north. The drive up the narrow windy road is kinda fun. The lighthouse tour guide was great. He had a lot of historical facts about the place (it is more than 150 years old for instance) and he helpfully took our photos at various stages of the tour. Turns out he is pretty handy with a smart phone camera. This tour is not too long, not too expensive and interesting, and it has a restaurant terrace on Friday and Saturday nights and a Sunday brunch.

The restaurant is nicely located, but that is not the subject of the review - you can visit the lighthouse itself, and climb to the top inside, and I think everyone who spends any length of time in Dakar should do that - to see the view, and to see the interesting 150 year old equipment inside the still functioning lighthouse. For most, this will be the only time you ever do that, as lighthouses are no longer a growth business. You pay a small fee - but it is well worth it.

If you go on a friday night, then you will perhaps have the chance to enjoy the cocktails and brochettes in a newly installed bar. Call in advance to reserve a comfortable table overlooking the ocean. It is an amazingly romantic and friendly place to be.

I almost think this is a “must see” for Dakar, but I will never understand why they don’t open before sunset to make it possible to watch the sunset with a drink in hand.

Highly recommend to try tapas and visit the restaurant when they have live music during weekends! Highly recommend going up the light house and see the panorama
