Visited today and underwhelmed. A huge in the style of contemporary Chinese designed building. It feels rather empty and the displays are rather odd and fragmented. No cohesion at all and next to no English signage. It's more like a kind of galerie of sorts...More

the museum is under construction, the main exhibit is closed. but instead of communicating this openly upfront, there is a small "substitute exhibit" of about two dozen animals masks; that's it. none of the items shown here on tripadvisor are exhibited at this moment. in...More

We visited when only the ground floor was open. It is impressive, given the range of masks on display from various parts of Africa. Well organized, but I wish they kept all sections open!

Lots of interesting art in a decent building --- 45 minutes is plenty of time to visit. Some of the pieces are most impressive; others not so much.

The current leadership has transformed this museum into a major site for the newest art by local artists, each well-chosen, and cultural center for lectures, symposia, and discussions about local cultural issues.

Had a great visit here spending quite a few hours savouring both old and new. The main building houses many very old pieces from various west African countries. The building at the rear shows a contemporary exhibition of textiles. Only thing missing is a really...More
