We booked an extension on our Abercrombie and Kent safari to gorilla trek in Rwanda. We were advised that Thousand Hills Expedition would be taking the lead in Rwanda. We couldn't have had a better experience. Lynn, our guide and Clemens, our driver were not only professional and very, very knowledgeable but were also great people. We spend a wonderful five days with them as they guided us through our various activities always taking care of us. The gorilla trekking was an adventure of a lifetime and Rwanda is a wonderful country, Highly recommend doing this incredible adventure.…

May seem like spam that this company has so many different websites and listings in tripadvisor, but I still went ahead and booked a 2-day Gorilla trekking trip with them in Rwanda, and have no regrets! They say their main office is in Uganda, but also do trips in Rwanda, so no problem there. For me it was basically a private tour of the city and a group tour with the Gorillas. When booking, I paid half of the total price in advance and the other half in person (got money from a local ATM). Before flying into Rwamda, I called ahead to make sure they will be waiting for me at the airport (I had trouble in the past with that), and they reassured to me they will be there, and they were! We left around noon from the airport and we did a quick tour of the city. Visited the genocide Memorial and one the buildings where a military massacre happened. Then we headed to the national park (about 1.5 hrs away from the city). We arrived at evening and checked into my hotel (private room, dinner included). Next morning I had breakfast at the hotel (included) and we went to join the group to start the trekking. After it, my driver was waiting for me to take me back to city in order for me to take my flight out of Rwanda. My driver (can't remember the name) was always polite and very attentive. Drove carefully and stopped at certain points (on request) so I could get down and take some pictures. Very trusting company. Recommended!…

Thank you so much to Chris and his team at Gorilla Expeditions for ensuring we had an incredible visit to Rwanda to visit the incredible Mountain Gorilla's in the Rwandan section of the Virunga Forest in Africa. Chris took care of every detail and reassured us when things didn't quite go to plan, whilst working behind the scenes with his very secure network of guides and local experts, to ensure we had the best 2 days of our lives ( almost !!) When we asked for a longer walk or anything extra he delivered and he arranged every detail superbly without any fuss or drama, thanks Chris. Rwanda is an interesting Country to visit and the Gorilla's are a major attraction so its important to be able to trust your guides with the details of your transport, accomodation, local customs and how to ensure we did not offend or cause any trouble for ourselves, we felt completely secure and well advised at all times and Chris added another dimension in sharing what life is really like as a Rwandan citizen. Thanks again Chris, we would happily recommend you and your company to anyone who wants to visit and commune at close quarters with such amazing wildlife, scenery and people. 2 issues however to watch that had nothing to do with Chris. Firstly we were notified 2 days before arrival that the balance of the trip needed to be paid in $US cash which was a challenge to arrange in South Africa. Secondly notwithstanding a long standing booking for 3 nights we were bumped from the Mountain Gorilla Lodge on the first night to a lesser standard hotel. It appears this is not an unusual occurrence but is really bad form Meanwhile we are willing ambassadors of Rwanda and feel very lucky to have met so many incredible people who are doing their bit to ensure future generations will be able to see what we have seen. Warm regards Bruce and Dina…

Both my partner and I have been blown away by two days gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes National Park. It is the wildlife experience of a lifetime. Organised by Active African Vacations and their immensely professional guide Billy. The team from Active African Adventures, we're so well organised, they were always early to pick ups and their expertise meant we could simply concentrate on the incredible experience of the gorillas. Rwanda is now a stable, well organised country with a real sense of national pride. The streets are spotless and the people friendly and helpful. By visiting the gorillas you not only contribute to their ongoing conservation efforts but also help the local rural community. Everyone should consider this trip. Simply incredible…

My favorite thing to do when coming to Rwanda. A surreal experience of seeing wild mountain gorillas in their natural environment. Words cannot describe this adventure. You just have to experience it.
