Took a three day tour to Volcanoes National park to see the Gorillas and the Golden Monkeys. We hiked 45min to find the group and it was unbelievable being in and around their group. My guide Joan was super nice and provided a great local view into Rwandan culture. She had answers to all my questions and was super accommodating for road-side stops to get local food and take pictures. At the end of the tour, my flight was early in the am so instead of waiting at the airport for hours, she dropped me at a nice coffee shop and then came back and took me to the airport. That was much appreciated especially because you cannot get into the airport until check-in opens. I stayed at the 5 Volcanoes hotel and it was quite nice. The room was huge with a patio, a large bathroom and a comfy bed. Compliments to the chef as all the meals were wonderful. The only negative part of the experience was that the passenger window of the Land Cruiser did not go up and down easily and sometimes not at all. It was a bit of a hassle when leaving the car or when it rained. Overall it was a great tour and an amazing experience that I hope to have again one day.

Had a spectacular experience with this company. Did a 9 day tour with nyoungwe, volcanoes national park, lake Kivu, Akagera and more. We didn’t have to worry about anything and we were in great hands. Sam Elliot was the perfect guide, very knowledgable, kind, and accommodating. We are already looking forward to coming back someday and would highly recommend this company.

Serenity Adventure Safari designed our holiday & we enjoyed Gorilla Trek Africa as they organize the Tour Guides. Our trip with them was enjoyable & informative, the love of their country surpasses all understandings. Learnt about livelihood as people live with nature & I loved that gorilla pouchers get arrested as previous hunters were retrained to be trekkers.

This is a post-Covid review for a pre-Covid 7 day Rwanda-Uganda gorilla and chimp tour from Jan 30 - Feb 5th, 2020. I was traveling by myself. . I did very little planning for this spontaneous trip and Nelson did great with the lack of notice that I gave him in setting up my trip. Although it was scheduled to rain for the entire week, I rolled the dice and it worked out well. Elvis Mandela was my guide and he turned into a friend by the end of the 7 days. He is a very good driver and he was very knowledgeable about Rwanda/Uganda. I felt very safe with him the entire trip and I really enjoyed getting to know him!. Sorry for the late review!

Our journey started with prompt and well-explained emails with Nelson. I felt comfortable booking this from the start due to his professionalism. On the morning of the trek, our driver, Julius, arrived early at our hotel. He was not only friendly and professional, but treated us like a family-friend. When he heard that we did not pack "gaiters" (leg coverings, definitely bring these!), he ran into his own home to loan us each a pair. He went truly above and beyond the whole day. When we arrived at the meeting camp, we were placed into a group and oriented with our guide. Our guide was also great; he knew SO much about the gorillas, which he seemed to regard as his friends. He knew all of their individual names and characteristics. He had been working with them for many many years, and we felt very happy that we were going into the jungle with him! After only about an hour of hiking up the beautiful mountain, we were ushered off of the path and onto the brush. Our guide used his machete to hack a walking path up over the brush for us (so cool!). And then, we saw them. A family of gorillas! It was thrilling. But we could not see the silverback, so the trackers went deeper into the brush to find him for us. Once located, we followed to catch a glimpse. He was majestic. There were perhaps 20 gorillas that we saw in total. It was completely amazing, and I can't recommend it more. Of note- We had no trouble hiking or climbing or ducking through the brush, but you want to be in at least moderate shape for this. You do go off the path and really hike through brash brush, but the guides and trackers are very helpful in guiding you.
