It was a unique experience, the environment is spectacular, the trekking can be somehow hard depending on the location of the family that you visit but it was definitely worth it for me. Being able to see these families so close in their natural habitat fascinated me. Highly recommended

We just returned from a 5 day tour of Uganda including the Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. It was absolutely amazing! We rescheduled our trip from July 2020 to Dec 2020 because of COVID. Throughout this preplanning process, I corresponded with Nelson (who is based out of Uganda). He was very responsive and patient with my questions and slew of emails. Nelson paired us with Asaph (our driver and guide) and we could not have been happier. There is a lot of driving involved in the tour, and Asaph really enhanced these moments by spotting a TON of animals and sharing his knowledge of the country and areas. We genuinely consider him our friend now! He also helped us obtain the COVID tests which are a requirement to leave the country. As for the trip itself, it was everything we could have hoped for. We tracked Chimpanzees, took a boat cruise, conducted a game drive, tracked the Silverback Gorillas, and explored one of the neighboring communities. The hotels were each unique and spectacular in their own way, and took care of all of our meals. Throughout the entire trip, we felt safe and well provided for. Uganda has taken extraordinary steps in their COVID measures - and we were constantly sanitizing and getting temp checks at all major attractions and park entrances. Nearly everything in Uganda is cash-only, so don't anticipate being able to use a credit card. There is limited access to ATMs once you leave the major city centers, so get your money situation squared away early. Many of the activities were very personalized so you should be ready to appreciate the guides and staff with a tip. For example, each Gorilla Trek involves 7-8 staff members and you will be happy to be able to tip each for their role in this adventure. It goes without saying to remember your driver in your tip planning as well. I would absolutely recommend Gorilla Trek Africa to anyone (and to ask for Asaph if he is available!). They took care of everything end-to-end on this trip and really helped us have a spectacular and memorable experience.

From the first contact Nelson who is based in Uganda provided helpful advice and clear information about costs as we put together a week of primate trekking in Rwanda. Our driver guide Godwin took great care of the family and managed to get us back onto schedule after we had cleared Covid requirements so we did not miss anything. Gorilla Trek Africa proved to be a reliable choice at a difficult time. Rwanda is not the cheap option but it is a safe country taking sensible Covid precautions and the National Parks are running very professionally guarding the health of the apes.

We came to Rwanda to see the gorillas but aren't typically fond of tours/tour groups and like exploring on our own. Plus, let's be honest, there's a serious sticker shock factor for any Rwandan gorilla tour. Gorilla Trek Rwanda was the most responsive and most willing to give us what we needed without bells and whistles we didn't. As an aside, we were very leery about whether to travel during COVID and felt quite guilty leaving the States for a vacation. However, Rwanda impressed us so much with all of the precautions that are being taken universally, and Gorilla Trek Rwanda echos all of those precautions with their drivers, guides, etc. We felt perfectly safe. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel, we were assured to be in good hands. Our guide walked through the Kigali market with us, a feat that I would not have liked to undertake on our own being so obviously foreigners. Also included in our package was a stop at the Genocide Museum, which was a must do while in Kigali. That was a very well put together self-led tour. We were given as much time as we wanted. My favorite part was the drive to our hotel. Getting out of the city and seeing the Rwandan countryside and villages along the way was fantastic. We opted to stay at the mid-range accommodation, the DaVinci Lodge. Staff was over the top friendly. Food good, more that sufficient. Room was basic but just fine for one night. The hot water bottles they put in bed made the sleep in an otherwise quite cold room just fine. You get what you pay for. We were fine not paying for top of the line accommodations and were satisfied. Of course gorilla trekking was incredible. We were left in such expert and capable hands at Volcanoes National Park for that experience. Would absolutely recommend Gorilla Trek Africa!

It was an amazing experience, just looking at the gorillas in their habitat was incredible and magical. The hotels offered by the tour were good but the 5 volcanoes was great specially because of their service and food; and there are not enough words to thank our guide Sam Elliot, always kind, willing to help and smiley. Highly recommend
