Geoffrey was our guide for the weekend. He picked us up (very promptly) in Kigali and drove us the ~ 5 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. Geoffrey was very knowledgable and shared interesting facts with us during the drive. He was very accommodating and wanting to stop for photo opportunities. He took us seamlessly across the Uganda border and picked out a delicious local place for lunch (the best fish I had on my trip!). The road was bumpy but Geoffrey was always in control and made the ride as comfortable as possible. He was very kind and thoughtful and checked in with us regularly to ask if we needed a bathroom break or to stretch our legs. Upon arrival to our lodge (we chose Bakiga lodge), he made sure we got settled in quickly. He shared with us that he could arrange a cultural tour of the village if we were interested but in no way pressured us to do so. We were interested as we had the whole afternoon free. A lovely young woman who lived in the village brought us on a tour including to the orphanage/school where the most delightful children sang for us and taught us some dances, to meet the Batwa(Pygmie) people who used to live in the forest and learn about their lifestyle, and to the local traditional healer who taught us about herbal medicines used. The cultural tour was all within a short walking distance of our lodge and was so fun and interesting (very much worth the $30/per person). We woke the next morning and again Geoffrey showed up early to pick us up and take us to the orientation site for the Gorilla trekking. The experience was everything we were hoping for and more! We hiked for about an hour until we found the gorilla family we were looking for. There was then off-trail hiking through the jungle with guides clearing bush for us until we finally came upon the family. We saw 7 gorillas total- an elderly silverback and the younger head silverback, several young males, a female, and 2 babies. We saw several of them very close- about 20-30 meters away and got to spend a little over a hour with them. The hiking was quite difficult and you need to be in some physical shape to maneuver the wet hills and slopes on the mountain. Upon completing the tour, we were provided with a certificate for our successful completion of gorilla tracking. Geoffrey again brought us safely home. We had enjoyed his company so much during the weekend we were sad to say goodbye to him. He definitely felt like more a friend joining us on our excursion than a guide that we hired.

On my visit to Uganda during a tourism expo in Jinja, I met the proprietor of Alpha Wild Safaris. A brilliant young man called Victor Basiima got me stunned. He has a vision and a passion for tour and travel.

Saw ten gorillas and really enjoyed the chimp trek. Had a great five nights. We

Geoffrey collected us at the airport in Kigali and we were delighted to meet him! He was very easy to get on with and gave us lots of helpful tips and information during our 5 night stay in Uganda. He is also a very safe driver. The accommodation they booked for us was perfect and we were very impressed. Nothing was too much trouble and we were taken very good care of by Geoffrey. We especially liked Isunga Lodge and Mulehe Gorilla Lodge. All staff were very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. They even cleaned our hiking shoes after our gorilla trek! I wish Alpha Wild Safaris all the best. They look after there clients so well and deserve every success! Thank-you for an unforgettable trip! Laura & David 🇮🇪

Geoffrey was our guide for the weekend. He picked us up (very promptly) in Kigali and drove us the ~ 5 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda on a Saturday morning. Geoffrey was very knowledgable and shared interesting facts with us during the drive. He was very accommodating and wanting to stop for photo opportunities. The road was bumpy but Geoffrey was always in control and made the ride as comfortable as possible - he stated he nicknames the road the "Massage road". Upon arrival to Bakika lodge, he made sure we were comfortable. He shared with us that he could arrange a cultural tour of the village if we were interested but in no way pressured us to do so. We had the afternoon to do a cultural immersion experience which was well worth the $30 per person. We woke the next morning and again Geoffrey showed up early to pick us up and take us to the orientation site for the Gorilla trekking. The experience was everything we were hoping for and more! We hiked for for about 2 hours until we found the gorilla family we were looking for; I would 100% recommend going with a porter for the 20$ fee to help with carry your bags and ensuring you finish the hike (this can be intense for someone who does not exercise regularly). We saw 7 gorillas total- an elderly silverback and the younger head silverback, several young males, a female, and 2 babies. We saw several of them very close- about 20-30 meters away and got to spend a little over a hour with them. Geoffrey was our guide for our 3-day Gorilla Trek departing and returning to Kigali in Rwanda. He spoke great English and importantly for us, he was also a very safe driver and had a bunch of experience and knowledge to share with us everyday. He went over and above with everything to make us comfortable and ensure that our entire Mountain Gorilla Trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda was elite!

We got everything we ever wanted and even more! Including but not limited to very well guided tours around Kigali and various places in Uganda like Lake Bunyonyi. Importantly, Geoffrey made sure that we always got great accommodation, great food and went over and above the call of duty to ensure that we got into the gorilla trekking group that we wanted to make sure that we would meet an amazing family of Mountain Gorillas.

Wherever he went, Geoffrey seemed to be extremely well liked and respected by all people at both the border crossings and by all others working in the tourism and hospitality industry in both Uganda and Rwanda!

You must choose to book with Alpha Wild Safari’s and if you can get Geoffrey to be your guide, you will have the trip of a lifetime like we did! He seems to know everyone in Rwanda and Uganda and can do tailored trips for people departing either Kigali in Rwanda or in Entebbe or Kampala in Uganda. He will even pick you up and drop you off at the airport safely. Just let him know how long you’re going to be in the country for, where you fly in, where you fly out and let him do the rest! You will not be disappointed!

A+ service and A+ value for money, we will be back again and will send all our friends and family your way too!

Thank you from Australia!
