Completed in 2011, this glass tower dominates the skyline of Kigali. The 20-storey building, the tallest in the country stands on the hill where the commercial business district of the city is located. Once it stood alone, but nowadays many highrise buildings have been constructed close it. City Hall, but major banks like the Bank of Kigali, Ecobank, I&M bank now have their prestigious headquarters here.

Rwandan businessman Hatari Sekoko took the initiative. He obtained support of government and eventually a Chinese company was contracted to implement the plan.

Perhaps the reason one side of the tower is covered by commercial advertising is to prevent exposure to the tropical sun. I wondered how the climate inside to tower is regulated ... Of course it could also mean the company in charge of managing office space is desparate to find customers.

Kigali City Tower shows how Rwanda clearly changed after the genocide. But unless you miss the skyscrappers from your own town... it's not worth visiting. Nothing wrong with it. But why go to Rwanda to visit a glass tower?

Other than the movie theater here, I'm not sure why this is such a big deal. Seems like more than 1/2 of the retail spaces were empty. Kind of depressing. But I hear the movie theater is good

Kigali City Tower is just a building. nothing much. At least they could have a restaurant in the top floor in order to attract the tourists.

One of the tallest modern buildings out there. Has an excellent shopping centre. They also accept US Dollars. There is also a food court.
