I don’t even know where to begin…. If I could give 10 out of 5 stars I would. I went on the 9 days Canyons, Dunes & Wildlife tour with Chameleon, and it was the BEST DECISION I could have made for myself. I spent a long time researching different travel companies, but eventually decided on this tour as I felt it covered the most important landmarks in a time efficient and cost effective manner. And wow, I was not disappointed.
I have to start by saying, that I was extremely lucky to meet the absolute best group of people on this trip, that have now become lifelong friends. Michael, Mary, Wilson, Fran, Maria, Ciro & Costi - I will never forget you!
A huge special thank you goes to Tinashe, our guide for the first 3 days. From Windhoek to Etosha to Swakopmund, and the special experience of meeting some members of the Himba tribe, he led the tour with experience, boundless confidence and endless knowledge! He was always happy to answer questions, stopped for plenty of leg stretching/toilet breaks (funnily enough this was much appreciated by the group), and nothing was ever too much trouble. Bonus points for delicious cooked meals at night. Probably the best guide I have ever had. Chameleon is lucky to have him!!

The next half of my trip was with Kennedy & Chilo… this was the camping part of the trip. It provided a completely different experience/perspective of Namibia, as this involved setting up tents (my first time) in the most beautiful areas of the country including the desert. The guys were very patient with me as I was learning to set up and disassemble my tent, and never failed to provide assistance if I needed it. These guys know what they’re doing, from navigating the terrains to keeping us on schedule without too much pressure, and cooking delicious meals.

Overall, if you are even wondering whether you should book this trip or not - stop thinking and just book!!!

3 Day Trips and Class Act Guide

We made three day trips with Chameleon Safaris in Windhoek. Our first was the the Cat feeding and the Game Drive, then we made an early morning hike at Daan Viljoen, and then the Nam Flava township and city tour. On each tour we were blessed to have Raymond as our tour Guide. Raymond was extremely knowledgeable, accommodating and a genuinely wonderful person. He was popular and beloved in every place we went. Chameleon Safaris have many different trips and if everyone is like Raymond then I recommend this business as your first stop to seeing Namibia and all the wonderful things it has to offer. Thank You Raymond and Chameleon Safaris.

What a ride...

6day Sossusvlei, Fish River Canyon & Kolmanskop Camping Tour.
How should I describe something I can´t put into words. An iabsolutely gorgeous tour. What could be more beautiful than camping in the midst of the impressive Namibian landscapes. One of my most favourite travel experience of all times to see the sun rise on top of Dune45, climb Big Daddy to slide down again feeling like gravity took a break and ending the day while watching sun setting above Namib Desert. But what would all this be without the best companions I could imagine.
Shout out to Macedo who helped me organise in advance leaving no question unattended. Very big and special thank you to Kennedy and Rudolf. These guys have been the absolute heart of this tour. They made sure everyone felt comfortable, got help where needed, shared a lot of facts about Namibia, patiently handled 7 crazy ladies, provided the best food and last but not least shared their smiles and laughter with us. Thank you for sharing your time with us. All what´s left to say about this tour: Nothing in the world is so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.

Trip of a lifetime. Brilliant guide and driver.

Absolutely fantastic. My wife and I did the 6 day camping tour from Swakopmund as part of our honeymoon and had the best time. Our guide Taimi was brilliant, she made everyone relaxed and comfortable and went over and above with the cooking. I was expecting very basic food, but every night she produced something incredibly tasty including a fantastic Namibian Christmas dinner. Our driver Rudolf was also great and would go the extra mile to make our tour enjoyable. The campsites we stayed on were comfortable with great facilities. The sites such as Soussesvlei, Fish River Canyon, and Quiver Tree Forest were incredible.

Well-run, fun and exciting

The whole trip was run extremely well. Our guide was Tulimo who was great fun, energetic and had a range of knowledge. The best bit for me was climbing Big Daddy, Big Mama and Dune 45. The accommodation we stayed in was also very nice. The transport was a small bus, be aware it was very noisy and bumpy when on the unmade roads. The only thing that needs changing was that when Tulimo was talking on the microphone either the speakers need more sound or he needs to speak louder into the microphone so we can hear more easily. Coming at this time of year was very hot, coming earlier or much later would maybe be preferable.

October & November are two of Namibia's hottest months; you will have experienced the country at its hottest, it can be a bit exhausting, especially if you are not used to it! We will have a look at the sound system in the bus and see if we can make adjustments to make the guides more audible while travelling - thank you for bringing this to our attention.

A very good tour

My chameleon safari tour was well organized and had a good balance of activities. The budget camping tours are fairly priced and offer good quality camping equipment. Out guide Gregory was friendly and knowledgeable. Over all the tour was a great way to get a quick snapshot of a large and beautiful country.

Chameleon safari helped me organize my time in Namibia, and helped me so much in arranging transport and lodging. I had an ongoing conversation with Berelize who helped me research every possible option for my trip.
They were very patient although I had a lot of requests and very specific dates. Even on a very short notice they made this possible.
I also stayed at Chameleon guesthouse which was very welcoming with a lot of different spaces for the guests to hang out.

Amazing guides for an inspiring tour around Windhoek

Today we had a guided tour around Windhoek by Gideon, Raymond and Petrus. We were 21 students and two teachers and we had such a wonderful experience. They shared so much knowledge about the country and its history and furthermore, they connected so well with the students. We would definitely recommend Chameleon Safaris to other school groups.

I very much enjoyed Petrus and his attention to detail and focus on guests needs and comfort. The tour was quite thorough covering pretty much all there is in town. We went out to Katatura where all in the group would've liked to spend a little more time than we did. I guess that will be saved for another tour.

Vastly overpriced tours
The backpackers hostel is great however the tours are wildly overpriced. I booked a carnivore feeding trip for 1600Rand. The trip lasted just over three hours, two of which were driving to the venue and back, entry to the park is 750Rand so therefore the transport was excessively overpriced. The driver is a member of staff at the hostel so I wonder where all the money goes? I strongly suggest hiring a taxi or car and make your own way there. It's a shame.
