Nice fresh fruit juices, sandwiches and desserts. It is an open air setting. Be aware of the mosquitos. Is a good stop before a cultural evening.

CCFM is a great place to go see live music. They often have live shows on weekday evenings as well as weekends; atmosphere is often very good and events are well attended. The CCFM also houses a French library where you can find a decent selection of French books for children and there are often art exhibits on display in the lobbies.

Right at Maputo's heart, at the "Baixa Quarter", you will find an awesome historical construction. At the very site of the ruins of an old colonial hotel, you will find beautiful and extremely active "CCFM - Centro Cultural Franco-Moçambicano". Since its inauguration, in 1995, the "CCFM" means art and enlightenment, being consecrated to the diffusion of the cultural diversity between France (including all French-speaking countries) and Mozambique. On its premises, you will find a semi-covered theater, an auditorium, open-air stages, exhibition halls, six classrooms, French language classes, a cafeteria and a lovely shop. Check its programme and organize your visit: there is always something interesting going on at "CCFM". Enjoy!

After visiting the Independence Square we passed by the Franco-Mocambican Cultural Center. Looking over the iron fence we saw two sculptures made by assembling pieces of iron. We entered and we were told that all the pieces that made up the sculptures, the largest of which was a horse, came from pieces of weapons or military vehicles destroyed during the war. We could not visit the center because it was closed with the exception of the cafeteria.
