Nice to stroll around in the beautiful gardens. Very interesting to see how they squeezed sugarcanes i the 18:th century. You can have a guided tour for 200 Roupee and it also includes a horseride along the estate. The rum destillery is nowdays only a museum. With a better maintenace the estate would "live up to its glorious days".

There are several restaurants to choose from. We had luch at the Chinese, it was cheep and the food was excellent!

Pfff... We went to Indra, La Canelle and the Dolche Vita.. Nothing interesting. Excetp the beautiful view, which i can actually enjoy from my balcony. We thought that the restaurants would be great considering the deco & place... Its only expensive. Slow service and not well served.

Domaine Les Pailles used to offer a lot more- quad bike expeditions through the hillside for example. It has become run-down and the horses look badly maintained, ill-treated and unhealthy. The restaurant is poor and there is little on offer for tourists.

The area seems to be closed since 2-3 years. Our travel guide still highlighted it as a Must-See at Mauritius but in fact there is nothing to experience. You can walk through the area on your own but all the restaurants had been closed (some of them are under construction) and the former recreational park looks more than a ghost town.
Don't waste your time to get there.
The administration building nevertheless was nice.

We have been told by our local Taxi driver that this has been closed since 3 years!!! Since 2014 ...

Our guidebook from Dumont (2015) didn't tell us.

What a pity!

We used the Domaine Les Paillies as our training venue and its was simply brilliant, from the food to the excellent coffee, nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
The grounds are magnificent, but its probably only a half day visit for the tourist

Attended our friend's wedding and the staff could not have done more to make the occasion perfect!!

Beautiful venue, location and setting - huge tent in the grounds for the service, fantastic band afterwards showcasing local 'zigga' dancing and attentive staff made the whole day one to remember for ever...

We were here just over a week ago having also been here a few times with friends and always enjoyed looking around this well kept and well laid out place. Entry fee is a good deal.

The train, horse and carriage ride are a great hit with both children and adults alike. Nice gardens and the rum distillery is interesting. There are a few restaurants to choose from and all seem good value for money..
