About
The vision behind the construction of the Port Louis Waterfront was to create a space that would offer a diversity of leisure, shopping, eating and entertainment opportunities in a safe and secure environment both for Mauritians and tourists alike. For years the Port Louis Waterfront, with its esplanade of 100 000 square feet, green spaces, children’s playground, food outlets, restaurants, pub, shops, cinema theatres and a splendid view over the port area, was the place to be. The thousands of Mauritians and tourists visiting or transitioning through the Port Louis Waterfront daily rendered the place lively. After two decades, a new master plan has been devised by Landscope (Mauritius) Ltd for the revamping of the Port Louis Waterfront. After the renovation, in addition to inland water feature the Port Louis Waterfront now has the SBM fountain, a gift of the State Bank of Mauritius to celebrate the colours of unity which epitomizes the Mauritian’s harmony as one people and one nation.

Port Louis is the capital of Mauritius.
Accessible by bus from anywhere on the island.
Sitting in a bay surrounded by mountains, Port Louis is a lively and modern city also with charming districts from colonial times.
Island has beautiful beaches and a variety of water activities with great weather all through the year.
There is a Metro service in Port Louis linking 5 major cities, we visited,
Curepipe volcano,
Quatro Bornes Market,
Phoenix mall
Mauritius metro service is operational from 10 January, 2020, from Monday to Sunday, including public holidays.
The line is 26 km long with a total of 19 stations and will connect the five major cities of Mauritius (Curepipe, Vacoas, Rose Hill, Quatre Bornes and the capital city, Port Louis).
We travelled to Quatre Bornes, Quatre Bornes Market is the ideal place for you to experience the live Mauritian culture. It is mostly visited by locals across the island who go for grocery shopping and have souvenirs and gifts.
Further on the metro, we travelled to Phoenix Mall for shops and restaurants.

We went to Port Louis a few times and really enjoyed the Waterfront. The shops and restaurants were great and the craft market was really good to see. There were also some really good restaurants in the area which were very reasonably priced. We visited the old market and were disappointed with it.

Just some food outlets nothing more, I just wonder if the owner knows what a waterfront. Go to Capetown or Singapore.

The shopping centre is nothing special. However, if you do go make sure you find the woodcarver. He’s great and to be honest the only genuine Mauritian arts & crafts we’ve found.

Had a beautiful holiday on the wonderful island of Mauritius. Lovely people ...gorgeous food .
However was very shocked to hear about the venomous Red Cone shell ( Conus baleatus) there is no know antidote for this poisonous shell & can cause death within 15 minutes in humans if touched & stung .
There are no beach signs or any warnings about this deadly cone Shell in the Indian Ocean. I feel tourists should be warned whilst snorkeling / scuba diving swimming etc.
Mauritius is a wonderful place in the world which unfortunately has one of the most deadliest Shells in the world .please wear sea shoes & be careful whilst swimming & touching anything in the sea .

We found the waterfront quite underwhelming. It had some nice shops but limited restaurants and bars. Fine for a quick stop at lunch but not really somewhere for dinner
