It is very busy, crowded and loud. The beaches are not nicer than in the main island. Nothing special.

We visited this island in June (twice) and it seemed to be the perfect moment: good weather and no crowds. We also chose not to visit it as a part of the tour, but drove to Trou d'eau Douce and took one of the regular...More

We went there may 2017. private shuttle boat out to the island. The beaches are not as nice as on the mainland a bit more stony. The food was really nice with. Worth a trip to stay for a day on the beach

We were worried about the crowds, but in November it was not crowded at all. Beautiful place. Water is very warm. We took a snorkeling trip. They said it was for an hour, but we were in the water for 20 minutes only. Boat trip...More

Couple of questions , can you help me out? (8 Replies)
Hi My wife and I are travelling to Belle Mare in May staying at Émeraude Beach Attitude. I know there is not a huge amount near where we are staying but was wondering about the following Where would you recommend to see some of the islands natural beauty? - other than the beach we'll be on . we have a day trip to Ile Aux Cerfs included but thought we might spend another day exploring and is it easy to hire a car for the day from my location or are taxis that way to go ? ...More

Best spot for snorkeling is at Blue Bay Marine Park which is close to the airport. May be worth your while to hire a car for the day to do some snorkeling there then carry on to the south of the island to see some of the sights like Chamarel waterfall, Black River Gorges National Park, Trou aux Cerf (extinct volcano) with stunning views across the island and Grand Bassin Sacred Lake.

Four Seasons or St Regis for end of March (2 Replies)
Hi all, Planning to travel to Mauritius with my wife and my 3 years old son the last week of March (until 2nd April). I currently hesitate between Four Seasons in Beau Champ (near l’Ile aux Cerfs) and St regis in Le Morne. The choice of these two hotels is they have good facilities for kids and adults and we have never been disappointed by these brands. Open for other resorts in case there is something outstanding. My question is which one do you recommend due to the season (end of...More

March/April is still summer and therefore location is not an issue. I think the St Regis is not quiet up to the standards of the brand in other places. It used to be a brand that would be familiar to you, Berjaya before St Regis bought it and refurbished it. However you have Lux Le Morne and Dinarobin in the vicinity which might suit you more. If you are travelling with children, I would opt to be out at the west of the island in Sugar Beach or Hilton. The Four Seasons is a nice big...More

Ile aux Cerfs or Iles des deux Cocos? (2 Replies)
Hi; we're staying at the shandrani hotel in december and I'm thinking about boat trips but although I've read about these islands in tripadvisor I can't work out if I would want to visit them.. they seem to mainly appeal to food/drink/relaxing on a beach...and although I have no problem with this... I can get that at my resort. I'm clearly missing something, can anyone help? p.s. the only sea-related activity I'm interested in is snorkelling.

Funny you should ask as I asked exactly the same question myself last December. I emailed Iles des deux cocos before we left and I really quite liked the sound of what was on offer and we had planned on doing it! however .... One day we drove to blue bay. It was a weekend and on top of that there was some event on and the place was crowded beyond belief, so when a vendor approached us and offered us a trip on a boat to a quiet island we quickly accepted, It was as we were arriving on...More
