Paul took me and 3 others around Malawi for a week and he really knows his country well. He was able to show us things that you can't even find on a map. We had decent accommodations for our budgets, food was always excellent, and each day was an adventure. We were treated like locals rather than tourists. I highly recommend See Malawi Travel if visiting Malawi.

I joined a customised 3-day private tour to Lilongwe & Lake Malawi as a ‘long weekend escape’ from South Africa/Mozambique. It’s a very short tour to get a general picture of the beautiful country yet a very fruitful one. To me, the visits to the local market in Lilongwe and the village by the lake, encountered with cultural shock at first though, were so lively and impressive. Local life in Malawi was certainly an eye opener to me - hustle and bustle yet quite orderly. The cruise on the lake feeding sea eagles, fish and baboon was also relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks for the professionalism and good arrangements, especially to Paul (who responded to my queries promptly), Geoff (who was detailed and caring) and various local guides particularly Blessings. Driver was also friendly, hardworking and professional, ensuring a very safe journey. Through this tour, I truly experience the friendliness of the Malawi people. In fact, in many other nations of the continent, apparently as a foreigner, I experienced quite a lot of hassles. However, I encountered no issues at all in Malawi. People are really warm and not pressing. That’s why Malawi is a safe country worthy for visits!

There was a lot of driving, but I would recommend the off the Off the Beaten Track tour of Malawi. We ended up at an eco Lodge, The Mushroom Farm, that is involved with the local village near Livingstonia. In the village, there are various workshops, producing jewelry, wood crafts, and a sewing co-op for the village women. The lodge staff was welcoming and the setting on the side of a hill was dramatic and spectacular. We went from there to Lake Malawi to see the fish eagles do their thing, and experience lakeside life. I wish that we had had more time to spend there, but it was nice while it lasted. Or guide, Blessings, was fun and knowledgeable. We enjoyed him and he kept us entertained on the long drives. I would highly recommend this tour.

I chose See Malawi Travel because I appreciated that the company allowed you to play a role in creating the itinerary. I contacted Paul & he worked with me to create a 13-day trip that encompassed all the highlights I wanted to see. I was exceptionally pleased with my choice as Paul was knowledgeable, flexible, professional and very experienced. He has built a fantastic company. I visited Majete & Liwonde parks for Safari, Mulanje and Zomba for hiking, and Cape Maclear for some time at the lake. The accommodations were excellent and Paul worked with my budget - I even got to sleep in a treehouse at Majete! Paul knew enough about each place to show me the aspects that made it unique, from a set of natural rock formations to local artisans who work to improve their areas. Overall, I can highly recommend See Malawi Travel for solo travellers, however I imagine that the company would cater well to groups of all types.

Paul took us to see Cape Maclear at Lake Malawi for a day trip from Lilongwe. It was a beautiful place. We looked round the village to get a sense of local life, had a very nice lunch by the shore, went to see the colourful fish and trekked up one of the hills for great views over the lake. Paul looked after us very well, and we were joined by a guide from the community who shared local knowledge and helped show us around. We saw fish, deer, baboons and birds around the lake. It was quite a lot of driving for one day but the driving was very good with some great scenery and it was well worth it overall. I would recommend staying overnight at Cape Maclear if you have time, to get the most out of the visit.
