We have just completed a 21 day driving tour of central Madagascar. As two young females, one of our main concerns was personal safety. Though, in the company of our WONDERFUL driver, Fidy, we had no worries. Fidy was kind, respectable, informative, safe and always available to help. He was so much more than just a good driver and we will forever be grateful that we were able to spend those 3 weeks with him. Madagascar is a diverse country with much to see. I'll be honest that we booked our tour kind of late in the game and did not spend much time researching ourselves what we may be interested in seeing and therefore, the whole trip was planned by GMT+3 with next to no input from us. Although this was extremely easy and convenient, in hindsight, we had wished that we spent more time researching and therefore could have been a bit more specific on the things we wanted to see and do. Of course this is no fault of the companies and merely a suggestion that if you are considering booking a tour, take time to do your research, be specific in what you want to see/do and they will plan accordingly. All in all, we were impressed with the professionalism of everyone in the company. Even when we had to abruptly cancel our overnight river trip due to a sickness, we were met with kindness and attentiveness from all staff involved. It was a 3 weeks and I can highly recommend GMT+3, especially Fidy as a driver.

I booked a car with driver for 5 days 2 weeks in advance and from the very first moment the two parties arranged the trip very fast. My driver Fidy not only drove me to Ranomafana, Antsirabe and Andasibe during these days from Tana, but also made an exceptional effort to help in booking hotels day after day, and introduced me to the Malagasy culture perfectly at all times - food, customs, art, fauna and flora.
GMT+3 was very flexible at all moments, since once I arrived in Tana I extended the service for one day more and we modified the route without a problem. Also, we had an engine problem with the car and they rapidly responded by sending another car with a driver to continue the route.
Very postive experience overall, I can't wait to come back again and book another trip with them.
Finally, the service is exceptionally affordable for groups of 2 of 3 people.
Thank you Anja, Fidy and Hari for the help!

The driver Serge was great and very helpful. We spoke in both English and French along the way. I was alone for the trip so it was nice to have some conversation during the drive as well as feeling safe the entire time as a solo female. Anje was super helpful in answering all my questions in advance of the trip. I stayed at Vakona Lodge and really enjoyed the dinner there, it was fantastic. It was only a two day excursion to Andasibe but I was able to visit 5 different places for wildlife. The Peyreiras Reserve was fantastic and I was able to see a lot of lemur up close. the Vakona Lemurs island was a little disappointing and nothing like i had read about, I would skip that if I were to go back. The crocodile area was interesting. The night walk was ok but again I probably would not do that part again. The hike with a guide the following day in the Analamazotra National Park was fantastic. I chose the middle amount of time offered (2-3 hour hike) and he was able to locate Indiris which was fantastic. Really worthwhile. Lunch on the way back to Tana was also good. Overall a nice weekend away from working in Tana and very enjoyable thanks GMT+3!

We were in Madagascar for 12days with GMT3+.We traveled with our 5 year old daughter and enjoyed our trip to the west. Anja helped with planning giving good suggestions and sound advice promptly. When we arrived, facilitating was smooth this allowed us to focus on our sightseeing and Martin our guide did all the french and malagasy speaking this was incredibly helpful. In addition to keeping our energy pumped daughter on her toes…😂.The west is beautiful and was fairly warm in July during our visit. The Tsiribihina river trip was relaxing, the Tsingy took our breath away, morondava energized us and Tana was a delightful historical treat. We had a wonderful time in Madagascar thanks to GMT 3+ I would highly recommend having them to navigate this vast country.they are an efficient travel partner in Madagascar they are local and passionate about the country.

Madagascar is an enormous country with a lot of interesting attractions to see. Despite the roads being bad and being very time-consuming to travel a few kilometers, traveling by car with a tour guide and driver is still the best option to explore the country.
After searching and contacting a few local tour agencies in Madagascar, we chose to make our 10-day tour (in August 2023) with the Great Madagascar Tours. The price was good and we were given constant attention to our emails, requests (such as hotels we would prefer to stay at, etc...) and suggestions from their side as well.
The tour was great, the people were very nice and assertive, our tour guides (Benji and Fernand) spoke good English, they were always very punctual and helpful. We had a problem with our car one evening which was rapidly addressed and solved by the morning the next day. Everything went according to the plan in the end we had agreed beforehand and we had a memorable time there.
We recommend the Great Madagascar Tours as a local agency to plan your next trip to Madagascar!

We relied on GMT +3 to organize our first trip to Madagascar. From the very first contact Anja was able to advise us with extreme professionalism, precision and competence on the most interesting stops, facilities and means of travel best suited to the spirit of travel we had in mind. I want to preface this by saying that we did not know the agency and relied on reading some reviews on the internet and recommendations from friends. On another positive note, after booking there were minor problems with one of the flights and Anja was courteous and diligent in offering us a solution. Our vacation was professionally organized and managed making us feel safe and secure. Reliability, courtesy, helpfulness the strong points. We absolutely recommend the agency!

If you are reading this review you have already decided Madagascar would be a great destination to visit (it absolutely is), but might be struggling with the complexity of planning such a trip. We originally scheduled our 11-day trip in 2020 but covid shut everything down and we had to reschedule twice. Throughout the pandemic Anja was always quick to reply and easy to deal with in rearranging the trip details. I was traveling with my wife, two teenagers and seventy year old mother, so needless to say I was nervous. Things in Madagascar are simply not going to go according to plans at times and our guide, Carl, was ready for everything. It was like having a family member in Madagascar taking you around. He seemed to know everybody! I never once felt unsafe or that my family was at risk during the entire adventure. He was prepared at every check-point and at every check-in and things could not have gone more smoothly. Once we (finally!!) got on the ground the trip was amazing and the experiences will be ones we cherish for a lifetime.

I just want to thank GMT+3 and Anja himself for organazing such an amazing trip for me and my family of three. Although we had some issues and difficult moments, overall experience was perfect and I must admit that he did everything he could to make our journey amazing. As a traveler who has traveled as much as 66 countries of the world and visited all 6 continents (and most of them I visited them without tourist agency), I know how difficult it is to deal with unexpected problems like delayed, overbooked or cancelled flights, overbooked hotels, etc. It is important for me to say that I admire his effort to make everything perfect, although some things went wrong.
I know that postponded flight to Morondava and rearrangement of our trip in just two days was very challenging and could have been a huge problem, but he managed it perfectly. I am just sorry that we couldn't visit Kirindy (and see fossa), but visiting Andasibe and Tsingy was something I dreamed about last two years and he made it happend and I am so grateful for that.
There are two persons I just have to talk about. Our driver Harry, who took us to Andasibe and also drove us all way long from Morondava to Tana, is such a nice, patient and great person, who took care of everything and really put an amazing effort to make our long trip perfect. He fullfilled all our needs and we are very greatful for having him with us.
The other one is guy named Achille, our guide to Tsingy and who followed us back from Bekopaka to Morondava, too. There are no words I could tell how great and amasing Achille was. He is a real pearl, well educated guy with whole spectar of interest and great knowledge. He took care of everything, explained us all abou this beautiful country, climbed with us, took photo of us, carried our bags and mobile phones when needed. He was, definitively, the highlight of our tour.
Once again, thanks GMT+3 and Anja for everything, the overall experience was great and unforgettable. I would definitively do that trip again and recomend GMT+3 to anybody.

The organization of the trip was not at fault. Challenging transfers across the entire island always turned out to our full satisfaction. The communication and organizational skills of our local guide Anja ensured an unforgettable holiday.

We were 3 friends exploring madagascar just based on little internet searches and booking hotels to stay at as the days went by. We hired the services of GMT 3 and we have to say they exceeded our expectations! Our driver Fidi was very experienced and was happy to explain the history of the places we visited. He also advised us on good restaurants and hotels. He was more than a driver, he was an excellent guide.

Hello, I'm a girl. I travel all alone, I would like to go on a tour of Madagascar. Visit the most important island of lemurs, and the protected areas where they live. I want to visit a place where baobabs grow, climb along Tsingi and villages with local people. I love to visit colorful places. I will not be able to find the second fellow traveler, since there are few people wishing to do this. I would like to go in early August. Ideally, travel around Madagascar 7-9 days. What program and price is possible for me? I'm going to fly to Madagascar in early August. To me the main thing is that they would take me everywhere, and the language does not matter, since I know English badly, but nevertheless I travel without it without problems. So the guide is optional. After all, the driver can take me everywhere and drive without a guide? I want a program that would be to see and communicate personally as possible with a large number of animals. I want to closely communicate with lemurs, go to Mondorava to baobabs and climb along the rocks of Tsingi. I'm not interested in museums and factories. Only nature and animals are interested. I want to see everything only the most interesting. Interesting colorful tribes. What route is possible by my request from 7 to 10 days? And what will be the price if I take only the driver?

i was just there in Aug. i think if you go to the Baobabs you will have no time for anything else. but i did not go to see the Baobabs as its a long way to see deforestation effects. I preferred the jungles and lemurs. I used GMT+3 to plan my visit, although i knew where i wanted to go. We were there a week but you can easily do in 2 preferably 3 days to go to Andasibe park and the towns and countryside on the way. highly recommend a visit to Lemur island. while somewhat artificial, you get to see a lot of lemurs.

Hello, Not much time as it is a vast country. I would spend all 4 days in one area. You have to take a domestic flight from Tana to the South to see the Baobabs (as you won't have the time to drive). I suggest you instead visit a closer locale to Tana so that you don't spend the entire time flying and driving. Perhaps Île Sainte-Marie or a closer National Park to the east of Tana. I was there for 3 weeks and limited myself to 2 or 3 areas.

Hello. I am arriving in Madagascar with my bother on 29April to 15May in Antananarivo. We are overwelmed with the size and options in Madagascar and we do not know where to even start or where to stay when we arrive. We are young budget travelers looking to stay in small and safe hotels or hostels but we would definitely like to see the highlights and make the most of what Madagascar has to offer in just a short two weeks. Can you recommend a place to stay/start and a tour package that will include some highlights such as the Baobabs, limestone forest, nature lemur parks/forests ,cultural interests etc. also some advice of where to exchange money from the airport ( are seychelles Rupees accepted?) Thank you so much for any assistance or information you may have to share.

Salama from GMT+3,
Thank you for your interest of our company and your request.
Regarding your request, we are pleased to assist you to organize your best trip in Madagascar including your highlights. We are going to work on it and revert back to you by tomorrow with suggestions then you can choose between.
The local currency is Ariary (MGA). Credit cards are still not used widely in Madagascar. However, they are accepted in big cities, international hotels and in the banks of all cities. You will find ATMs in most main cities, where you can withdraw Ariary. VISA and MASTERCARD are most commonly accepted cards. It is also useful to bring some Travelers Cheques or cash in Euros or US dollars. AMERICAN EXPRESS is seldom accepted outside of Antananarivo. Please note that $100 date 1996 bills are not accepted (better from 2006 dated). You can exchange your money at Antananarivo international airport, there are some exchange offices that have the best exchange rate in Antananarivo and Madagascar. When you leave the big city, please note that the exchange rate is low
For further services or questions, I remain at your disposal and talk to you soon
Best regards,
anja
