Deeply touching Year of Return experience with a wonderful guide! Rashida went far above and beyond to coordinate these custom solo experiences for me. She provided good information and was patient as I moved slowly through each experience, giving me time to soak it all in. She did give a great suggestion though... learn all that you can about each place then take time to process later, once you slow down at night or go back to your hotel. I had originally planned to also visit Elmina Castle but become overwhelmed after the Cape Coast Castle and decided not to continue to Elmina.

Only 1 negative - I felt that the drive drove too fast. But as soon as I mentioned it to Rashida she had no problem asking him to slow down and all went well from there.

I highly recommend Pro Tour Africa and will definitely reach out to Rashida again when I return to Ghana.

The journey to Cape Coast was about 3 hours. We started with the canopy walkway then to the castles. Kakum had so many natural plants and we were told what some the health benefits of the plants. The canopy walkway is thrilling and is definitely one of the must do things in Ghana. The castles have so much history and an eye opener of what our ancestors went through. We then had dinner after the tour and headed back to Accra. Rashida who was my tour guide did a great job telling my all about Ghana and its culture. I did have a good time and definitely found a friend in Rashida.

This tour was high on my list of things to do while in Ghana. My tour guide was young, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. She was amazing. The journey began early as we tried to avoid traffic but we were slowed down twenty minutes in. However, my guide was easy to chat with as we learned a lot about each other’s cultures.
Our first stop was the Kakum National Park, wear sensible shoes as it’s a good ten to fifteen minutes hike up to the canopy bridges. While on the bridges don’t rush or you’ll forget to take pictures and admire the landscape. We then drove to visit both Elmina and Cape Coast Castles. However, after you’ve heard the atrocities of how Europeans treated other human beings at Elmina I wasn’t up for it a second round of trauma so we drove past so I could see the rock of evil.
We dined with locals on Red-red with plantains that was delicious as the young and old enjoyed the sounds of the ocean.
The journey back was equally long but reflective.
I highly recommend booking your Cape Coast tour with Zainab Protours it was like being with a knowledgeable friend who didn’t annoy you.

I write this with a heavy heart. In April 2021 we booked a 4-day tour with added an extra day through TourRadar for December 2021. Over the months and days leading up to the tour, I spoke with Rashida through WhatsApp concerning the tour. The day before I arrived we spoke concerning airport pickup. On the arrival day, she picked up my group (2 adults and a teenager) and took us to our hotel in Accra as planned. After check-in in Accra, we were informed that the overnight portion of our tour to take place the next day had to be instead a day trip because she was unable to secure our hotel accommodations in Cape Coast. This was something that was not discussed with us prior to or agreed upon. We are now in a foreign country and it's presented to us like "this is what we are going to do like it or not". In essence, the dynamics of the entire tour changed at that moment.

We were told the road to the Volta region was "bumpy", no it was a bump, swerve to avoid a hole, sinkhole, pothole, no road, and off-road for more than 12 hours to and from. This caused members of the group to get car sick to the point of vomiting and required us to pull to the side of the highway. The hotel we finally checked into had no Wifi and every food option we requested on the menu they were out of, we didn't eat that night thank God we had our own snacks. Not to mention we were stopped frequently and physically searched by the police.

We did not see the WEB Dubois Center because it was closed on the day of the revised schedule. We did not see all the planned locations in Cape Coast (Assin Manso Slave Market and River) because instead of a 2-day adventure was changed into a day trip and we were being hurried through the to make sure the other attractions didn't close. We were actually told we were low on time because we requested the driver stop at a store so we could get snacks along the road. The day trip turned into 11 hours of driving on the road, 3 hours of actual site seeing. Not to mention the frequent police checks and speed bumps along the road.

We are avid travelers, we understand minor changes in itinerary but this was far more than that. Although Rashida and Zay were apologetic, there was an undertone that we should be grateful and why are we complaining. We discussed our pleasure, displeasure and recommendations on the day of our departure.

The visit to Cape Coast was an emotional one for me. The history of the Cape coast castle and the Elmina Castle on slave trade is something that affects something deep within you. So much evil perpetrated against humanity during that period and within those walls is something that must never repeat itself. This is a trip everyone who has the opportunity should embark on. We also went to Kakum national park and walked on the canopy walkway. It was a thrilling experience even though I tried not to look down from it. It was a long day but definitely worth it. Thank you Pro Tour Africa for arranging this tour on a short notice.

Beware of protour Africa group, they gave us a bad experience, then blocked us from reviewing the tour, what a shameful act.

Very professional tour guide. Overall a great experience.

The car provided for the trip could be an SUV which is more suitable for a 3 hours road trip from Accra, and back.
