Osu is great. Good places to eat/drink. the best part is meeting the kids and hearing peoples stories on the street. We let off some fireworks aswell that was fun. Keep your phone and money hidden.

the area is a concentration of bars, pubs and restaurants, with lots of street traders, hustlers, etc thrown in for colour :-) It is always bustling with life, and can be fun to explore

This is a very touristy area, so why on earth doesn't the Accra Metropolitan Area spend a little money to clean up and mend the gutters and restore the sidewalks?

My taxi driver was telling me that Osu is one of the few places in Accra that provides a genuine view of Accra, and local life. The area does provide some insight into life in Accra. Worth checking out.

Osu is a real tourist nest: with it's art shops, hotels, amazing restaurant next to each other, a great mall and a myriad of shops where you get mostly everything. Don't come to Accra without passing through Osu. But brace up for quite some traffic...More

When you get to lighthouse point in fishermen village (James Town) your guide will tell you that a local guide is necessary. This is normal and you go through the middle of fishermen village to visit a local school, the beach.... What is not normal...More

Make sure you go further afield than just Oxford St-the whole suburb has interesting little shops and businesses tucked away if you go exploring. Plenty of food stalls, restaurants, clothes and many, many people hawking such things as sunglasses, belts and watches on the streets.

You can get your shopping done in OSU but the street vendors will hound you incessantly. Be prepared to walk away to get a good deal.
