I love bookshops. Wherever I find myself worldwide I look for bookshops. But Vidya Bookstore is my home bookshop. It has everything I need: new thrillers, new drama, Ghanaian authors, African authors, Tintin, Asterix! And best of all, a very knowledgeable staff. The owner is the best owner ever. As the sort of person who goes into a panic if they don't have a book to travel with, I was getting desperate last weekend for something to read. I saw this shop online and spent much of a sunny Saturday afternoon in Osu trying to find it! It was worth the effort, though, and my fiction addiction was satisfied for the coming week or two of travel. The paperbacks were very reasonably priced, and the assortment of titles was okay. Lots of kids' books, too, which I wasn't looking for. Very pleasant staff, and the A/C was most welcome after my hour-long street search. Hint, though: It's not on 18th Lane, or anything that looks like 18th Lane. The shop staff swore to me that it is, and the online map says it is, but the street sign I saw is something like Naa Amponsah (probably wrong, but closer than 18th Lane! Or maybe it means 18th Lane in Twi?) It's off Oxford St on the left from Danqua Circle, just before you get to the Shop Rite building (on the right) I'll definitely be back, now that I can find it. . . .…
