The woodwork of this church is a must for tourist. It is not at all a tourist trap. The surroundings are however not impressive.

Beautiful work of art, the whole building reflects african art and traditions at its best. The wood columns around the church contain scenes from christian gospels. We got to see a mass celebration and is a must see if possible (please do it respectfully!) they mix african rythms and musical instruments with christian gospel songs, truly amazing.
The neighborhood around the church is not the best one so arrive by taxi or if walking keep an eye on your belongings.

Very impressive church wide open in the back. The columns in the front entrance are entirely sculpted with life being scenarios.
It's higher ceiling make it well ventilated.
What is uncommon is the sort of amphitheater at the back to allow people follow the prayers without being into the church.
To visit absolutely!!

I wasn't terribly impressed by the church; nevertheless, I think that it's amazing that it was created by a blind man. It's a good example of African syncretism.

St. Michel is a fascinating church, with mosaics in front and amazing carved columns that illustrate Bible stories, and I'm told, local legends as well. It's a huge space, open to the air, of course, and manages to capture the local artistic style beautifully. Worth a visit and of course, it's free!

worth seeing traditional painting and carvings on the church.
except now a man with mental health issues is always at the church - he is quite aggressive. he doesn't like white people
esp french. so do not go alone.

The design is very simple. However, every inch of the church is extremely detailed. I personally enjoyed the visit.

Very unique wood work.
Each column tells/explains bible verse. There is one for creation, Adam and Eve, Tower of Babel, and etc.
Very interesting to check out each carving.

Reputation as a must visit attraction in Libreville is well deserved. Excellent woodwork in the church, lots of details of the observant traveller, stories, people and myths from the christian mythology come alive in this church.
