My wife and I came back recently from our trip to Ethiopia, where we had the opportunity to go from Timeless Ethiopia to the Omo Valley, Siemen and Harar. If you plan to book a guided tour to Ethiopia, I highly recommend Timeless Ethiopia! Habtamu Mamo, the owner of TE is also the owner of the Heyday hotel in Addis Ababa. Therefore, it is not a company whose only potential is a website and a mobile phone. And there are unfortunately many such in Ethiopia.

When in February 23 we were traveling around Ethiopia in off-road vehicles with a "birdwatching" photographic expedition, we decided to return immediately after the rains of the wet season stopped for trekking in the Semien Mountains. Habtamu, the Boss of the TImelless office, was the only person in Ethiopia we could trust. He organized both expeditions very thoroughly. Despite the current political situation in Ethiopia, we felt safe. In the mountains, apart from our six-person group, we met practically no other tourists. The trekking service was fantastic although the conditions were difficult. Before leaving, we agreed with Habtamu on the route to follow. On site, using the knowledge of Mitek's experienced guide and due to the existing local conditions, we made several corrections. For example, we learned that there is now a military base on Ras Dashen just before reaching the peak. The guide advised us against going from Ambiko to Ras Dashen and descending to Menta Ber as it was impossible to do in one day, for which we thank him. So we returned to Ambiko and the next day we hiked to Sona, passing the very populous village of Arquaziye. The route then led as previously planned, to Makarebya, Mulit and Adi Arkay, from where we returned by bus, covering the difficult mountain road to Debark in a few hours. The weather conditions were different, from cold to hot, from beautiful sunny mornings to afternoon fog, sometimes rain and once even a storm with hail. The cook is a real master of cooking in difficult conditions, i.e. on one burner in a corner of a cottage. The scouts escorting us slept outdoors, looked after us and our belongings, helped us through more difficult passages and were very nice. After two nights, at the suggestion of our guide who advised us to take an extra mule, we took three. So we carried practically nothing, which is important when trekking at high altitudes. We could also try mule riding, which at times made us even more excited. Both the Highland and Lowland are beautiful and worth the walk!
