A very interesting experience. Surrounded by the sprawling metropolis of Addis Ababa, this golf club is located next to the Ministry of Defense. Seeing rocket launchers next to the green is unusual and kind of cool as I don't think this experience can be found anywhere else. The greens were a little soft and one had to be cautious of roaming military personnel and cows. 18 holes of quietness and hardly anyone to fight off the tee's as the numbers of golfers are low. For only having one golf course in the country for 130 million people is quite amazing. Soon to have a "Tournament of Hope", this will be an exciting event for the country as many foreign guests will show up.

The Addis Ababa Golf Club restaurant offers quiet, calm and clean space for lunch, viewing towards the golf course, which gives this place a rare open space witht lots of green in sight. A true chance for most part of the town. The menu looks good and the quality of the food also very nice. I had grilled Nile perch with some veggies and fries and it was really good, tasty and notably - a properly small portion for lunch. The service was good by a waitress who spoke really good English. Will definitely go again when I have a chance!

If you have an Ethiopia Residence I.D. but your skin is white, the price is a little more than triple than the regular price for greens fees. Maybe the food and drinks are the same price, but I didn't ask about that.

Be prepared to pay 40% more than an Ethiopian national if you don't have an Ethiopian passport. Illegal in any other country in the world ! I didn't play on principle.

This was the best part of my visit to places. Great golf course and accessibility to wi-fi made my first day in Ethiopia a great joy. Sweet tasty lemon tea served with other bitings.

What a great way to spend a day in Addis. Out of the heat and busyness of the city. This is the one golf course in Ethiopia and depending on the season conditions are relatively good. I would not recommend trying to golf during the rainy season as it will be too wet, the front nine will likely be closed, and the greens too soft. So avoid mid July to mid September, but other than that it will be lots of fun.
Be prepared to see some unusual guests like oxen and sheep grazing on the fairways, as well as some military personnel crossing from the, and the missile rocket launchers next to the green on hole 3 are classic. Also playing at 8,000 feet altitude is a real treat as you get to bomb the drives a long way. Very nice lounge and restaurant facilities.

Hi, I will travel to Addis in September. What can I expect from the golf course? Is it now 18 holes? do you have club rentals? How much can I expect to spend if not a Ethiopian National? How much for a Ethiopian national?

My wife who is an Ethiopian national just paid (Birr) in July
570 green fees - 18 holes
400 - caddy
370 - club hire
Not sure of exact green fees / membership for internationals (add about 40%). I refuse to pay the international surcharge. Imagine if we added a surcharge for Ethiopians playing golf in the USA /UK/ or Oz - the golf club would be sued.
