This site is located at the eastern part of Ethiopia if you have a travel plan to visit Awash National park it should have to be your destination, this wonderful site is very important to know Ethiopia is the land of the discovery of ancient civilization there is also a small museum.

It is a Unesco site but too rarely visited. There is a museum or exhibit building in imitation of local constructions. It is a serious display which imparts info only by reading. It has 3 halls, geological, anthropological and archaeological.
A path without steps takes the visitor down to the protected archaeological site where one can see the strata representing the various flood and deposits which on erosion had caused the artefacts to be discovered. There are no buildings as it was a Hunter Gatherer location but the butchery was discovered confirming that it was Hippo that was the attraction to this spot as well as wild pig, deer, etc.Obsidian was plentiful in the area and most tools were made using this material. Some of the tools are displayed in the museum but most objects are elsewhere.
It is a remote site requiring navigation of Ethiopia's adventurous roads but well worth the effort. There are other attractions on the way down into the Rift Valley that can be added to make for an interesting journey.
