One of Asmara’s finest architectural buildings from the 1930’s, sitting over a large area, with exquisite frescoes and prominent tower that can be seen from any part of the city. It is one of the capital city’s outstanding landmarks. Up on entering its inside chamber, one is reminded of the many eminent cathedrals in Rome and other parts of Italy. It is no wonder that Asmara is sometimes aptly dubbed as ‘Little Rome’.

Ask to be taken up to the tower, gret views of Asmara from there. Small payment is required.

A delightful piece of early 20th century Italian colonial architecture with the high roof and simple, classical interior. A peaceful, spiritual oasis in the heart of the pulsing with humanity Harnet Avenue. The landmark campanile behind is very impressive too.

Eritrea is not a nice place to be in present times. People are loving and beautiful but environment due to extra cautious government officials create a bade taste. In this setting beautiful cathedral building stands like a majestic tower. Its feeling is unique. If you stand on th eopposite side of the road its grandeaur is supreme.Miss you Asmara.

This Cathedral is very old and was built by the Italians when Eritrea was a colony. The exterior and interior are both very beautiful. I used to go to church here often and the priests are very friendly and kind people. My parents ate dinner with the priests. It's been over 7 years since I've last been there but if you're in Asmara this is a must see.

perhaps the most recognizable structure in Asmara...more impressive outside than in. On the day i was there they had no admission fee (it was a Sunday)

One of the many art deco, Cathedral of Asmara is very nice from outside and inside. I am not an architect but the details inside the prayer of the cathedral are amazing. And if you will rest on the many stairs of the cathedral (facing the Harnet Ave) and enjoy the vibe and peace of Asmara.

I'm not Catholic but I always stop to sit and say a little prayer in Cathedrale. It's always open when I visit Asmara and worshippers stay for hours or pop in for a quick prayer. Definitely worth a detour.
