I had the pleasure of going on a three-day hiking adventure with Rushing Water Adventures over the New Years holiday, including the Abourma petroglyphs, Foret du Day, Bankouale, and Dogum. The company's owner was very communicative in working with me to set up a personalized itinerary based on my interests and timeline. Also the guides and driver were very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, as were the hosts at the Foret du Day and Bankouale camps where we spent one night each. The hiking was spectacular, with an amazing variety of scenery from petroglyphs and mountains to traditional Afar villages, riverbeds, mango groves, and many other fascinating landscapes and plants. I highly recommend Rushing Water Adventures for any adventure you wish to take while in Djibouti!

We love Rushing Waters. Today we kayaked and snorkeled and had a nice picnic in a remote part of the Goubet. The company is easy to work with, knowledgable about Djibouti, and offers beautiful adventure trips. Highly recommended.

Learning and growing. At 65 I'm slowing down but this trip was a rush. I have never been on a trip with more knowledgeable and hospitable tour guides. Ken and Paula Gradall knew the country and its people. As I walked through the streets of the capital city with Ken it became clear that he was known as "the white man who speaks Somali, evidently a rare thing. His humble and wise demeanor opened doors to us as visitors that we could never have entered without him. I have a wonderful memory of sleeping on the beach after a day of snorkeling in a beautiful and colorfully pristine coral reef. The sea-life too was beautiful and varied. It is always special to see marine life that you've never seen before. Ken is a marine biologist and a teacher who had patient answers for all my questions. The rustic resort served delicious meals and we watched our dinner come off the boat and carried up the hill to be prepared - a grouper and an octopus which I think ended up in a salad. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises - and even better company. If you are fortunate enough to take a trip with Rushing Waters, be sure to see Lake Assal, Turtle Island, and take the walking tour of the Capital. I highly recommend Rushing Waters. It is, perhaps, the best value for an unusual adventure out there.

During our stay in Djibouti we did several adventures with Rushing water Adventures. We had Ken and Paula as our guides and they are so knowledgeable! My favorite adventures were at Ras Ali and Turtle Island. When we arrived at Ras Ali, it was low tide, so we quickly set off to explore the tide pools. Ken showed us all of the unique wildlife that exists right on the edge of the ocean. We then set off into the ocean with snorkels and kayaks. The reef there is absolutely stunning with an abundance of diverse creatures and colorful coral. They have one glass bottom kayak which was perfect for my kids to ride along in and look down at the beauty! The food was brought down to our location course by course, and much of it was taken straight out of the ocean! At the end of the day we slept under the stars on comfortable cots inside of mosquito nets. I loved hearing the waves crash on on the shore as I slept. We also visited turtle Island with Rushing Water Adventures. In this excursion, we kayaked out to an Island looking for Turtles. Ken knew right were to look for the wildlife. On our trip I saw at least 15 turtles, several of which swam right under me. We also walked along the beach and found blue spotted sting rays. What an amazing adventure! I highly recommend Rushing Waters Adventures if you are looking for an exciting African adventure!
